Chapter 19: The Temple of Silver and Tin
Haina was stunned for a moment, and then realized in fear what she had said.
Thankfully, she was asking Mr. Sherlock, not Director Kent!
"As for why I didn't enter the Inspectorate......"
Sherlock said lightly: "Because I am a similar but different person from you, I can't go far eitherβnot the more talented and excellent people in this world, the higher they can go." I understood this when I graduated. β
ββ¦β¦ What do you mean? β
"Meaning I'm just like you. It is more inclined to other ways than authoritarian paths. β
Undeterred, the black-haired young man said calmly, "What I asked Mr. Kent for is the mysterious book of the path of wisdom. I helped him with the problem, and he gave me a ban on books in his personal name β it was a fair deal to take advantage of each other. Now, my second path is almost at the second level...... Compared with the way of authority, the way of wisdom is the path I really yearn for. β
"But ......"
What else did Haina want to say.
But her instincts were suddenly struck. So she immediately looked vigilant and kept silent.
The two faced each other in silence for five or six seconds before a panting middle-aged man ran around the corner.
"Haina - I've finally found you, I've been looking for you for a long time! Hey, Advisor Sherlock is too! Great, the Director is looking for you! β
"Is there anything wrong with Mr. Kent?"
Sherlock retorted unceremoniously, "I have other things to do now." β
He didn't say anything...... But I think you'd better go check it out. It won't be delayed for long, will it? β
The middle-aged man smiled and said, "You know, Mr. Sherlockβif it's something boring, Mr. Director won't invite you to come here, right?" β
"Okay."
Sherlock nodded in agreement.
He said, looking at Hayna on the side: "That's another reason.
"I'm an active person. If there's nothing to do, I'm upset...... But if I'm asked to do mundane, repetitive work, I'll get bored. I need problems and strong enemies to get me excited.
"Your usual patrols are too boring. If I have that time, I might as well read a few more books and do some experiments. Even if you travel alone like a wandering monk, it is much more meaningful than the repetition of each day.
"I don't want to be famous, and I don't want merit. All I need is work that makes use of my wits to give vent to my nowhere else to my energy β and by the way, to satisfy my curiosity. That's why I'm working with you. β
"Alright, Mr. Sherlock."
The middle-aged man smiled bitterly: "You'd better hurry up and get off - the sooner you finish listening to the director's mission, you can do your own thing sooner, right?" β
Sherlock was noncommittal and headed for the Kent Commissioner's office.
The other side.
At the heart of Glass Island, the capital of Avalon, is a crystal clear, sapphire-like lake.
The royal family of the Kingdom of Avalon lives on an island within an island, in the middle of a lake in the midst of the capital's glass island. It was a temple of silver and tin, blessed by a silver-crowned dragon with glass steps. A bright flame of light shines under the sunlight on a sunny day, and a soft glow like a dream even on a cloudy day.
In the Temple of Silver and Tin, a blonde girl who looked to be fourteen or fifteen years old was quietly flipping through today's issue of the Glass Steps.
She appears to have elven blood, so she looks younger than she really is. With a gentle countenance and a straight back, the smooth back of her dress reflected the sun's light with the silver and tin temple she was in. She has a quiet temperament that belongs to a literary girl, and her eyes are as calm as water.
And an elf who looked to be twenty or thirty years old, with both the mature charm of a woman and the innocence of a girl, was smiling and sitting opposite the girl with his hands on his cheeks. She has a distinctly artistic temperament β not an illusion, but an influence from the path of beauty.
"I didn't lie to you, did I, my little princess?"
The elven artist smiled and said, "I told you yesterday that I saw a very handsome person. I deliberately gave him a full twelve seconds this time, just to keep that crucial smile back.
"My aesthetic is absolutely fine β that smile is the key, to retain his charm as much as possible. Seriously, I even wanted to paint a picture of him. However, I don't feel like I'm in a hurry at this time, and I will definitely have the opportunity to meet him in the future. β
ββ¦β¦ Truly. β
The girl nodded quietly, "Teacher Janis is right. Mr. Ewass' smile is reminiscent of the sun.
