Volume 1 The Road to Rise Chapter 040 Sherlock's Accusations and Nock's Self-Defense
No one cares who Sherlock is, only what he does when he comes forward.
With a mocking look on his face, Nock said, "Well, young Mr. Detective, you just said that you want to expose my hypocritical face, so please start your show." โ
After saying that, Nock did not forget to politely make a gesture of invitation, and he took two steps back, vacating the place in front of him, as if he was really vacating the stage for the performance.
Nock's undisguised taunt made everyone laugh.
Sherlock listened to the ridicule in his ears and hated in his heart: "Stupid civilians, incurable bedbugs." โ
He restrained his emotions and looked at everyone calmly: "Ladies and gentlemen, I am Sherlock Holmes, the nephew of Ford Holmes mentioned earlier by Nock Lane. โ
"My uncle escaped the [Ripper's] murder because he was murdered by the [Ripper], and at the sacrifice of his servants. But after the incident, the police station was a little complaining about the confession provided by my uncle, and for this reason, my uncle paid a lot of money to entrust Nock Lane to investigate the matter of [The Ripper].
But the next day, the police station proved that my uncle's testimony was correct, so my uncle planned to go to Nock Lane to cancel the commission and get back the honorarium. โ
"But Nock Lane claimed that he had fought [the Ripper] last night, and that the police department was able to prove that my uncle's testimony was true, and that it was because of him that Nok Lane had done so, so instead of returning the gratuity, he extorted money from my uncle as a thank you. My uncle's servants can testify to this. โ
At this point, Sherlock deliberately paused and looked at Nock to see if he would interrupt himself angrily.
But Nock smiled and motioned for Sherlock to continue, which made Sherlock feel frustrated and annoyed.
He gritted his teeth and continued to speak: "Perhaps my uncle found something, and reluctantly left a box of thank-you gifts, and returned home angrily with his servants. But when he arrives home on the front foot, he receives a mysterious letter on the back foot. โ
"After reading the letter, the uncle left the house in a hurry, and hurried out of the city with a servant who was driving."
"After leaving the city, my uncle never came back. He's missing. โ
"The horse pulling the cart came back alone on the morning of the third day."
Sherlock paused, and the conversation shifted. Said:
"You must be wondering why I am saying such seemingly inconsequential things, right? Because, it will make my next accusations seem more plausible. โ
"Because I was investigating the truth about my uncle's disappearance, I knew that Nok Lane had been commissioned by my uncle, so I went to the door and asked him to investigate my uncle's whereabouts."
"At first, he refused, and only after I repeatedly asked and offered a heavy reward, he reluctantly agreed to me."
"On the third day, however, he took out only a board with the coat of arms of the Sherlock Holmes family, told me that it was the wreck of my uncle's carriage, warned me not to investigate my uncle's whereabouts, and then drove me out of the abbey in a bad manner."
"Nock Lane's pretentious behavior puzzled me. So I investigated his affairs in depth, only to find out that there was an unpleasant relationship between him and my uncle. โ
"Then, the perfunctory findings he gave me seem to make sense."
"But why did he perfunctory me? He could have refused my commission, and there was no need to perfunctory me with a charred plank. โ
"So, I had the charred plank examined and confirmed that it was indeed the wreck of the carriage in which my uncle had traveled."
"In this way, does it mean that Nock Lane actually knows my uncle's whereabouts, but he doesn't want to tell me?"
"Why is that?"
"Isn't that weird guys?"
Sherlock suddenly burst into emotion, excitedly stretched out his hand to Nock, and shouted, "But if he Nock Lane himself is related to my uncle's disappearance, or is the real culprit behind the scenes, can it explain his strange behavior?" โ
When everyone heard this, their expressions changed suddenly, and they all turned their suspicious eyes to Nock who was smiling.
Nock didn't seem to be at all worried about the accusations Sherlock had against him.
Sherlock felt that Nock was an incompetent bluff.
He continued to say excitedly: "Because, he is the [Ripper]! I deduced that he may have been attacking my uncle when he found out that my uncle was frightened by the death of his servant, hallucinated, and found it profitable. After giving my uncle some kind of hint, he deliberately let my uncle go. โ
"Then, after getting my uncle's heavy commission fee, he only had to attack the woman who returned late, as is customary, and then have an excuse to continue blackmailing my uncle. He did the same. โ
"However, his behavior angered my uncle, and in the confrontation, perhaps somewhere, a flaw was revealed, and my uncle discovered his secret, so my uncle left in a hurry."
"But he may have also noticed that my uncle knew his secret, and he even chased him to the house, and found someone to give my uncle a secret letter, which must have written threatening words, so my uncle left the house to see him without saying a word."
