Chapter 43: The Planetary Governor
Compared to the energy that erupted when Lieutenant Colonel Arvada stormed the temporary command room of the Castreo City Chapel's Reliquary, even the raging waves of orcs roaring out of the jungle rushing into Outpost Three were nothing.
The look in his eyes scared the lone guard outside to the ground.
Then he skillfully "opened" the door with a power punch.
When he rushed in, there was a boom, the wooden door shattered, and splinters flew dangerously in the air.
Planetary Governors Missom and Major General Nilome, who were in the command room, both widened their eyes and turned pale, unable to believe that their soldiers would "knock" on the door and be knocked to the ground by the energy of the destructive position.
The female staff officer's body was relatively strong, and she climbed up the fastest.
"Lieutenant Colonel Arvada!" The staff officer yelled. "What does this mean? You almost killed someone! I'll sentence you right away. ”
"I don't seem to be able to kill anyone, staff officer." Arvada replied.
Staff Officer Redwin had already shaken off her long black coat and reached for her blaster pistol.
"Deliberately endangering the lives of superior officers. Section 416A of the Astral Force Disciplinary Regulations states that a staff officer present shall be sentenced immediately and sentenced to death. ”
Lieutenant Colonel Arvada didn't seem worried. "I'm not the one who should be convicted, Staff Officer Redwin."
Lieutenant Colonel Arvada pointed to Planetary Governor Misom. "He is."
"What?" Governor Misom objected with his pitiful screech.
Staff Officer Redvin said. "Are you trying to pass the buck?"
Arvada was furious.
"You're saying we're dealing with nothing more than a bunch of space orcs and a handful of native orcs, aren't you?"
Major General Nilom replied. "Yes, that's the case."
Arvada asked. "And have you heard the story of the ghost orcs?"
Nilom said, "It's just a legend. ”
Lieutenant Colonel Arvada stared at the Major General, "So, you don't know that the orcs who occupied Outpost No. 3 are the so-called "special warfare kids"? ”
Governor Misom said. "Orcs are orcs."
"That's not your average orc, we've learned that lesson in Karst, ghost orcs are real. ”
"They're a bunch of special operations kiddies led by the current war boss One-Eye, and they're few in number, but far deadlier than any orcs I've ever encountered."
Staff Officer Redwin said, "I understand the pain of losing a soldier, but I believe this can be seen as a mistake in intelligence under the chaos of the magnetic field. ”
Arvada shouted. "I'm not done yet, Staff!"
"Major General Nilom, the task you gave me, I have completed it, and now there are probably tens of thousands of orcs around it, and now, I tell you, we can't even leave this world, because the orbital equipment is watched by several evil orc engines!"
Nilom spoke, "I... Well... I guess the situation... Not that bad? ”
Arvada smiled, but it wasn't a good smile. "Major General, if this mission had achieved exciting results, do you think I would still be so angry?"
Arvada turned to the grumbling of the planetary governor Misom. "Governor, it's almost time for you to say it, what have we encountered?"
Nilom said, "What the hell is going on? ”
The Governor whispered. "It's just that there are a little more orcs than expected..."
Arvada shouted. "A little?! I've seen almost thousands, and many more are heading towards the orc colony! ”
"Their waaagh will kill us! And now we can't even get out of here! ”
Governor Misom shouted. "It can't be! There aren't that many greenskins in my world! ”
Major General Nilom said, "Lieutenant Colonel! ”
"What the hell is going on?"
Arvada saw that Governor Misom kept an eye on him while he was talking to Nilom. Just as he thought.
Misom's face immediately lost its color, but Arvada continued. "We followed the traces of the battlefield to that place, and in addition to the one-eyed orcs, more tribes are joining."
The look on Major-General Nilom's face is enough to confirm that Arvada's account feels credible. "Is it a whole army?"
Arvada replied. "It's worse."
Arvada immediately turned to Staff Officer Redvin. "Counselor, our relationship is a bit shaky, and I know you don't have jurisdiction over a planetary governor."
