Chapter 2 The Old Man's Methods

Chapter 2: The Father-in-law's Methods

In addition to the Eastern Jin, Song, Qi, Liang, and Chen in the south, which were built by the Han Chinese, there were also a few Han regimes in China, such as Xiliang (320-376, built by Zhang Mao), Ran Wei (350-352, built by Ran Min), Xiliang (400-421, built by Li Hui), Xishu (built by Qian Zong, 405-413), and Northern Yan (built by Feng Ba in 409-436). However, all of these regimes shone like fireworks briefly and were reduced to ashes, at a time when most of China's territory was under the rule of the Hu people.

Of course, Gao Yang, the founding emperor of the Northern Qi Dynasty, was Han Chinese, but Gao Huan was a Xianbei Han after all, and Gao Yang's mother Lou Zhaojun was a Xianbei person, so Gao Yang was not a Han in the strict sense.

At the end of the Northern and Southern Dynasties, a Han man in the Guanlong military aristocratic group was born, controlled the most strategic Guanzhong region in his hands, and finally unified China, ending the situation of serious division in China for a hundred years, and becoming one of the greatest Chinese emperors in the eyes of Westerners, and was revered as the "Sage Khan".

If you want to talk about this person, you have to start with Dugu Xin, "the first person in the world" and one of the eight pillars of the Western Wei Dynasty.

As mentioned above, Dugu Xin in the Guanlong military aristocratic group, whose real name is Dugu Ruwish, Xianbei Wang, a native of Wuchuan Town in the Northern Wei Dynasty (now southwest of Wuchuan, Inner Mongolia), and a generation of famous generals in the Western Wei Dynasty, was given the name Xin by Yuwentai, the actual ruler of the Western Wei Dynasty, because of his outstanding political achievements.

The biggest feature of Duguxin is that he is handsome. Not only handsome, but also first-class clothing, in the military camp enjoys the reputation of "Dugu Lang", by colleagues recognized as "Biren". It's just that because of the average military achievements, it is slightly inferior to Gao Changgong, the king of Lanling, in the Northern and Southern Dynasties, and can be called the male runner-up.

Once, Duguxin went out hunting and was already dusk when he wanted to return to Qinzhou City. In order to rush back before closing the city gate, Duguxin galloped quickly, and the hat on his head was slanted by the breeze. Under the reflection of the sunset, I saw a young man's crown and hat slightly oblique, fresh clothes and angry horses, and passers-by were dazzled.

Early the next morning, there was a new trend in the city of Qinzhou: the officials and the people all bought hats like Duguxin and wore them crookedly......

This can't help but remind Lao Wang of an anecdote from middle school: the principal of a middle school in his hometown, surnamed Sun, likes to wear a gray tweed coat that was still a rarity at that time in winter. When I say phi, I mean that the chest is not buttoned and the arms are not put into the sleeves.

Principal Sun has a big waist and round waist, big ears, and a burly figure, plus he is the head of state at school, and he is full of confidence. During recess exercises, he put on his coat and patrolled back and forth in front of the student team, and his aura suddenly detonated the entire playground.

Later, the students found that the director of the school's political and educational office and the director of the grade-level department also followed the same example, wearing a gray tweed coat, and followed Principal Sun to inspect the team during the exercise. However, these people, one by one, are either thin and small, with their coats sliding around on their bodies, or their level is too low, resulting in insufficient aura, or even a little obscene, just like a fat tiger followed by a group of skinny cats, which has become the talking point of the classmates after the lights are turned off.

The examples of Duguxin and Principal Sun show us that Biren can be surpassed, but it must not be imitated.

"Biren" Duguxin has three wives and has eight sons and seven daughters. As a noble family, it is not surprising that the sons are all officials, but none of them have much success, but the three daughters, all of whom later became famous all over the world.

Dugu Xin is a biren, according to the female father, the daughters generally do not grow into people.

The eldest daughter Dugu (real name unknown), her husband's name is Yuwenyu, Yuwenyu's father is called Yuwentai, and the last title of this daughter is Queen Mingjing.

