Chapter 12 The Vegetable Plot Turmoil
Bombarded with simple finger games, jokes, and ghost stories, the four guards have completed their entertainment awakening, and in fact they are already developing and finding new fun on their own, and they will not be as bored as they used to be.
Andy didn't help in vain, and during this time, his fame spread a little. While it's not obvious yet, Andy is still just an outsider to most people, and it's interesting at best.
Today, Andy sits in Colhoti's grocery store and ponders how to move forward.
Looking at Colhoti, who was sorting out the goods, Andy asked a question.
"Korhoti, you said there was a lot of water for blackfoot, didn't you?"
"yes, so what?"
Corhoti was a little absent-minded.
"Why don't you sell water?"
Andy asked the question.
"Water? What is there to sell for water? ”
Corhoti put down his goods and wiped the counter, looking completely devoid of the concept of water that most people in the outside world have, obviously because of the habits brought about by the environment in which he was raised.
"Isn't water something that everyone has? Most of us collect rainwater except for springs, and we get a lot of water every time it rains. Many people don't want to travel that far every day to fetch water, so they use rainwater harvesting buckets to store water for daily use. In fact, I don't think there is any need to sell the water in the grocery store, but if you don't make money in vain, those who come all the way outside are probably very thirsty. ”
Andy stood up, and he felt the need to correct the hillbilly's opinion.
"What you say is very inaccurate, I can tell you that in many places outside, water, especially clean water, is a very valuable commodity, and not every place has as much rain as here, or there is a spring.... People can't live without water, so water is a necessity. If you have a surplus of water, you should consider organizing a caravan to sell it. ”
There was a slight surprise on Colhoti's face, because this statement shook his three views a little.
"What? Are you serious? How much can water sell for outside? ”
Andy unceremoniously points to the example of the pre-war supermarket to the east that had been converted into a slave farm.
"You have a lot of warriors, you have a lot of Brahmins, and probably you will not lack containers for water. So it's a very simple thing for you to assemble a caravan. As long as you escort a caravan loaded with pure water safely enough away, you can earn several times or even ten times as much as your room of slaves can sell. Not to mention the fact that slaves need to be captured or bought a little bit, and then they need to be guarded and eaten three times a day, but there is an endless supply of water, and you can go to trade in one team after another. I can assure you that as long as you engage in this new trade, you will understand how worthless the slave trade really is. ”
Colhotti's mouth was open, as if he had fallen into a fantasy because of Andy's words, but then he came to his senses and pointed out some of the problems that Andy's vision was facing.
"Andy, what you said is very attractive, but this matter is not that simple.... If we were to sell water, we would need a lot of water, and we would need to get it directly from the spring, but the spring was some distance away from here and was guarded by one of our brother tribes. And it's not just a matter of convincing them. Crucially, you'll have to deal with opposition from those who stick to tradition, and finally, you'll have to get the support of the chiefs, which won't be true if you can't convince them all. ”
Pip-boy pops up a prompt.
[New Mission: Water for Slaves]
[Note: It may be a good idea to have the Blackfoot Tribe replace the slave trade with the water trade, but you'll need more support to accomplish this big thing.] 】
[Optional: Convince the Blackfoot Chief Kurisu (0/1), Convince the Conservative Blackfoot (0/1), Convince the Spring Guardian (0/1)]
After a hurried glance, Andy didn't look much and continued to seek advice from Colhoti.
"So, Korhoti, do you think I should, if I'm going to make this happen, I'll..."
Just then, the door was suddenly pushed open.
A half-grown child ran in with a roar.
Colhoti looked over.
"What's the matter, little pheasant, why are you in such a hurry?"
The half-grown child, known as the little pheasant, was panting for breath and looked very anxious.
"Korhoti, there's something big going on in the vegetable patch, and suddenly a whole bunch of strange plants have grown there, with big mouths and very sharp thorns. Quite a few people have already been injured trying to eradicate them, and now everyone is in a mess. A lot of adults have gone outside with the hunting party, and no one cares about them. ”
When Andy heard it, it was clearly the kind of strange plant it had seen before, that thing was as fierce as a beast, and it would spit out and attack from a distance, which was quite difficult.
He asked for the location of the pheasant patch, and went out the door to the west.
Halfway through, I saw a man lying on the ground in pain, and several people surrounded him to take care of him.
Andy could tell that his leg that had been simply covered with herbs must have been pierced by something, and as expected, it should have been caused by the sharp and hard thorns ejected from that strange plant.
Continuing on, Andy sees a man being beaten up by the crowd.
"What did you fool do? Look at the vegetable patch that you have done now, huh? ”
"Who told you to plant things in the field?"
Andy watched for a while, the scene was extremely cruel, the beaten person was lying on the ground with his arms and head guarded, and he saw that he had been beaten for a while.
He dragged a black-footed native over and asked.
"What are you doing here? Why are they all beating him? ”
The black-footed native looked very angry, straightened his scattered feathered headdress, and pointed at the man who was still being beaten, his tone full of indignation.
"This idiot! He had somehow found a large pile of spore grass seeds, and planted them all in the village land, and now that they were all grown, he would be bitten or pricked by the thorns they spewed if he came closer. We all wondered how this stuff got into the village, only to find out when we asked him that he was the bastard who did it! ”
The man who was beaten pityfully defended himself.
"I really didn't mean to.... I thought it was some kind of melon seed...."
The native's eyes widened, and he shouted at the unlucky ghost.
"You hopeless fool! You don't even recognize the seeds of spore grass? The seeds of that thing will grow within ten days of falling into the soil, and now that the good hands in the village are out, they won't be able to come back for a while, you see how this thing ends? ”
With that, the native ran over again in a rage and kicked the poor man.