"If you are the same age as me and at the same level as you, you can personally lead people to capture demon scholars who are much stronger than you...... There are no errors in the investigation, judgment and reasoning in the process. It's powerful and it's brave.
She whispered, "I can't do it." Because I'm timid. β
There was a yearning and despair on the girl's face.
- It is the yearning that a sober and kind person inspires from the depths of his heart when he sees a person of his kind who is much stronger than himself; and not jealousy or self-deception, but honesty in the recognition of the fact that you are far inferior to the other person.
"He's amazing."
The girl repeated.
"Ahh
Looking at her like this, Yanis made a pity-teasing sound like a puppy in a little frenzy, shoved the girl into her arms and rubbed her hair a few times: "Little Isa, you are so cute! β
"Please call me Isabel, Teacher Janis."
Isabel whimpered, reached out to cover her hair, and said seriously, "Also, please don't mess with my hairβ
"And I don't know where I'm cute. I'm just telling the truth. β
"You're cute, you're cute, and you're so cute that you don't need to explain anything at all."
"Sounds so stupid. I'm an idiot. β
Isabel was a little annoyed and a little lost: "I can't even draw well. β
"You're already a genius, Isabeth."
Speaking of this topic, Janis became serious: "It's just that the people you come into contact with are more talented than you.
"Isn't your path of beauty also about to advance? It's great to be able to reach the second energy level at this age...... And I'm teaching you in a more solid way, so that you start a little later, but you can go further later. β
"I think it's just because my father is Prince Albert."
Isabel lowered her head and whispered, "I don't have anything remarkable about myself.
"If Mr. Eivas had been a prince, he would have gone earlier and farther than I did."
"Ivas is a special case. You don't have to think too much about it. Even Her Majesty read the newspapers and said he was a great young man...... You don't have to compare yourself with this kind of person. β
ββ¦β¦ Grandma too?! β
Isabel was shocked: "Grandma rarely praises people...... Is that demon scholar so powerful? β
"It's not combat, it's not even the ability to search. Her Majesty valued the decisiveness with which he fired those two shots. In terms of results, although these two shots only killed a second-level demon scholar, what they actually showed was his outstanding and swift judgment, the kind of confidence that absolutely trusted his own judgment, and the steady execution.
"Her Majesty said it herself, he has the air of a general. You don't want to think about it, it must have been her old man who nodded, so I dared to put him on the front page and write such a large page. It's because Her Majesty said that the young people of the kingdom should learn itβand although I don't think they can learn it, it's good to let everyone see the handsome and beautiful boys. β
Yanis shook her head helplessly: "You are only compared with the strongest people, but every time you can't compare, you immediately feel inferior and retreat, it's time to change." β
"I think if you want to compare yourself with your peers, you have to compare the strongest ones."
Princess Isabel said seriously: "Because I enjoy the best resources, and if I can't achieve the best, I will waste resources." They should be able to reach those who need them more. β
ββ¦β¦ You. β
Janis sighed, only to feel that Princess Isabel was amazingly stubborn.
"That's right, Mr. Janis."
Isabel suddenly asked, "What did Mr. Ivas see?" What is he beckoning to? β
"Actually, I'm not there."
Janis shook her head, "But I asked the videographer." He said it was a little girl selling flowers nearby.
"The girl called him 'very gentle big brother'. I think he politely bought a bouquet of flowers from her before. Evas was indeed a very polite lad - if you had the chance, you could invite him to sit in the Temple of Silver and Tin. Let's talk about the story that happened at that time, as well as what he thought and how he judged...... I think that must be interesting. And Her Majesty would have allowed it.
"βyou must be looking forward to it, Isabel?"
Isabel didn't reply, but clenched her little fists slightly, and opened her beautiful, emerald eyes wide and yearning like a child.