The fourth daughter Dugu (real name unknown), her husband's name is Li Xun, Li Xun's father is called Li Hu, one of the Eight Pillars of the Western Wei Dynasty, Li Xun has a son named Li Yuan, and a more famous grandson named Li Shimin. This woman's last title is Empress Yuanzhen. Li Shimin had to call Dugu Xin his grandfather, that is, his great-grandfather.

The seventh daughter Dugu Jialuo, her father-in-law is Yang Zhong of the twelve generals of the Western Wei Dynasty, her husband's name is Yang Jian, and the last title of this woman is Queen Wen.

Seven daughters and three queens, Dugu Xin can be called the world's first father-in-law and national father-in-law.

Yang Jian, of Han nationality, was born in Huayin, Hongnong County (now Huayin County, Shaanxi Province). Regarding the origin of Hongnong Huayin Yang's family, it has been explained in the first part of this article, and now let's review it.

Yang Xi, the palace security captain of Liu Bang, the ancestor of the Han Dynasty, was named the Marquis of Chiquan because he divided the body of Xiang Yu and robbed half of the butt of the overlord of Western Chu, and his fief was in the area of Nanyang, Henan Province. Yang Xi's third grandson is Yang Chang, the prime minister of the Western Han Dynasty. Yang Chang's wife is the daughter of Ma Qian, the famous Taishi Company, of course, this daughter was born before Taishi Gong was sentenced to the palace.

Yang Xi's eighth grandson, that is, Yang Chang's fifth grandson Yang Zhen, was the Situ and Taiwei of the Eastern Han Dynasty, and Yang Zhen's death directly led to the decline of Confucianism and the rise of metaphysics. Hongnong Huayin Yang has been a famous family since then, and the most famous man in later generations is called Yang Jian, who is Emperor Wen of Sui. The most famous woman is Wu Yang, who became famous not because of herself, but because of her daughter, Wu Cao, that is, the Emperor of the Great Sage, the only orthodox empress in Chinese history.

Yang Jian's father, Yang Zhong, was originally a commander under the brother of Zhu Rong of the Northern Wei Dynasty, and when the Northern Wei Dynasty was divided into the Eastern and Western Wei Dynasty, Yang Zhong joined the Western Wei camp with Dugu Xin and became one of the twelve generals of the Western Wei Dynasty.

After the establishment of the Northern Zhou Dynasty, Yang Zhong was appointed as a marshal, and was awarded the title of Shangzhu State and the Duke of the Kingdom by the Northern Road. The surname is Puliuru.

Yang Zhong's second and third sons also married the Yuwen royal family one after another, the second married Yuwentai's nephew's daughter Yu Chi, and the third Yang Zan (Yang Sanlang) married the eldest princess of Shunyang, the sister of Emperor Wu of Zhou.

Yang Jian started his career at the age of 14, was brave and good at fighting, and made many military exploits when he conquered the Northern Qi Dynasty, and later inherited his father.

Yang Jian's appearance is majestic and beautiful. Yuwentai's fifth son, Qi Wang Yu Wenxian, once warned his fourth brother Emperor Wu of Zhou, Yuwen Yong: Pu Liuru Jian is very good-looking, every time the minister sees it, he doesn't feel that he is lost, and he is afraid that he is not human, please get rid of it as soon as possible.

People with a big heart, with a strong aura, are often not things in the pool.

Yu Wenyong was suspicious of Yang Jian for a long time, but he was still hesitant whether to cut Yang Jian off immediately.

He decided to be superstitious for a while, find a minister who is good at physiognomy, and give Yang Jian a face.

The minister came and and. This man is not a street warlock who wears sunglasses and talks nonsense, but an academician of the fortune-telling academy, because he has the results of the C journal - the author of forty volumes of the "Xiangjing".

Lai He said to Yu Wenyong: Yang Jian is extraordinary, but he is very reliable, if His Majesty sends him to lead an army to attack the Chen Dynasty, he will attack everything.

One person's words are not enough to confirm the diagnosis, so Yu Wenyong found another person to verify it.

Xiangshi Zhao Zhao.

