Chapter 13: Patients and Medical Expenses
West watched as Edward and the staff's backs drifted away, a sense of foreboding welled up in his heart.
Edward and the staff member walked down the hospital hallway, which was lined with indifferent white walls, white and flawless, and the lights were dim and dim, casting distorted shadows. The walls reflected a cold glow, like pale moonlight, and the surroundings were silent. Edward's heart was solemn, and he felt the smell of medicine in the air, like a thick air of poison, which was suffocating. The reverberations of each step were extraordinarily heavy, as if to remind Edward that he was stepping into a realm full of danger and treachery.
"That man isn't your brother." The staff's voice suddenly rang out in the hallway.
His pace was still steady, and his voice was still flat.
But Edward knew, and the man saw it.
Edward's impromptu plan was to keep West in the hospital as a family member and then avoid West and leave here under the pretext of going home and getting money, but now this option seems to be out of place.
"It doesn't matter, for us it's just the difference between the patient and the medical bill"
Hearing this, a big question suddenly rose in Edward's heart.
"What do you mean?" he tried to probe, but the staff didn't respond, and the silence was like a shadow on the wall.
In the quiet corridor, the mysteries of the dialogues are intertwined, making the whole scene feel like a Shakespearean play.
Edward's instincts told him that there might be a deeper meaning hidden in what the staff was saying.
The staff led Edward into a room, which Edward guessed was supposed to be an examination room. It's just that the environment is a bit special, there is a medical bed in the center of the room, the bed is covered with white sheets, smooth and cold. On the walls hung something peculiarly shaped as medical tools and instruments, glowing faintly and with a cold glow.
"Go and lie down on that bed"
Edward didn't ask him where the doctor was, and lay down on the bed very cooperatively, and as Edward lay down, the bed rose slightly, lifting him gently to keep his body in a stable position. He felt a soft layer of light spill down from the lamp at the head of the bed, illuminating his face. The staff member whispered, "Relax."
Edward was still thinking hard about what the staff member meant by what he had just said.
My gut tells myself that this sentence is important and very important!!
He muttered to himself: "Only patients and medical expenses can appear." ”
Edward still hadn't figured it out
"Patient and medical expenses?"
Seeing Edward's frowning face, the staff member looked playful and repeated it again
"Relax, Patient"
The difference is that this time he said two more words, and his tone changed a little, and he felt that he was holding back a smile.
"Patients? I'm a patient?!!! ”
The staff member's words reverberated in his ears like a thunderbolt. Edward's mind flashed with possibilities, speculations and speculations.
"Then since the hunter outside is not a patient, then he can only be a ......"
"Medical expenses !!".
Edward blurted out
The staff member in a green, blackened robe, with a black beak-shaped mask completely obscuring his facial expression, leaving only two deep eye sockets, through which his eyes flashed with a playful light.
