37. First time at Hogwarts (ask for tickets~)
It didn't take long for the express train to reach the destination, Hogwarts Station.
A few people in robes disembarked from the train with their luggage, and there was no enchanting view as expected, just a small dark platform and the bitter cold wind of an autumn night.
"Wearing this will warm you up."
Dudley untied his scarf and tied it around Hermione's neck, who was constantly snorting at her, before pulling out an overcoat and draping it on.
The coat was too big for Hermione to fit her entirely.
Still, it's warm.
"Thank you."
Hermione's face flushed slightly, and she tightened the collar of her coat to wrap herself tighter.
"First-year students! First-year students are here! β
A kerosene lamp swayed above the students' heads, sounding with a familiar voice in the roughness.
It's Hagrid.
When he saw Harry, he wanted to go up and say hello, but stopped when he saw Dudley.
"First-year freshmen, come with me and watch out for the soles of your feet!"
In a few moments he was surrounded by a number of young wizards, who led the way with kerosene lamps, and followed Hagrid's slippery and stumbling down a steep, narrow, winding and rugged path.
Dudley noticed one thing, the older students were walking off the platform and going somewhere else, a path that was only being walked by first-year students.
"I've read in A History of Hogwarts that first-year students walk through the path of the four great founders of Hogwarts and learn from their spirit." Hermione, who had wrapped herself tightly, said with her little furry head exposed.
Dudley had seen the content she was talking about, but he didn't remember it.
This is the difference between Dudley and Hermione, Hermione is not taboo in meat and will memorize some knowledge whether it is useful or not, while Dudley will deliberately choose to remember some things that are useful to him.
For example, Potions and Herbology, two subjects, the contents of Dudley's books have been memorized, and Hermione has only read them and remembered the contents.
For Dudley, it wasn't even enough to warm up, but for the other little wizards, it was a breathless journey.
But at the end of the narrow path, a black lake suddenly opened, and on the high hillside on the opposite side of the lake stood a majestic castle, with spires and windows twinkling under the stars.
If you think it's Hogwarts.
What a majestic building.
Just looking at Dudley from afar, you could feel the grandeur of that castle, and the thought of spending the next few years there was inevitably a little exciting.
I've never lived in a castle before.
"Hey, kids, get on board. No more than four people per boat! β
Hagrid exclaimed, pointing to a group of small boats moored to the shore.
For other young wizards, there could be no more than four people per boat, but for Dudley, the level dropped to four people just by him getting on the boat. So Dudley is a small boat that one person rides in.
It is said that there are many aquatic creatures living under the lake, but I don't know if it's true.
Dudley stared at the dark lake, stunned.
For Dudley, Hogwarts is more than just a place to learn, it's a treasure trove.
"Reach... Dudley... Allow me to call you that. β
Dudley's boat was close to Hagrid, and he looked a little nervous, only to hear him lower his voice and whisper, "I'm sorry, oh, I mean, I shouldn't have been..."
"Are you feeling better there?"
Hagrid said incoherently.
The scene of Dudley swallowing his tail left a deep impression on him.
"It's all right." Dudley said lightly.
In fact, there is still a small scar left on the buttocks, which he deliberately left to warn himself.
In essence, Dudley didn't dislike Hagrid, and it was Hagrid who first moved on Vernon when there was a conflict, and then Dudley heard Penny mention that the reason why Hagrid was unkind to Vernon was because of some unpleasant things that happened to the two in the past.
In addition to Hakkai, Vernon also had conflicts with some of Harry's father's friends.
Hagrid's personality belongs to the category of simplicity, and he is not bad in nature.
Of course, sometimes mere is not a pure compliment.
This is the feeling of Dudley's buttocks after being taught a lesson.
"Really... Really..."
Hagrid said angrily.
"If you can, I hope you can invite me to your house in the future."
"Of course I'll take Harry with me, after all, you're a friend of my aunt and uncle."
"If you don't mind."
Dudley admits that he said these words with a strong utilitarian nature, he knew the map of Hogwarts, Hagrid's home was near the Forbidden Forest, and the Forbidden Forest would become a place for Dudley to frequent, and it was necessary to have a good relationship with Hagrid.
"Oh, too... Great, I mean... Of course I don't mind..."
Hagrid was a little incoherent, not at all as rude as he had been at the Dursleys cottage.
It was only after passing through a pitch-black tunnel that it came to a dock-like spot at the bottom of the castle that the small fleet stopped.
Professor McGonagall stood in front of the door with a serious expression.
"First-year freshman, Professor McGonagall."
Hagrid said to Professor McGonagall.
"Thank you, Hagrid."
Professor McGonagall politely said to Hagrid, then to the other young wizards, "Follow me." β
As he spoke, he pushed open the door, and the style of a medieval castle in Europe was displayed in front of the little wizards, the walls were made of a kind of gray stone, Dudley didn't know what the material was, but it was certainly much harder than ordinary stone, and Dudley couldn't break a small piece from it with a lot of strength, which was enough to prove this.
The stone walls are surrounded by flaming torches, the ceilings are so high that you can barely see the top, and the façade is a sumptuous marble staircase that leads to the upper floors.
Walking up the stone floor, you can hear the buzzing of voices coming from the door on the right, which is obviously full of people, following Professor McGonagall all the way to a small, empty room at the other end of the hall.
"I know, I read in A History of Hogwarts that we need to be assigned to a house before we can start learning."
Hermione leaned over Dudley and whispered.
Her voice was not loud, but it was also heard by Professor McGonagall, who gave her an approving look, "That's right, Miss Granger. β
"Welcome to Hogwarts..."
Professor McGonagall cleared her throat and spoke.
"The opening banquet is about to begin, and before you take your seats, you must first determine which college you will each enter."
"Sorting is an important ritual because during your time at school, the house is like your home at Hogwarts. You will attend classes with other students in the college, live in the dormitory of the college, and spend your free time together in the common room of the college. β
"The names of the four houses are: Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin."