Zhao Zhao does not have a C journal paper, but he is also famous. In front of Yu Wenyong, after carefully observing Yang Jian's face, Zhao Warlock calmly reported the results to Yu Wenyong in private:

Your Majesty doesn't have to worry too much, although Yang Jian's appearance is not ordinary, he is just a general at most.

Emperor Wu of Zhou, Yu Wenyong, finally let Yang Jian go.

Actually, what Yu Wenyong didn't know was that the two people he was looking for were Yang Jian's friends. Even the random face is Yang Jian's old iron, and Yang Jian's power in the Northern Zhou Dynasty can be seen.

After Yuwenyong's death, his eldest son Yuwenyun ascended the throne, that is, Emperor Xuan of the Northern Zhou Dynasty. After Yu Wenyun succeeded to the throne, Yang Jian was promoted to the general of the Zhu State and the Great Sima, because Yang Jian was his father-in-law.

Yang Jian's eldest daughter, Yang Lihua, married the then crown prince Yuwen Zhen as a concubine in 573 at the age of 13. After Yuwenyun ascended the throne in 578, 18-year-old Yang Lihua was promoted to empress.

Yu Wenyun is more suspicious of his father-in-law Yang Jian, but he is an out-and-out second pole. Any mature adult will understand a truth: before the thing is done, don't tell anyone, but Yu Wenyun once bluntly said to Queen Yang Lihua: I must destroy your Yang family.

Yu Wenyun said so and did the same. He ambushed the sword and axe man in the palace and ordered: I will pass Yang Jian into the palace, as long as Yang Jian is a little rude, he will be killed!

Notify the other party in advance before killing a political enemy, and it depends on whether this person is polite or not, and hand over the decision to the knife and axe hands.

After the notice and preparation were completed, Yu Wenyun summoned Yang Jian into the palace on the grounds of discussing political affairs. Yang Jian was naturally prepared in his heart, and after entering the palace, no matter how excited Yu Wenyun was, he was calm.

Yuwenyun had no chance to kill, and Yang Jian escaped again.

Accompanying the king is like accompanying the tiger, and the killing machines in the capital are everywhere, and they can no longer stay for a long time.

Yang Jian revealed to Yu Wenyun through his friend Zheng Yi, a doctor in the history of the interior, that he had long intended to leave the town and the outside domain. This is exactly what Yu Wenyun wanted, and he appointed Yang Jian as the governor of Yangzhou and drove him out of the capital.

Yang Jian finally stayed away from the land of right and wrong for the time being.

Yu Wenyun is also a second generation of emperors who are difficult to describe. Before his accession to the throne, his father, Emperor Wu of Zhou, Yuwen Yong, disciplined him very strictly, and punished him severely whenever he made mistakes. When Yuwen Yong died, Yu Wenyun had no sense of grief, stroked the beaten cane marks on his feet, and shouted loudly at his father's coffin: Why did you die!

Then, immediately called his father's concubines together, lined up for a review, and the handsome ones all turned on the green light, and accepted them as their concubines one by one, hugging these young stepmothers into the flowers, and the spring breeze was all over the place.

After selectively accepting his stepmother, Yu Wenyun slaughtered his own uncle, Yu Wenxian, the king of Qi, who made great military exploits and made great achievements when he conquered Northern Qi.

At the same time, Yu Wenyun ordered Jin to make an exception to promote a Han nationality as the general of Kaifu Yitong and the doctor in the internal history, and entrusted him with the power of the court. This Han man, who used to be a doctor under the officials, was the first adviser of Yu Wenyun when he was the prince.

This person's name is Zheng Yi, that's right, he is the one who went out of Yangzhou for Yang Jian and delivered a message to Yuwenyun.

Zheng Yi is a friend of Yang Jian, a very good friend.

After completely entrusting the government to Zheng Yi, Yu Wenyun lived in the harem by himself, drinking and prostituting all day long.

The motive of all human actions is to find happiness. Wine-colored, promote dopamine secretion, can make people happy. The happy Yu Wenyun felt that it didn't matter if the emperor was wrong.

In 579, at the age of 20, Yuwenyun gave up the throne to his 6-year-old son, Emperor Zhou Jing, Yuwenxian, and proclaimed himself Emperor Tianyuan, becoming the second youngest emperor in history after Emperor Xianwen of the Northern Wei Dynasty Tuoba Hong (17 years old).

