Seeing sentient beings in the cycle of life and death, wanting to go beyond the cycle of life and death, and seeking to get rid of themselves, it is called Hinayana ; He only asks for himself, but does not harm others. If someone wants to learn, he is willing to teach and help, but he cannot benefit all sentient beings, so the result is only to attain nirvana by himself. Therefore, the reason is also shallow, and it can only empty the self and cannot empty the ten thousand laws. The small fruits of the shallow practice are also small, that is, the fruits of the Hinayana initiation and even the Hinayana cultivation.
The motivation of the Mahayana is not for oneself, but for all sentient beings without oneself, and for sentient beings as oneself. If you kill yourself and sacrifice your life for righteousness, your own life does not belong to you but to all people; His heart is for the public, so he can become a bodhisattva.
There is a big difference between this, there is no certain range in Mahayana, and the bodhisattva's heart is immeasurable and boundless, so all sentient beings in the clouds have boundless vows. If you want to save the country, you should know the history of our country and the living conditions of the people, and then you can save the country. If you want to purify all sentient beings in the Dharma realm, you must first understand its reasoning, and then you can purify sentient beings.
If you see all kinds of troubles of sentient beings, you will know all kinds of methods; If you want to save immeasurable sentient beings, you must learn immeasurable methods. First from the initial mind bodhisattva status, gradually cultivate to the status of a Buddha, only then can all sentient beings become Buddhas, and then can really have the wisdom and ability to purify all sentient beings, otherwise there is a mind but not enough strength.
Therefore, Mahayana is the intention of universalizing sentient beings, thoroughly understanding everything in the immeasurable world and boundless sentient beings, and getting rid of their troubles; Only when we have to attain perfection can we become a Buddha, and only then can we become a Buddha, and only then can we have the function of universalizing all sentient beings. ”
In short, to speak of Mahayana and Hinayana is a metaphor. Mahayana metaphor can cross immeasurable sentient beings. Hinayana is a metaphor for crossing a small number of sentient beings. ”
Pei Lujun listened fascinated, "Is there a scripture for this Mahayana Buddhism?" ”
Li Xiuning nodded and said, "The Theory of Great Wisdom", "The Theory of Madhyamaka" and "The Theory of Treasures", but the Central Plains may not have them. I've only heard of it, but I've never seen it. ”

When practiced, it is possible to develop what is called "clear mind." So through practice, one can become an arhat or even a bodhisattva. If you can trigger all of them and manifest them completely, then you will become a Buddha. So naturally, you can benefit all sentient beings, because you have the possibility of supreme enlightenment. ”
Pei Lin said with a smile, "This is all said and said, our understanding of Buddhism is still a bit one-sided, after all, we are not Shamen people, and we are always biased in looking at these issues." ”
