The ancient here, in the understanding of the modern scholars, is value, not that the ancients had a gentleman's agreement, but today's people don't need a gentleman's agreement.
Therefore, in the eyes of the disciples of the Wenjing today, Yang Ming's third sentence is still attacking, and it hits the root of the matter, far more than what Hua Xin said before.
Yang Ming did not stop, and continued to speak: "If it is the ancient and modern times, the "Zhou Rites" is the system of the Zhou Gong, the "Book of Rites" is the rites of the Qin period, and the "Rites" is the rites of the Zhou period, then there is no error in the relevant records of the name, and the etiquette of each dynasty is different because of Yin, Zhou, and Qin. ”

Yang Ming continued to speak: "The 'ancient' people in the Qin Shi's "Book of Rites" are Yin and Zhou; The 'ancient' of Zhou's "Etiquette" is Yin. If the two are the same, it can be seen that the "ancients" mentioned in "the ancients were born without a lord, and died without a lord", and the "ancient" is also the system of Yin. ”

Since it is the system of Yin Shang, it naturally does not conflict with the system of Zhou Gong in "Zhou Li".

Note: "Today, it is said that the week is declining, and the time is also remembered." Ancient, said Yin. Yin Shisheng is not a knight, and death is not a lie. The Zhou system takes the scholar as the knight, and the death is not a deaf ear, and the doctor is also. At the time of this record, the death of the soldier is not true. It was started by Lu Zhuang. ”
In this commentary, whether it is the modern scripture "Rites" or the "Book of Rites", or the ancient scripture "Zhou Li", all of them are included, and there is no conflict at all.

Including "the ancients are not aligned, and they retreat by conclusion", to understand in time, Zhou to govern the country with etiquette, and in the Spring and Autumn Period, the vassal states can make an agreement and can be agreed orally.
However, with the advent of the Warring States period, the ritual system collapsed, and this verbal agreement essentially lost its effect.
As for scriptures that do not have ancient characters, they can be distinguished by the time of the text, just as it is in the system of patrolling.
When the scriptures are given time, many seemingly irreconcilable contradictions are solved.
And in this process, Yang Ming has invisibly broken some of the inherent concepts of the present Wenjing.
Compared with the current Wenjing's view of "ancient and modern values", for example, with a timeline, Confucius is no longer the only sage of the Five Classics.
This is actually the reason why Yang Ming must appear here as a disciple of the ancient scriptures.
Because only by using ancient scriptures can it be possible to break those stubborn concepts, and it is also possible to unify the scriptures.
After Yang Ming's exposition, the Confucian scholars of ancient and modern texts will be faced with a choice.
A choice they never thought they would have before, during, or even after the beginning of the Taixue Treatise.
For the Confucian scholars of today's scriptures, if they do not accept what Yang Ming said, they will definitely be defeated, and they will be defeated; And accept Yang Ming's words, they can maintain their current political status, provided that they need to abandon some of the preconceived notions of modern literature and classics.
