Chapter 62: The Turbulent Camp

pS: I've been in the water for the past few days, and I'm annoyed.... After a long journey, despite the frequent accidents, the two vehicles, escorted by giant robot dogs, successfully crossed a dangerous dog town road to the location of the salvage camp.

In the distance, smoke could be seen billowing from the pile of tires lit by the salvagemen, and the black plume of smoke was still quite conspicuous in a red dog town.

The pungent poisonous gas and flames can expel the surrounding wild dogs, and the smoke column can also allow the members who go out to scavenger to find their way back to the camp.

Andy was ready to greet the two gatekeepers, but until they drove downstairs to the camp building, the familiar figures still did not appear, which was a situation that should not have appeared, which made Andy feel a little weird.

He got out of the car and shouted to the window on the second floor of the camp building, but there was no response.

"Jeb? —" The voice echoed through the dog city, responding only to the menacing barks of several nearby wild dogs trailing all the way, after which they were forced back by several tear gas canisters, originating from the launch slot behind the cRb-S-02.

Andy frowned and fell silent, his hand pulling out of the pocket of his jeans. He tugged at a set of green jackets he had managed to find in a corner of the dome and walked down from the Atomic Hummer to the downstairs of the second-floor window.

In normal times, the two scouts guarding the camp would have spotted and reacted before they arrived, but now it was as silent as if the building had been empty.

The only way to get into the building, which was completely sealed off on the first floor, was to climb the rope that hung down from the second floor, but now no one helped Andy put it down.

Luckily, Andy still has a second plan.

"Help me up!" He shouted to cRb-S-01 to the side, which was quickly picked up.

"Roger, execute your order." cRb-S-01 lowered its silver square head, and Andy then jumped up, looking up slightly, and Andy was sent to the second-floor window.

But as soon as his foot stepped on the windowsill, he suddenly found that he seemed to have broken a thin line just now, a terrifying feeling made Andy's expression tense, and it seemed that something was about to erupt out of the black window, in this moment of lightning, Andy rolled backwards violently, fortunately cRb-S-01 did not move, he just rolled down the smooth metal body of the giant robot dog to the ground.

As he moved, almost at the same time, a cluster of shrapnel erupted from the window, sending a spark out of cRb-S-01's skull.

"Assault on police was detected, and riot suppression was carried out." cRb-S-01 immediately activated the countermeasure procedure, and a firing port above its body opened, firing two flashbangs into the window.

After a crisp metal crack, the entire second floor was instantly illuminated. Two other mechanical dogs approached, and the advanced detection device in front of their heads, combined with the information exchange LAN function between them, began to activate seven types of detection methods to scan the buildings in front of them at the same time.

"Biological reactions found, number: 7, continuously increasing, judging threat level: medium."

"Identified as armed terrorists and implemented Level 2 response procedures." The high-pressure water cannons and tear gas immediately continued to fire into the building, and these horrific attacks destroyed the planked windows elsewhere on the second floor, pouring smoke and water into them, only to be quickly stopped by Andy.

A head staggered out of the chaotic second floor, his clothes were soaked by the torrent, and he wore a gas mask to avoid inhaling gas, but even so, the flashbang caught him off guard, so he almost fell straight from the second floor when he walked over.

"Oh my God...", the man in his old, torn dirty overalls, with a big belly, looked like a series of blows had thrown him into chaos.

"You.... You—" He moved slowly, even unaware of the fact that he had already been exposed from behind the cover, and trembled as he tried to pull out a junk iron pistol from a broken bag at his waist that he didn't know if it could be used.

Andy frowned and made out for a moment before he realized who this person was.

"Michael? How are you? He could tell it was the fat mechanic he had met when he first arrived in Dog City, but he wasn't a combatant at all.

Hearing the voice, Michael hesitated for a moment before taking off his gas mask, startled by several huge mechanical dogs, and then noticed Andy, who was watching him from the first floor, and after a moment of brain short-circuiting, he seemed to finally understand what was happening in front of him.

"It's... It's you, Andy... What are you doing... I was almost pushed down by the water from the window opposite. Michael grabbed a handful of wet hair, and with the red dust blowing in from outside the window, the situation inside had turned into a thin mud.

Andy noticed a few more salvage crews around him, but they were all of the unfamiliar kinds.

Then, the clay appeared, and the black, skinny creature grimaced.

"What are you doing? I even thought Anton they were back. Andy motioned for cRb-S-01 to send him up again, and this time he finally made it to the second floor of the camp under the jealous eyes of the Dog City salvagers.

"It's just an accident... And you guys also gave me a surprise. Andy pointed to a shotgun in the corner that had been shot far away by the water cannon, its trigger part had been clearly modified, the gun had been fixed to two hollow bricks and attached to an automatic trigger device, and if the thin line hidden in front of the windowsill broke, the weapon would fire instantly.

was slapped with a shrapnel at close range, and the situation is probably not optimistic. Fortunately, I don't know if there was a problem with the design of the mechanism, Andy got a little time to react, and he didn't fall off the second floor after being shot in the head with a shotgun.

Clay glanced at the remains of the shotgun trap on the ground and sighed ugly.

"We're in a terrible situation." Michael walked over to Andy and confided in Andy in a sad voice what had happened here after he left Dog City.

"We thought everything was going to go in a good direction, but who knows it wasn't! NcR said that the situation at the Hoover Dam is still very urgent, and there is no way to bring more supplies.... Not only that, but they recalculated our salvage gains, and we thought that the pre-war tech items we had obtained would be enough to atone for our crimes, but they said that the amount of tasks on those who died should also be counted on our heads, how can we accept this? Another salvager, Will, interrupted him eagerly.

"Don't mention that shitty NcR, what's even more terrible than that is the plague!" Michael hurriedly stopped his mouth from crooked, and he began to talk about the culprit who had put the whole camp in such a state.

"Yes, yes, yes! That kind of disease, so many people have that kind of disease, and they soon fall ill, and they can't even breathe.... Several people have already died, and Jimmy can't do anything about it. "The clay also came over and vomited bitterness.

"With hope dashed on the one hand, and disease on the other, Potter fell ill, and Marshall, with a few men, called on the others every day to simply leave the place and find another way out of the Mojave Desert to the west... But if what those NcR GIs said before was true, we might be finished halfway, but staying is probably a dead end, and everyone is now very shaken. Andy couldn't react to this change for a while, he thought that he would come back and see a more positive dog town, but who knew that the situation was the opposite, and these salvage people were close to falling apart at the moment.

A cough came from a distance, and Andy saw a patient who had been out of shape from the disease struggling to walk towards it, and it wasn't until he got close enough that Andy realized that it was, he was almost a different person, wrapped in a shabby black blanket.

The exposed face was pale and thin, dotted with red and swollen eye bags and blinding blue blisters. The original handsome guy has become a sick ghost.

"Ahem, ahem...."His eyes were dirty, as if he had been blinded by stolen goods, and despite his efforts to pick up the gun, it was too reluctant.