Lying flat makes people happy, and lying flat too early can also hurt people's vitality. In May 580, after lying flat for one year, Yu Wenyun, who was overly drunk, fell ill and died at the age of 21.

As soon as Yu Wenyun died, Zheng Yi completely took refuge in Yang Jian. He pretended to have an edict, and Yang Jian, the governor of Xuanyangzhou, entered the auxiliary government of the dynasty.

Yang Jian finally returned to the capital and appointed himself as the prime minister and the governor of the internal and external military.

Being able to dodge the butcher's knife of the royal family and return to Beijing to control the power of the court depends on many friends, Laihe, Zhao Zhao, Zheng Yi, thank you.

Once the supreme power fell into the hands of Yang Jian, Yang Jian was no longer polite and began a plan to usurp the throne of the Northern Zhou Dynasty. The usurpation plan was carried out in three steps:

The first step is to win over the generals for their own use.

The old man Dugu Xin, one of the eight pillars of the Western Wei Dynasty, his father Yang Zhong, one of the twelve generals of the Western Wei Dynasty, himself entered the official career at the age of fourteen and participated in the war against the Northern Qi Dynasty, and his daughter was the queen of the Northern Zhou Dynasty, coupled with his high emotional intelligence and good popularity, all of which made Yang Jian accumulate a wide range of contacts in the Northern Zhou Dynasty.

There is a more important point, look at the senior generals of the Northern Zhou Dynasty: Li Xun, Duke of Longxi (Feng Xiaolian's last husband), Liang Shiyan, Duke of Wuxiang, Cui Hongdu, Duke of Qinghe, Yang Su, Governor of Bingzhou, Li Mu, Governor of Bingzhou, Han Baohu, Governor of Hezhou, Liang Rui, Governor of Liangzhou, Gao Gong, Silu of Xiangfu, and Wei Xiaokuan, Governor of Yanzhou, these people have a common identity.

Han.

Here I would like to highlight Li Mu, the governor of the state. Li Mu, born in the Li clan of Chengji in Longxi, Gaomen, is a descendant of Li Ling, the commander of the Western Han Dynasty. As mentioned above, Yang Jian is a descendant of Sima Qian's daughter, and Sima Qian was tortured by Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty for interceding for Li Ling. Now, more than 600 years later, the descendants of the two have gathered again to conspire for a great cause, and I have to say that this is the will of God.

Han generals in the Northern Zhou Dynasty continued to rise to the highest echelons of power through military exploits, and Yang Jian's Han status enabled him to gain the support of the vast majority of senior Han officers.

However, this does not mean that ethnic minority generals do not support Yang Jian, and ethnic minority generals such as Le'an Gongyuan Harmony, Huazheng Gongyu Wenxin, and Puyang Gongyu Wenshu (Yu Wenhua and his father) are also willing to serve Yang Jian.

It is crucial to have the support of the military.

The second step is to cut off the powerful faction of the Northern Zhou clan.

The power of the Yuwen royal family of the Northern Zhou Dynasty was strong, and the most representative ones were the five kings who could conquer and fight: Zhao Wangyu Wenzhao, Chen Wangyu Wenchun, Yue Wang Yuwensheng, Dai Wang Yuwenda, and Teng Wang Yuwen.

These five kings followed Emperor Wu of the Northern Zhou Dynasty, Yuwen Yong, to fight in the south and the north, with a respected status and considerable strength.

How to deal with these powerful clans? Others may have to think a little bit of brains, but Yang Jian's method is very simple - capture the thief first and kill the king first.

How can you kill five kings at the same time? It's also very simple.

Zhao Wangyu Wenzhao, Chen Wangyu Wenchun, Yue Wang Yu Wensheng, Dai Wang Yuwenda, and Teng Wang Yu Wenkui successively received an order from Yang Jian, the prime minister of the current dynasty, and the order was: In order to make peace with the Turks, the royal daughters should marry the Turks, and the five kings should come to Chang'an to discuss matters.

This is a state affair and a family affair, and the five kings couldn't think of a reason not to come to Chang'an, so they all came. When I came, I couldn't go back, and I was stewed by Yang Jian.

