Chapter 39: Veto and Identity

"Why do I want to say it?"

Kach pinched the monocle in her right eye, and a helpless smile appeared on her face again, but it was fake no matter how she looked at it.

The two of them were standing in front of the black door outside the council chamber of the core building of Spark City, and although a long time had passed, Esther had a hunch that the "chiefs" would still be waiting at the table until she and "Kach" went out.

They're going to be very concerned about what's going on inside, and there's bound to be a face-to-face conversation, and there's no way Esther really walks away, so she's making a final deal with "Kach", or Amon, about whether or not to fully reveal "Kach's" identity.

If Esther had gone exactly what she had in mind, she was sure Amon would find a way to trick her, no matter what way it was, so Esther thought it would be better to talk to him before confronting the three of Lev.

Esther spoke confidently, "Because you're 'Cach,' and you're still Cach in their eyes, right?" Then this matter is inseparable from the responsibility of Kach. Don't look at me like that, I know you don't care about that, but since I've helped you, how much am I still useful?"

Her attitude is much calmer now than before, and more importantly - Cach didn't say anything to stimulate her along the way, so now the two of them can have a fairly peaceful exchange like this.

The crow didn't say anything all the way, and when he heard Esther say this, he gave Cach a look, although Cach didn't want to pay attention to it at all, but ......

"I see, I'll just say it," Cach laughed suddenly, "but what are your plans after this?"

"The other cities aren't in much better shape, are they?"

"yes, if it weren't for you, it wouldn't be so bad. But with your help, things would be easy," said Cacher, with a ladylike bow to Esther, "Do you want me to thank you again?"

"It's okay, don't say any more, I didn't ask you." Esther muttered, reaching out and hugging the crow above her head, holding the crow in front of her face, who was not struggling at all, "You will answer?"

The raven's dark eyes were indifferent, "Cach has said all I have to say, but it's time for us to go to the next city. The matter has been settled here, and there is no point in staying any longer."

"You know it's not this that I want to ask you."

After a few seconds, the crow didn't want to look at Esther anymore and pecked her on the wrist, "That's their fate, you should be okay with that. You know fate better than anyone else, don't you?"

Esther put the crow on her shoulder, "Before, yes, but now I have my own ideas."

She turned to Kärcher, "How likely do you think it is to convince Lev to move to Spark City?"

"Isn't it up to you to deceive them directly into making you gratefully take you as your Savior, and then follow you out of here?"

Esther just shook her head, "I don't need too many anchors to interfere with my cognition, at least in ...... Not right now."

Kach looked at the crow again, and after a silent exchange, she pouted, "Okay, but you've wasted a good opportunity."

——

Lev, Smith, and Ballyley, after a long wait, finally saw their long-time friend walk out of the door that sealed the "heart".

The lady who had entered the seal door was also standing with Cacher, and they didn't seem to be fine, and there was no overt distortion on their bodies, which made Lev breathe a sigh of relief.

He nodded politely at the two of them, and gestured to invite them to sit down at the table, "It's not in order, but you've seen the 'heart' and maybe the problem we're facing...... I don't know how much Kärcher told you."

After Esther sat down with a straight face, Caher looked around at the other three and pointed directly at Esther and smiled, "Thanks to our guests, the problem has been completely and completely solved."

Hearing this, Smith rarely raised his head and glanced at the two

At a glance, his gaze lingered on Cach for an additional second, and then he frowned and lowered his head, staring at his hands on the table. Smith's rough, calloused fingers wrenched together, and it was obvious that he was struggling with something.

Bally's face gradually turned pale, her skin, which was already so white that it was rarely bloody, looked not much different from a plain stone sculpture, and there was a deep surprise in her red eyes, and a fear that could not be fully concealed.

Esther's face didn't change, and she stared at Bally, the Lady of the Blood's demeanor clearly out of order. Esther didn't have much premonition of danger, even when she went into the depths of the "heart" before, if there was really something she couldn't deal with, she would have noticed it from the beginning and received a warning from "fate".

So now sitting at the table, Esther has more headaches about how to help Spark City deal with the aftermath, and on the surface it looks serious, but in fact her mind is a mess.

Naturally, Kach didn't care about that, she sat lazily in her chair, leaned back in her chair, and gave the other three too briefly a "summary" of what was happening behind the door: "The 'heart' was dead, she did. From this day forward, there will be no new life born in Spark City, the mission we started two thousand years ago is over, and Spark City can disappear."

It's quiet, so quiet that the air almost freezes.

Esther sighed inwardly, she knew it was going to be like this......

Lev's eyes swirled back and forth between Kach and Esther, and the pretense of composure when he had a straight face was completely gone, and looking at the way he opened his mouth repeatedly, it seemed that he had something to say, but he couldn't say it.

Ballytley jerked up from the table, and when she no longer concealed her hostility, her suppressed temper burst out, and her previous fears were forgotten. She slapped her hands heavily on the tabletop, but her nails stretched outward, surrounded by mysterious and strange patterns, the tips of which easily left neat rows of scratches on the tabletop.

A black mist appeared behind Bartley, condensing a pair of illusory bat wings, and it seemed that the next second it would rush towards Esther: "You, better, explain?"

Smith's reaction was the most insipid of the three, he just looked at Esther for a few seconds, and suddenly let out a shrill laugh that bordered on mourning: "Is that really the case...... Have you seen Cacher?"

This is a strange question, as Bartley and Lev simultaneously set their eyes on Cach, the lady who was also the "prefect" of Spark City, and Cach only smiled in response to the puzzled glances of several people.

Esther's gaze fell on the monocle in Cacher's right eye, and then shook her head silently.

"I see, since this is also the decision of His Highness the Son of God, we accept it."

Smith said softly.
