Chapter 31: Ouroboros Village
Andy parked his car not far away, and there were some hidden sentry natives watching him long before he stopped.
He stepped out of the car and saw people coming and going. Hordes of natives came and went through the gates of the settlement, and their clothes were generally rough and simple, some made of hemp plants, but more often they were made of the tough outer skin of various mutated creatures, and had a certain degree of protective leather clothing.
Many people have strange tattoos or painted on their bodies, which are often part of the tribal culture. Several black-footed tribesmen walked out of the gate, their legs and feet painted black by black charcoal gray were very distinctive, these warriors were extremely muscular, and their eyes were full of vigorous combat power and vitality.
Delicate leather armor and rudimentary plate armor made of metal draped over them, long spears and short spears were carried on their backs or stuck in holsters, and sharp machetes were unabashedly carried in their hands as a deterrent.
Other tribesmen who passed by, and the name Blackfoot was a terrible word for most tribes that were not left untouched.
Andy knew that Blackfoot had gradually changed since he and Kurisu had worked together to transform Blackfoot, but it seemed that Blackfoot had become more deterrent due to the increase in force after Blackfoot was generally equipped with thermal weapons.
Several senior members of the Hecate Hounds, dressed in heavy leather or metal armor covered in black viper symbols, stood high above the gate and watched the departure of the Blackfoot Squad, along with two women in silver-trimmed black robes who were saluted by passers-by.
Andy stared at the two women, who wore black hoods on their heads, but some of their braided hair was leaking out of them, and with the respectful attitude of the others around them, they must be the daughters of Hecate.
At that moment, one of the daughters of Hecate seemed to notice Andy, and she turned her head to look at Andy, taking off her hood to reveal the dreadlocks of her head and her face completely blackened by black paint.
She beckoned to Andy and motioned for him to come over. Seeing this, Andy didn't hesitate, tilted his head and walked over there.
The closer you get to the gate of Ouroboros, the more natives come in and out, and there are a lot of obviously organized and disciplined Hekate Hounds standing on both sides to maintain order and act as guards, and their eyes are also sharp at Andy, who is out of place with the other people around him, and their hands are on their weapons.
The Hekate hounds who guarded the base camp were significantly better equipped, both in terms of the thicker armor they wore and the submachine guns and rifles.
Ahead is a bridge, which is actually a large steel plate with slings hanging from it. Under the bridge, it can be said that this city-like settlement is located
A "moat", or to put it bluntly, is a ravine, on average, two to three meters deep and four to five meters wide, filled with all kinds of garbage.
Andy couldn't help but glance around, in addition to all kinds of rotten metal garbage and a large number of biological bones, there were also all kinds of household garbage and coagulation suspected to be feces and urine after weathering.... The ravine was clearly not only used to keep out outside attacks, but also seemed to be being used as a garbage dump.
The two slings that connected the rudimentary metal bridge to the two towering watchtowers on either side of the gate at the back looked like the bridge would be pulled up if they wanted to, making it difficult for the enemy to penetrate the interior and wait for an opportunity to launch a counterattack from above.
The Hekate Hound on duty on the watchtower carried shotguns and sniper rifles, and this level of defensive firepower was already the best among ordinary tribes.
Andy walked slowly towards the gate, where the daughter of Hekate, who had beckoned to him, stood still, so the other daughter of Hekate and the other hounds stood there waiting.
This caused a chain reaction, and the tribesmen in and out began to stop and stare at Andy, looking at him curiously.
So, the scene turned into a weird one
"Warm welcome". In the midst of everyone's attention, Andy came to the gate of Ouroboros Village, which was basically two large steel plates that had been roughly welded and installed on the shafts of the two gates.
At this distance, Andy looked at the daughter of Hekate who had been watching her, and still didn't think that the woman who had completely blackened her face with black oil paint was someone he knew.
But the other party has already spoken first.
"It's been a long time, I really didn't expect you to come with you just after I came back to Lord Hekathe, we really have a fate." Andy glanced at the daughter of Hekate for a moment, and suddenly with a cry in his heart, he recognized who it was.