"So I can't ask you to do much here, but can you turn a blind eye to my transgression for a moment?"
The staff officer replied. "It depends on your reliability."
Arvada pointed to Governor Misom and said, "He knows the number of wild orcs here, but he has been hiding it from the Empire. ”
"I don't know!" Misom stammered, "I, I, I don't know anything about orcs. ”
Arvada yelled. "There are thousands of wild orcs in the jungles around your planet's capital."
"Even the most incompetent and worthless dungpits in the Imperial world can report half or more of the exact population of wild orcs because they are not difficult to spot."
Governor Misom said with shame like a man with blood on his hands. "It's because, ah, it's because of the planet's, you know, magnetic field. It's hard for us to monitor, and it's ...... We didn't know they existed. ”
Arvada looked at the staff officer. "May I?"
Staff Officer Redwyn nodded, and Arvada grabbed the Planetary Governor in an instant, in a single breath.
He grabbed his throat with his modified hand and squeezed it tightly. The Governor made a sound like a frightened mouse.
"Listen to me, you mild world."
Arvada roared. "If I grab your body with a power punch like this and squeeze it hard, your head will explode like a pus-pus-pus."
The Governor writhed in vain like a wet towel in the lieutenant colonel's hand, Arvada continued. "Why didn't you tell us about the wild orcs?"
"I don't know—" The Governor was still trying to break free, but Arvada clenched again, the servos roared, and Misom screamed.
"Alright! All right! I know! ”
Arvada let him go. Misom rubbed his reddened neck. "Say."
The Governor said tremblingly. "We've experienced several orc invasions over the years, and they always seem to make a comeback."
"Every time the orcs invade, we thought they had been driven away, and they would pop up again, either more orcs from space or a wild orc infection."
"My grandfather, when he was Governor, claimed that he had fought off the last infection without Imperial assistance, but when wild orcs flooded again, he was clearly wrong."
"Every time we ask for help, the Empire doesn't seem to care much about our planet. Our tithes are not big enough to sustain us in devoting endless resources to prepare for the next time. ”
Arvada said, shaking her head. "You're silent about the orc infection because you're worried about money."
The Governor shouted. "You don't know what it's like to keep a world moving."
"We are a garden world, and the Empire demands a lot from us, but if we get infected by the Orcs again and again, eventually the Empire will abandon us."
"We decided to figure it out ourselves, and then, um...... The lies are getting bigger and bigger. ”
"Until now, the orcs have been everywhere, the city has been destroyed long ago, and the eleventh tax has been reduced, so we waited for the Astral Army."
Arvada turned to Staff Officer Redvin. "Can you drop the charges against me, staff officer?"
Redwin turned from Arvada to Governor Misom. "Yes, Lieutenant Colonel, very good. You're right, I don't have jurisdiction over planetary governors, but I do think this thing is... It's worth it..."
Governor Misom pleaded. "No, no, no! Please don't bring the court in. ”
"Shut up," Redvin said. "Not reporting orc infections is tantamount to treason."
Arvada turned to Major General Nilom. "Sir, I know you've done a good job of clearing the Gondeva system of orcs, but what the Gondeva VI government has done has ruined this effort."
"At the moment, we have real big war bosses in this world, and the situation is definitely going to be even worse."
"How could they be worse, Lieutenant Colonel?" Nilom asked.
"If we don't lift the blockade again, we won't even be able to evacuate, and if anyone realizes the reality, we'll be ...
Before the words could be spoken, a lieutenant left the room in a panic. "Sir!"
"The Navy says they won't try to resupply again, the losses are beyond imagination!"
Major General Nilom's face turned pale.
"Sir?" The lieutenant repeated.
The major general sighed and made a crazy decision in his heart.
"Lieutenant!"
"Yes, sir!" The lieutenant said.
He replied. "You answer them, the orc blockade is over soon, just..."
"Within a week!"
