Chapter 32: The "Governor" of the City

Lev still walked in front, and didn't seem to give Esther much time to hesitate, and he was the first to walk into the huge gray and red building, and Esther had to quickly follow.

She only had time to glance at the towering iron pipes connected to the outside of the building, where the smoke that drifted from the top of Spark City came from, and when she got closer, it looked more like a spear stuck straight into Spark City, or a pillar supporting the dark sky, silently spitting out suffocating black smoke.

It can't be charcoal or coal burned here, and Esther has an inexplicable instinct that this is the secret of Spark City's existence.

Unlike the rest of the buildings, the doors and walls here are no longer metal, but more simple and fragile gray and white stones, which are mottled and old.

The moment the door closed, Esther realized that her surroundings had become quiet, and she suddenly broke away from the environment full of knocking sounds, which made her feel uncomfortable for a moment. Soon, she realized the source of this sense of incongruity, and the building was too quiet, as if the voices were subconsciously avoiding the place, unwilling to go deeper, cut off by the door.

There was no sound in the building, only the footsteps of the two men, so the scattered steps of Lev dragging on the ground were particularly noticeable, and he was clearly absent-minded from deep thought. Lev's face was red from the heat of his surroundings, but because of the way, he didn't sweat at all, and he had long been used to the situation here.

The man's speed was completely unaffected, only his brow furrowed again after he noticed that Esther was completely unresponsive.

It's hotter in the depths, and their destination is in the innermost part.

Esther, still pondering what the crow had said earlier, reached out and poked the crow in the claw again, but this time, the black-feathered thief smacked her finger impatiently, leaving a sharp pain and not explaining what she meant.

The corridors here maintain the usual style of Spark City - narrow, dense, and crowded to the point of suffocation, but there are quite a lot of "decorations" here, diamond-shaped squares made of various unknown materials, inlaid or hung on the walls and ceilings, and some of them are completely blackened, and it is no longer possible to see what was originally carved.

Such a completely enclosed environment, as well as the corridors and rooms that could not be turned at a glance, made Esther subconsciously think of the many seals behind Chanis's door.

She didn't let go of her senses to investigate, but judging from the situation of the Silver City Round Tower, there should be many magical items belonging to Spark City stored here. Lev didn't take Esther into the doors marked with different symbols, they seemed to prefer abstract symbols to distinguish rooms from forks in the road rather than words, as Esther had noticed in Spark City.

The two of them followed the arched bone corridor and continued to go deeper, and finally came to the end, and just around the corner, the space suddenly opened up, and the hall was like those strange signs, the whole was in the shape of a diamond, but there was nothing extra in the hall except a white bone round table and a few stone chairs.

The temperature in the hall was much lower than in the corridor, not much different from the outside of this building, and the thing that exuded a chill was on the other side of the entrance.

It was another closed door, and the moment she saw it, even Esther felt a tightness in her heart, and there seemed to be something very special behind the door, so that even if it was still sealed, it would make Esther have a special sense.

The black gate with intricate patterns looks so abrupt that it doesn't fit in with the white buildings here.

The hall was no longer empty, and the only two chairs at the round table were not empty, and they seemed to have been waiting here for a long time, which was not surprising to Esther.

The man also had a full head of red hair, but unlike Lev's neat short hair, his messy red hair was about the same as a chicken coop, black from a lot of ashes. His face was similarly rough and mottled, and although he didn't have many wrinkles, his skin itself was gray, and he didn't look very well.

The man was dressed in a red tin sheet, and his unusually thick hands were covered in thick calluses, and the backs of his hands were branded with two symmetrical diamond symbols. He rubbed the back of his hand, his dark gray eyes fixed on the table with tired and vicissitudes, and even though he tensed at the sound of the voice, he never turned his face away.

The other person seated at the round table was a young and beautiful lady, who looked even younger than Esther, and unlike the others, she wore a simple blood-red dress, which looked elegant and dignified. The lady was not tall, with bright eyes under a full forehead, bright red and secluded, her silky black hair kept short for ease of care, and a pungent but refreshing smell of herbs.

The lady wrinkled her nose the moment Esther and Lev entered the door, and then quickly pinched the bridge of her nose, and after noticing Esther's gaze, she seemed to think that such an action was not appropriate, and she lowered her hand again, and smiled kindly at Ester.

For the first time, Lev stood in the middle of the two and took the initiative to introduce himself to Esther:

"These two are my colleagues, and they are also members of the council of Spark City, or rather, 'sir'."

Lev pointed to the man, "Smith Schwarroger." ”

The gentleman, however, remained staring at the table, as if he hadn't heard the words at all, until Lev punched him hard in the back of his iron armor that the sallow-faced Smith shook his head wildly: "W-What? Oh Lev, when did you come back? ”

His acting skills were very poor, and the lady next to him couldn't help but sigh: "Alas, I'm sorry, guest." Smith: He's not very good at dealing with people. ”

Then she stood up and gestured to Esther as she walked by, "I'm Ballytley Schwarrog, one of the current 'Governors' of Spark City. ”

"You can just call me Esther."

The crow on Esther's shoulder, but there was no intention of greeting the other, Smith nervously turned his head to glance in this direction, and quickly moved his gaze, his lips constantly squirming, but he did not make a sound as he spoke to himself.

After such a self-introduction, several people were silent for a moment, and before this wordless embarrassment fermented, Lev looked at the dark door at the end:

"So...... She's still in there? ”

"Yes, with Kach's personality, she should want to meet the guests the most, but she suddenly said that she wanted to check the core of the seal, and went into the inside of the 'heart' alone." Ballyley answered Lev's question and then turned to Esther, "Sorry, that's a very important place for us, we can't take you ......"

"But Cacher said to let the guests in." Smith muttered quietly.

Ballytley raised an eyebrow and stared at Smith who interjected, looking at her expression as if she was about to scold, and her previous elegance and reserve disappeared without a trace.

"Let's go." Raven said to Esther.

"But ......"

Lev pressed Bally's shoulder: "It's okay, since it was Kach who said so, then let them in." (End of chapter)
