Chapter 47: Out of the Falls
"We've been trying to hack a terminal, but it's locked a little too much, and if we can unlock it, maybe we can activate some of the drain valves and let the path out of here reveal from the water." The string was holding a notebook and writing and drawing on it, as if he was calculating something.
"It's probably not that simple here, but I've found some weird accounts in some places that the lake out there seems to have existed when it was still called Black Canyon National Park... One geological exploration mission discovered something indescribable beneath the lake, and they even built a research center nearby. Andy looked around, and behind the mottled walls, there seemed to be some unknown past.
"So that's what the research center was in the first place? What did they come up with? The string spread his hands.
"I don't know, all the other unlocked storage media that can be found has been destroyed by the earthquake, and no one knows what those people found underwater in the first place, and they don't know what they found in the end. And I found some traces in the system, they deleted or transferred most of the critical data stored here before closing the research project, and the Greenway hydroponic staff who took over here also found these traces, and they didn't seem to know the specifics. The tank moved back and forth, looking preoccupied, and handed strings a tattered old book.
"I found this, maybe there are some clues in it that can help us decipher the code." After turning over a few pages and throwing out the parts that were no longer indistinguishable, it was revealed that it was a notebook used by a programmer to record various chores.
It reads that this guy named Kode borrowed money from a colleague to buy a lottery ticket on a certain day, year, month, and day, as well as a complicated record of the results he used to mark the results of his horse bets.
All in all, this guy spends almost half of his energy on gambling. The strings continued to flip through, and the second half of the record became a ledger, all of which recorded how much money he repaid each month, and it could be guessed that he had probably borrowed loan sharks for gambling, and had already taken on extremely heavy debts.
She flipped through it from front to back several times, unable to see anything likely to prompt a password-related message.
The tank brain wandered around and made a suggestion.
"This guy seems to be very fond of a string of numbers, and I see in that book that he has bet on that string of numbers at least ten times, and I guess this may be his terminal password." Andy also took the notebook and looked at it for a while, and felt that this person was quite pitiful, his life was entangled with those things, and he was getting deeper and deeper.
At first, it seemed that some colleagues were willing to lend him money, but after a long time, others learned about the situation, and no one was willing to lend money at all.
There seems to be his self-encouragement on the footnote on one of the pages, thinking that the string of numbers he believes will inevitably bring him good luck, and using the main character of a book to cheer himself up.... It seems that the protagonist of that book is a fisherman who hasn't caught a fish for a long time, but he persevers until the last day he can, and ends up with a huge catch.
But there was no such positive energy in the back, and between the lines began to show that he was under extreme pressure.
The two people next to him were still debating whether to try the string of numbers.
"I think it's still very possible, you say?"
"We have failed twice, if we fail again this time, then the system will be completely locked, theoretically unless it is Rocco's after-sales personnel, otherwise no one can unlock the terminal.... But you also know that Rocco has disappeared for a long, long time now, and if we still fail, I'm afraid we'll be trapped here, and the ship that came here has sunk to the bottom. Andy was a little annoyed by the two arguing, and then quickly flipped through the notebook a few times, and suddenly felt that there were two pages that seemed to be slightly different in thickness.
He flipped through it again, but still found nothing, and even began to wonder if he had hallucinated just now, so he turned the book over and shook it around.
Unexpectedly, something suddenly fell from the book to the ground with a crisp sound.
The three of them focused their eyes on the object for a moment, and String walked over and picked up the unidentified object, which looked like a small red plastic card, presumably clipped somewhere in the book.
The string casually flipped through it twice, looking at Andy with a strange look.
"Are you lucky, we searched through this thing several times and didn't find it, and you actually made it so easy." The Tank Brain looked at it twice, convinced that it was a key card used to unlock the terminal.
"Now we don't have to think about what the password is." ................... The three of them came to the terminal, and then used the key card that Andy had stumbled upon to unlock the terminal, and instead of immediately controlling the drain valve, he looked inside the terminal for any records of something.
After some searching, the Tank Brain found a hidden file through technical means, which seemed to contain some pictures.
The file was clicked on, and a photograph appeared blurry on the terminal's screen, but it was still roughly certain that the photo was taken underwater, and it was probably the lake outside.
In the center of the photo, there is an off-frame light source that illuminates the area ahead, and not far from the photographer it seems to be the bottom area of the lake, where there is a strange thing .... It looks like the bow part of a ship, but is made of black stone.
In addition, there is a strange pattern that fills the whole thing
"Bow". In the corner of the photo is marked the length, width and height of this unknown object, and if this thing is not mistaken, then the inside of the photo
When the "boat" is fully out of the water, it is likely to be the size of a hill.
"What the hell?" Tank brain kept clicking on that photo in confusion, and then wanted to see what the other photos were, but who would have thought that after clicking to jump, it was not a photo but a prompt message.
[I've given you what you want, if you want to see the next one, type the number I said into the account you know.]
Such an unclear message flashed on the screen. The strings and the cylinder brain tried for a while, but there was still no way to see what the encrypted things were.
"What's that? Remnants of an ancient civilization or fossils of some kind of ancient creature? "The cylinder brain is very desperate about this, and I can't wait to smash this terminal on the spot.
"Maybe it's a unique geological phenomenon..... Whatever it is, it doesn't matter, hurry up and open the valve. Xian only glanced at it twice and didn't take it to heart, there are too many inexplicable ancient information in the wasteland, most of it is actually junk information that cannot be traced with the passage of time, Xian once heard that a wasteland man had been searching for treasure in the wasteland for three years according to a clue, only to find out that it was just a tragic story of a fictional lie.
After the terminal activated the valve, a downward corridor not far away that had been completely flooded by water began to gradually bottom, and the three of them stepped on the mud and sand that had accumulated for many years and finally reached the bottom.
There was a closed security door, and in front of it was all sludge, and there seemed to be some bones mixed in the mud, but no one wanted to distinguish them.
The security door was pried open, and a staircase leading to the upper floor appeared in front of the trio.
"Hell, I hate stairs!" The Tank Brain muttered loudly, and String and Andy dragged it all the way to the top, and finally they stepped out of a door, behind which was a flat, wide field with a large number of plants growing in front of it.
Not far away, they discovered the source of the waterfall, which was carried by several huge pipes from somewhere, and the water flowed out of the pipes and continued downstream along the artificially dug canals, which were much higher than the previous garden areas.
Andy's gaze follows the conspicuous pipes, which eventually lead to a few huge looming buildings in the distance, which unsurprisingly are the factory area of the nursery.
