Chapter 37 Village Layout

"To the west of the village, where the hounds live." Danday stood up and pointed to the area to the left when he entered through the village gate, where he looked down from the heights and saw that there were many almost open-air bunks and rudimentary tents in addition to the many abandoned vehicles that were commonly used here.

That's fine, as the area is almost entirely desert, and even this kind of open-air accommodation doesn't bother the able-bodied hounds.

Andy is standing on stilts

Looking out of the window, there are many Hekate Hound warriors in action, some seem to be exercising their bodies and honing their fighting skills, some seem to be fighting with their bare hands, and some fighters are also holding guns to practice target shooting or marksmanship.

In addition to these daily activities, there were also those who seemed to be leisure, but it seemed that because of Hecate's request, Andy saw the unusually drunk and crazy guys here, and he couldn't see the crowd gambling around the table shouting and dancing.

The main recreation here is smoking the same cigarette that Dan Te also smokes, drinking an unknown green liquid, lying on the ground and enjoying a massage from a slave, etc.

In the western part of the area, which belonged to the hounds, there were two more remote areas, and Andy couldn't see it very clearly due to the distance, so he glanced left and right, and at a glance he took a fancy to the lookout glass inserted in the waist of the thin man.

"Can you lend me your one?" Andy didn't hesitate to open his mouth to ask, and the thin man rolled his eyes on the spot.

"Don't you have eyes? Can't you see things? Ha! Andy held out his hand.

"I can see it, but it's too far away to see clearly, and if your eyes are really as good as you say, and you can see all the corners of the village clearly from here, then what are you carrying this thing for? To help me find the guy you're looking for faster, wouldn't it be too much to lend me your treasure? The thin man grinned reluctantly, but he couldn't excuse himself in front of the others, and reluctantly handed the goggles to Andy.

When the things arrived, Andy made a brief observation, in fact, it was still very simple, but it was also useful.

The Pip-Boy still seems to have the telescope he got somewhere, but Andy is too lazy to rummage through it now, so why not just use it when there is something ready-made in front of him.

Through the mirror, Andy clearly saw more details in several areas this time. There, there were several large abandoned vehicles to live in, but those allowed to live in them all looked as well-equipped as Danday, and I am afraid that only high-ranking personnel were entitled to live in covered areas.

The average hound would probably have to sleep outside in the dark, or simply bake a fire to deal with the past night.

In addition to this, there are several abandoned pre-war RVs parked at random on the side. There are three of these motorhomes, one larger and two smaller.

Andy could see Ouroboros villagers, apparently underage boys, moving around in the two smaller RVs, some frolicking and others holding mutilated containers waiting for the Hound Warrior who managed them to distribute food.

These people, who could be called children, were young but could be seen to be in very good physical condition, and they should have been trained from a very young age in Ouroboros Village, which had a clear social division of labor, and was carefully cultivated as fearless Chosen Warriors.

Andy lowered his glasses and looked at Danday.

"I noticed some boys living in some RVs over there?" Danday nodded.

"It's our nursery, it's also an orphanage.... We all grew up there, and the older Hound could become an instructor if he wanted to, where he would be responsible for teaching the kids combat skills. Lady-in-waiting sent by Lady Hecate would regularly clear up the children's doubts, teach them to maintain their devout faith in Lady Hecate, and teach them the various arts or philosophies that Lady Hecate allowed them to learn. Andy confirmed the situation and continued to hold up his goggles to see that on the south side of where the soldiers lived, there was another one that was piled up with debris of buildings and abandoned vehicles

A dark corner framed beneath the "city walls". There's a crumbling-looking building, made out of recycled scrap iron and crudely rebar.

The door was securely locked, and several hounds were on guard next to it, and the occasional entry and exit were all ragged and tired slaves.

It is clear that there was a slave barracks. It is hard to imagine the living conditions of the slaves inside, huddled in dark shacks, breathing foul and foul air, eating food inferior to dog food, and facing extremely heavy manual labor every day.

Andy put down his goggles and turned his head to look at the east side of the village, but the goggles were covered by a hand.

The thin man snatched the goggles.

"The rest of the place... Don't just look at it casually, you, an outsider. Andy raised an eyebrow and turned to look at Danday, but this time Danday seemed to support the thin man as well.

"The area beyond that does not belong to us Hekate hounds, the eastern part of the village belongs entirely to the daughters of Hekate. Your peeping is likely to cause unpleasant misunderstandings, and while you may have to go there later to investigate, be careful not to provoke any of the daughters of Hecate, or I can't guarantee that you'll be okay. Dan Dai explained it briefly, without going into detail about the specific structure of that part of the area, and Andy thought to himself that he probably didn't know much about the specifics there.

Although it may seem that Danday has the highest status and strong personal authority in the armed army of Hekatehounds, to put it bluntly, all order here is based on faith in Hekate himself.

From the various details, it can be seen that the female members who are closer to Ms. Hekate herself have a higher status in this society.

"The other place is the Holy Tower. The majestic three-storey building, which you won't be able to miss as soon as you enter, is a sacred place designed by Lady Hekate herself. You must not approach that area at will, anyone who trespasses will be considered to be trying to offend Lady Hecate, and then be attacked by the Divine Guard and the handmaidens within... There's no way that guy can come any closer, so there's no need for you to go over there. Danday stood up and motioned for Andy to follow him.

"Let's talk about it alone, there are some things I want to tell you." The two of them walked into a small door beside them, where there was a small separate room, and the gaps were tightly covered, as if it were a place for secret meetings, and the Hecate hounds outside did not follow in.

Danday seemed slightly relieved when the door closed, and he sat down in a wooden chair and motioned for Andy to find a place to sit.

Andy calmly pulled out a rusty iron stool and sat down, as if it had originally come from a car.

"What else?" Danday pulled out a simple metal coin in the shape of a serpentine from a nearby drawer and swirled it between his fingers.

"It's nothing.... While you can now walk around the village, be careful not to force your way in the areas to the east that belong to the Daughters of Hecate, except for not going near the Holy Tower. Especially where they make ointments and teach knowledge, if you go in casually, you won't end well... I suggest you take a look around our side, especially around the slave barracks, as well as around the corners of the market and some of the places between the walls and ravines near the gates that no one cares about. As he spoke, he suddenly fell silent, his expression seemed a little tangled, but in the end he made a decision.

"Hmm.... One last thing to say, you must keep this matter a secret for me. Andy agreed suspiciously, curious about what else could be done secretly with Danday's identity.

"That's it..... What should I say...", he hesitated, but finally spoke.

"I've been having a strong urge lately, my thoughts are getting clearer and clearer, I know what I want..... I would like you to put me in touch with a willing daughter of Hecate and ask her to apply to Lady Hecate. Andy felt a little funny, not thinking that Dendet's most intimate request would be such a thing.

"Okay .. So you need a female friend, right? Danday shook his head, seemingly not very agreeing with Andy's statement.

"What do you mean... Female friends? The first time I've heard of it, you people from the west always say weird words. In short, I hope to find a daughter of Hecate who is willing to marry me for life, and to go to the Holy Tower together to complete the union ceremony under the witness of Ms. Hecate, and to contribute a new strength to Ms. Hecate... You get the idea, right? Andy casually made a few ok gestures, and Dan Dai looked confused.
