Tianjin Wei has a mustard garden, and there is a Shuixizhuang next to the mustard garden, which is the two famous gardens of Tianjin Wei in the old days!

Shuixizhuang is a garden villa built by the father and son of Tianjin salt merchant "Cha Riqian" and "Cha Weiren". The mustard garden is another garden built by Cha Weiren's brother, on the right side of Shuixizhuang, taking the name of "a Hanshi" and humbling. After Emperor Qianlong came here to play, he gave the name "Mustard Garden" to get its name.

Although both gardens are beautiful places, in comparison, Shuixizhuang is better.

Shuixizhuang is located on the southwest side of Weishui (South Canal), so it is named "Shuixizhuang". It was built in the Yongzheng period of the Qing Dynasty, the water and trees in the park are beautiful, the scenery is elegant, the Langhuan Water Pavilion is beautiful. In the old days, there were famous places such as the Pillow Creek Corridor, the Lotus Lotus Champs, the Lancui Xuan, the Flower Shadow Nunnery, the Boyue Fang, the Blue Sea Floating Conch Pavilion, etc., which were the best places for the literati and scholars at that time, chanting poems and talking freely.

It is known as the three major private gardens of the Qing Dynasty together with Yangzhou Xiaolinglong Mountain Pavilion and Hangzhou Xiaoshan Hall. Later generations have proved that Shuixizhuang is also the prototype of the Grand View Garden in Mr. Cao Xueqin's "Stone Records". It's a pity that during the Daoguang period of the Qing Dynasty, Shuixizhuang was abandoned and declined, and during the Republic of China, only the ruins and broken walls remained, and the ruins and tiles were just decayed. Only the two stone lions in front of the gate, although they are crawling with vines, they have stood for a long time.

In my early years, I heard that the stone lion outside Shuixi Village had a treasure, and the story of the southern barbarian holding the treasure, but it was just hearsay.

In old times, southerners don't care that northerners call them "barbarians", and northerners call southerners "barbarians", so they are often called "southern barbarians and northern barbarians". At that time, some people often saw some southern barbarians, walking the streets and alleys in Tianjin, collecting some old goods everywhere.

The old goods we are talking about are not antiques, antiques such as calligraphy and paintings, but those that are not used by ordinary people, old dustpans, broken brooms, jars of hemp rope, and rotten fences. This kind of person often wears a southern accent, and the trade is very unreasonable, and the collection is all waste products that even the basket pickers don't look down on.

So some people later said that at this time, the southern barbarians came to Tianjin to defend the treasure. This kind of person who holds treasures has extraordinary eyesight and can see the treasures in ordinary objects. Therefore, the waste products they collect seem to ordinary people to be just rags, but in their hands, they are of great use, and they can take out treasures from them.

According to folk legend, only one of the stone lions outside Shuixi Village is real, and the other is changed by the mount of Manjushri Bodhisattva. Because after the stone lion was carved, one was accidentally damaged during transportation, so only one stone lion was transported and placed at the gate of Shuixizhuang and covered with red silk cloth.

The owner asked the stonemason to carve another one and make a pair. But just when the stonemason was in a hurry to carve another stone lion, there was a strong wind one night, and out of nowhere, an identical stone lion blew. You may ask, this stone lion, which is not made of lamp grass, can still make the wind blow all over the sky?

It's folklore, and I can tell it as I hear it, and don't take it seriously. The so-called strong wind blows in the mean, which probably means that it just appeared out of thin air overnight.

How could this good and dignified person appear out of thin air, and it was exactly the same as the one originally wrapped in red cloth? For a while, the common people spread that some people said that later this stone lion was the "green lion" of Manjushri Bodhisattva!

It is said that Manjushri Bodhisattva went to the Uncovered Conference, and when he passed by the sky above Shuixizhuang, he brought a gust of wind. The wind rolled up the red cloth covered with the stone lion, the Bodhisattva mounted the green lion, saw the stone lion at the door of Shuixi Village, looked exactly like him, and was curious for a while, so he took advantage of the Bodhisattva to go to the meeting, and went to the mortal world in private at night.

Unexpectedly, as soon as the green lion glanced at the stone lion, the stone lion came to life, and he played in the water in the Wei River with the green lion. But after staying for a long time and forgetting the time, the Bodhisattva found that the mount was gone, and calculated that the green lion Sifan was in the lower realm, so he punished it for turning it into stone for 500 years, and the stone lion was one left and one right, guarding the gate of Shuixi Village.

Later, Tianjin Wei came to a southern barbarian who held back the treasure, he saw that among the two stone lions, one was the Bodhisattva's mount, and the stone lion had a treasure hidden in it, so he wanted to take advantage of the unpreparedness, chisel the stone lion, and take away the treasure. But if you want to get the treasure, there is a special condition, you must start it at the same time as the year, month and day when the green lion was petrified, and there is only one chance in sixty years.

If you want to chisel the stone lion and take the treasure, this bodhisattva's mount will become an ordinary stone, and even after the disaster is overcome, it will not be able to restore its true form and return to the spiritual mountain. The people of Tianjin could not let the southern barbarians succeed, so the people of Tianjin joined forces to guard, guarding day and night, in case the southern barbarians succeeded.

But the southern barbarian is quick-witted, and he is better at the end of the day. He calculated the time of the day, and with great pain, he used subterfuge to divert the night watchman. After that, a square groove was opened behind the stone lion to take the treasure. But he never expected that the moon was dark in the middle of the night, and in his hurry, he didn't recognize it clearly, and opened the wrong stone lion.

The square groove was not opened on the back of the green lion, but on the back of the original real stone lion. After the grooving, there was nothing inside, and when he tried to open another one, the guards had already rushed back, and he had no choice but to give up.

The people of Tianjin Wei saw the slotting behind the stone lion and thought that the treasure had been taken away, so they could only make a patch with a stone to mend the back of the stone lion, and then there was no one to guard it.

Seeing that the opportunity was missed, the Southern Barbarian would have to wait for sixty years to get the treasure, and it was impossible in this life. This southern barbarian blamed himself for being careless and losing his treasure, and he also took advantage of his small heart, and he couldn't get up in one breath, so he couldn't afford to get sick, and soon died of hatred.

Since then, there has been an extra complement on the back of the stone lion outside Shuixi Village. And what treasure is in the stone lion, and whether the treasure was taken away by the Southern Barbarian, is a matter of opinion.

Han Daring only knew that for many years, the stone lion outside Shuixi Village had been standing still without any abnormality, and he had not seen anyone go to dig the stone lion to hunt for treasure. He didn't believe in these ghostly things by nature, so he occasionally heard that someone said that the story of the stone lion holding the treasure was just a smile.