The road to simplicity. Sometimes seemingly complex problems are extremely easy to solve, the key is whether you have the courage and determination to cut through the mess quickly.

The third step is to cut off the other opposition.

The biggest opposition is a local warlord, the one mentioned earlier, Yang Jianlin's granddaughter overturned Queen Dugu's vinegar jar.

Wei Chi Yuan. Wei Chi Hui, the nephew of Emperor Wen of the Northern Zhou Dynasty, Yu Wengong, guarded Yecheng, was in a high position, brave and good at fighting, and saw that Yang Jian had usurpation ambitions, and raised troops against Yang.

Yang Jian first used the policy of peace and proximity to stabilize the northern Turks, and then coerced the young Emperor Jing of the Northern Zhou Dynasty to order China and foreign countries, appointed Wei Xiaokuan as the marshal, and sent troops to defeat Wei Chi Yuan.

With the defeat and suicide of Wei Chi Yuan, all stumbling blocks were removed.

On the Jiazi Day in February 581, Yang Jian forced Emperor Jing of the Northern Zhou Dynasty to issue an edict announcing that Chan would give way to him. Before ascending the throne, he had to give in as usual, and Yang Jiansan gave up the mandate of heaven, named the country as the Great Sui, changed the Yuan Emperor, and announced an amnesty for the world.

Yang Jian became Emperor Wen of Sui.

During the period of the Northern and Southern Dynasties, the change of dynasty or the establishment of a new king caused massacres of clans were commonplace. Yang Jian is not a benevolent Bodhisattva, in order to eradicate future troubles, he issued an edict to slaughter the Northern Zhou clan.

The Northern Zhou clans that were killed were: 25 descendants of Emperor Wen, 6 descendants of Emperor Xiaomin and Emperor Ming, and 12 descendants of Emperor Wu.

After Emperor Jing of the Northern Zhou Dynasty Yuwen expounded the Zen throne, what was the treatment?

Yuwen was only 9 years old when he was on the throne, Yang Jian Feng Yuwen was the Duke of Jieguo, 10,000 households, and the car clothes and music were still according to the old system of the Son of Heaven.

Unlike countries such as Britain and Thailand, in ancient China, the retention of the emperor's treatment was an ominous signal, and all those who retained the emperor's treatment did not end well. Even if you sign the regulations, you have to be kicked out of the palace, at least get out of the way. Sure enough, on May 9, 581, Yang Jian secretly sent someone to kill the 9-year-old grandson Yuwen Xian, who retained the emperor's treatment, and then deliberately expressed his shock, announced the news of his death, and solemnly mourned.

Yu Wenyun's other two young sons, who were still in his arms, also died mysteriously.

Under the dragon chair of every founding emperor, there is no shortage of ghosts and dry bones of the previous dynasty.

It is worth mentioning that Yang Jian's daughter, Yang Lihua, the empress of the Northern Zhou Dynasty, did not agree with her father's usurpation. Although Emperor Jing of the Northern Zhou Dynasty was not her biological son, when Emperor Jing gave the throne to Yang Jian, Yang Lihua was extremely angry and sad and regretful.

Yang Jian felt quite ashamed of Yang Lihua and named her Princess Leping in 586. Later, for the sake of her happiness, she was asked to remarry. Yang Lihua pointed to her father's nose and said coldly: I am the queen mother, who can marry?

Yang Jian was embarrassed. There is only one family in history that has changed from the queen mother to a princess.

In 609, Yang Lihua died in Hexi at the age of 49 while accompanying his younger brother Emperor Yang of Sui to tour Zhangye.

Yang Lihua and Emperor Xuan of the Northern Zhou Dynasty Yuwenyun only have an only daughter, Yuwen Eying, son-in-law Li Min, and granddaughter Li Jingxun. In 1957, archaeologists from the Institute of Archaeology of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences accidentally discovered the most complete and highest-grade Sui Dynasty tomb - Li Jingxun's tomb near Liangjiazhuang in the west of Xi'an.

After slaughtering the Northern Zhou royal family and consolidating the throne, what will Yang Jian do next?