"Merlin?" The other party nodded, and if you look closely, it is indeed her, the daughter of Hekate that Andy met in Blackfoot Village.
"What are you doing here?" As she spoke, several Hekate hounds around her violently expelled the natives who were watching, their movements and tones were full of contempt, and one of the natives bowed to Merlin and another daughter of Hekate who Andy didn't know, and seemed to really believe in these proud women, but unfortunately the two did not react to this, deliberately avoiding their eyes and did not make any response.
"Come and see the famous Ouroboros Village." Andy said this, seeing the Hecate hounds unscrupulously oppressing the other tribesmen who had come from afar, but anyone who was even the slightest unwilling to obey the order was a loud mouth or a punch and kick.
Obviously, people like Andy from the west seem to be the same tribesmen, but the people of Ouroboros don't seem to think so, they think they are superior.
"Why are you back here? Don't you have to stay in Blackfoot Village anymore? Merlin glanced at some of the fanatical natives who couldn't get rid of the hounds, frowned slightly, and gestured for Andy to go inside the village and talk.
As they walked through the gates, Andy saw that the village inside the walls was in a chaotic state of planning, full of abandoned cars, carts, RVs, trucks, and the like from the pre-war period that had been recovered from various places, all of which had been easily modified to make them more habitable and should be able to move in case of emergency.
The vehicles were placed in the village in a haphazard manner, in any direction, and there was no pattern to be found.
The most striking thing about this is a tall three-story pyramidal building in the middle of the village, which is supposed to be made of metals like steel and tin, which are supposed to be scrap vehicles and other metal waste that have been melted and processed, but it is not solid, but something like a shell that has been put together with various types of cars and then wrapped around the outside.
They came to a rusty RV. Inside, Merlin sat down in a recycled old soft chair and breathed a sigh of relief, as if to her the natives outside were a disgusting presence for her, and this was also seen in the other daughter of Hecate.
Some of the hounds stood guard outside, while others remained in the space inside the vehicle, continuing to be vigilant about Andy.
These warriors seem to have made it their duty to protect the daughters of Hecate, which shows that these daughters of Hekate are in a fairly high class position in this village.
"More formal occasions aren't for you to go in, so let's move on here." Merlin poured some liquid out of a glass bottle and drank it from a wooden cup.
"You know that..... For me, Blackfoot Village is not a good place to stay for a long time. Thankfully, with your help, Blackfoot has been able to sever ties with the Legion, and they are now more inclined to our Ouroboros Village, and have paid more tribute than ever before, increasing the trade between the two sides. ”
"Lady Hekate thinks I've done a good job and turned me from an ordinary daughter of Hekate into a maid, so I'll be back in Ouroboros Village after the handover." Andy saw that the room was full of all kinds of strange bottles and cans, some cages with some strange critters or insects, and many symbolic decorations of unknown meaning hanging on the walls, the most numerous being the image of Ouroboros.
"What is a maid?" Merlin put down his glass.
"The daughter of Hekat has completed all her studies and assessments in Ouroboros Village and will be sent to various tribes when she reaches her age, and if she does well there, she will have the opportunity to be transferred back to Ouroboros Village to stay with Lord Hekate, and it will be easy not to stay with those fools for a long time." She touched her face.
"You didn't recognize me at first, but as a sign of respect for Lord Hecate, all the maids painted their faces with black paint, symbolizing their willingness to give everything to Lady Hecate, the god who walks on earth." The daughter of Hecate, who was beside her, heard something from a hound, and came to Merlin's ear to whisper, and she immediately stood up, obviously in a hurry to leave.
"Originally, it was not so easy for you to come in here, but since you helped me, I am willing to help you, if you want to do business here, go to the side near the Holy Tower, there is a small square.... Don't mess around, I'm not going to help you anymore, hurry up and get out of here, don't stay long. She said a few words and left.
Under the watchful eye of the other hounds, Andy shrugged and walked out of the area, walking into Ouroboros Village.