"Unexpectedly, my uncle will never come back. Obviously, it must have been poisoned by him! โ
"However, in the face of my temptation with a lot of money, he actually gave me the evidence that he attacked my uncle! And threatened me not to continue the investigation! โ
"If he wasn't the murderer, why didn't he tell me about my uncle's whereabouts! If he didn't know my uncle's whereabouts, then why was he able to take out the wreckage of my uncle's carriage after the attack! โ
"What the police station and my servants can't find, why can he be found by an orphan!"
"I can't think of any reason other than the answer that he's a murderer!"
Sherlock's angry roar echoed through the church, and the grievance and anger in his tone moved even the statue of the Virgin.
The way Nock looked at him changed, some gloating, some skeptical, some scared, and some nervous.
Only Nock kept a smile on his face.
Sheriff Alan Cowell jumped out even more proudly: "Nock Lane, what else do you have to say this time!" Don't hurry up and catch it! Any more quibbling will only make you more guilty! โ
Nock glanced at him arrogantly, and said unceremoniously: "Mr. Director, you want to condemn me just by saying this kind of one-sided words?" I mean, you're stupid, okay? Or can't wait? โ
"Are you going to arrest me without even giving me a chance to refute this Mr. Detective? In that case, why do you bother to find some witnesses and just forcibly take me away. โ
Allen's face turned blue with anger, he didn't want to! He didn't dare!
Light is a Markrem H. Hua has already given him a headache, and the ghost knows if there are any bored and prominent people in the crowd of onlookers who are mixed in to watch the excitement!
Seeing that Alan was so frightened that he didn't dare to say anything, Nock sneered disdainfully and continued:
"What Mr. Detective said, leaving aside the concealment and false speculation that is unfavorable to him, is generally correct."
As soon as Nock said this, Sherlock's face suddenly darkened.
What do you mean by unfavorable concealment and false speculation?
If you say anything unfavorable to you directly, it's all fake!
Sure enough, Nock's next words made Sherlock change color.
"First of all, I would like to state that I have no knowledge of the whereabouts of Mr. Ford Holmes. But according to the clues I have investigated, he has either been killed, or he is in great trouble, so big that I dare not touch it again, nor dare to interfere. That's why I refused the commission of Mr. Detective to continue the investigation. โ
Nock glanced at Sherlock, and then said in an exaggerated tone, "After all, I personally don't think it's worth it to gamble the lives of the Holy Master's servants for twelve gold coins. โ
"Oh, sorry, I forgot, there are still twenty silver coins." Nock's sarcastic eyes stung Sherlock deeply.
"I have to thank Mr. Detective for his generosity, after all, he didn't think to pay before, and it was the Holy Lord who influenced him, so he decided to donate a huge sum of twelve gold coins and twenty silver coins to the Abbey, and the Holy Lord sent me to accept his commission."
"Three days later, I did bring him back a board with the Crest of the Sherlock Holmes family crest. But I also brought back the news of the death of the servant who was traveling with Mr. Ford Holmes, so why didn't Mr. Detective mention it? โ
"Moreover, Mr. Detective didn't say anything about the fact that I returned from a serious injury!"
"Most importantly, the reason why I refused to continue investigating the whereabouts of Mr. Ford Holmes is that Mr. Detective did not say it!"
"In that case, I'll say it for Mr. Detective! It just so happened that I also wanted to ask everyone for their opinions to see if I had done anything wrong in refusing Mr. Detective's commission. โ
Nock's repeated "Mr. Detective" had already made Sherlock feel a strong sense of ridicule, but he didn't expect Nock to break his calculations about the abbey, and Sherlock immediately panicked.
But it was too late for him to stop Nock, and he only heard Nock say excitedly.
"The reason why I refused Mr. Detective's follow-up commission and kicked him out of the monastery was because he harassed my brothers and sisters every day while I was out to investigate the whereabouts of Mr. Ford Holmes for him.
Not only that, but he even sneaked into the monastery while the children were not at home, trying to sneak into my dwellings. โ
"What kind of behavior is this? He's a thief and a scoundrel! This is not the behavior of a nobleman! โ
"But you think that's all he has to do with his shamelessness?"
"Nope! His next behavior was even more shameless and bad! โ
"Enough! Shut up! Sherlock hurriedly stopped him, trying to interrupt Nock.
"Not enough! Mr. Detective, you have no right to stop me! People have the right to know the truth about the whole thing! Instead of being immersed in the stories you omitted to fabricate! โ
At this moment, Nock rebuked Sherlock with righteousness.
This made both Sherlock and Alan unconsciously flash a thought: things have become tricky!
[On March 3, I watched people sing to each other. I forgot to update the settings. Hehe, forget about not having a holiday in the field. o(*โงโฝโฆ)ใใ
