Chapter Forty-Eight: The Man in the Backyard
Rachel Ross considers herself an ordinary girl, but all sorts of strange things happen around her.
For example, the cross hanging in front of the door is always turned upside down, there are always crows flying in front of the house, and the red wine at home will inexplicably smell of blood......
Rachel's mom always told her that this was all normal, that there was always something strange in the world, and that there was nothing to worry about.
But every night, the door to Rachel's room, which was covered with crucifixes, was locked tightly.
It's another ordinary night, and Rachel lies in her bed and falls asleep.
In the black and white dream, she opened her eyes, got up from the bed, opened the door, walked through the living room and hallway, and came to the backyard.
Suddenly, a large colored hole appeared in the sky, and a locomotive with a strange sheep's head logo burst out of it and landed in her backyard.
Rachel instinctively stretched out her arms in front of her, but nothing happened.
Her backyard was intact, but the fallen locomotive was leaking electricity everywhere, emitting black smoke, as if it had been hit by something.
Bang!
The locomotive's hood was violently opened, and a handsome and sunny boy with a bell around his neck climbed out of the locomotive, his hands and feet spread out, and fell to the ground in a large shape.
"Who is this? How did he crawl out of the fire? And how did this locomotive fall from the sky? ”
Rachel's mind was instantly filled with questions, and she stood on tiptoe and crept forward, trying to see the boy's appearance.
"What are you looking at?"
The boy lying on the ground suddenly opened his eyes and looked directly at Rachel, his brown and blue eyes as crystal-like as sharp swords.
Rachel was taken aback.
She subconsciously backed away, but tripped over something, and woke up screaming from her bed after a whirlwind.
"Another weird dream!"
Rachel reached out to wipe the sweat from her forehead.
Since she was conscious, she has often entered such dreams that seem to be reality, as if she is experiencing the life of others.
But the dreams of the past are like some kind of virtual reality, and all the characters in it will act according to a fixed trajectory.
But this time, someone took the initiative to speak?
"I must be crazy!"
Thinking about her dream, Rachel opened the door that should have been locked, walked to the kitchen, opened the refrigerator, and tried to pour herself a glass of water.
But she was standing in the hallway, and suddenly she heard a voice coming from the backyard, and her originally relaxed heart suddenly lifted.
"There are thieves!"
Rachel looked around, grabbed a baseball bat, and cautiously walked towards the backyard.
She walked to the back door of the room, lifted the corner of the curtain, and quietly looked out, her mouth wide open in surprise.
It wasn't the thief, it was the boy she had seen in her dreams, and there was a gray wolf lying beside him, and a strange red animal lying on his chest.
"What a strange thunderbolt it is!"
The gray wolf learned from Ian lying on the ground, his round belly bulging, his long tongue sticking out of his mouth, and he looked petrified.
Ian was too lazy to move, so he lay on the ground and replied with his eyes closed, "I guess it was because of the speed of our efforts to interfere with Barry's wonderful adventure, so he struck a bolt of lightning at us." ”
The lightning bolt of the Speed Force destroyed all of the Thunder's systems, and they could only drift with the temporal storm, not knowing where they fell.
"We should now determine when and where we fell." The gray wolf said this, but he didn't move.
Ian was so shocked by the speed of the god that his body was still numb, and he didn't want to get up, so he replied lazily: "When I first climbed out of the Thunder, I felt that someone was watching me. Now someone in that house is watching us, and soon he or he will come out. ”
The gray wolf nodded, and continued to stick out his tongue and lay down.
"I finally know why lazy sheep and sheep either sleep or eat all day long."
He complained: "This feeling of not having to worry about anything is so cool! ”
"Uh-huh!"
Ian expressed his attitude with a single modal word.
Rachel hid behind the door, listened to the sounds coming from outside, knew she had been discovered, and took several deep breaths.
"Rachel, be brave, you can do it."
She clenched her bat again, whispered to herself to cheer herself on, and opened the door into the backyard.
"Who are you?"
Rachel approached the stranger who had broken into her home, but leaned back, and the bat in her hand seemed to suddenly turn into a big rock, and she couldn't swing it at all.
"Don't worry, we're not bad guys."
Ian sat up, bones creaking all over his body, and he turned to look at the girl who was trembling, and opened his hands to show that he had no ill intentions.
"My name is Ian, and I just landed at your house by accident.
If you don't mind, can you tell me what this place is and how long has it been since The Flash debuted? ”
Rachel, who didn't know the sinister nature of the world, put down the bat in her hand and was no longer so nervous.
She leaned a little closer and whispered, "This is a suburb of Detroit, and the Flash has been around for a year." ”
Ian breathed a sigh of relief, "It's a good thing that goddamn speed didn't throw me at any weird time. ”
Rachel was melted into the doubts in her heart by the sunny temperament emanating from Ian, took a few steps closer, and asked cautiously, "Mr. Ian, how did you fall from the sky on a locomotive?" ”
"We are members of the Star Laboratory, and this locomotive is a newly built flying machine."
Ian opened his mouth and made up a lie, and his face was not red.
Although it was not his intention to deceive people, he could never tell the things about the Flashpoint World.
The girl will only think that he is a madman.
"I'm hungry, do you have anything to eat at home? I know this request is somewhat offensive, but I can pay for it. ”
Rachel was silent for a moment in response to Ian's request, but nodded anyway.
"Come in with me! Well, your pet can come in too, as long as you don't wake my mom. ”
Ian doesn't look like a bad person, and while his pet is a little weird, it's not like a bad thing.
"I really misjudged you that you were interested in a little girl."
Big Big Wolf walked up to Ian and teased him.
Ian tugged at his wolf ears and whispered, "Don't take me like a pervert. I made excuses to stay because of something else. ”
He turned on the system light screen.
[You've come into contact with a new character, Rachel Ross!] 】
When he saw the name, Ian thought of Sannomiya, although he wasn't sure when the ghost father would do something to his daughter.
But Ian doesn't have a soft spot for this demon!
It wouldn't be bad if you did something in advance and disgusted this ghost father.
He followed Rachel to the kitchen and expertly cooked a late-night snack for everyone, the wolves and the elves.
"You're doing a great job!"
Rachel took a bite of the sandwich and gave Ian a thumbs up.
No matter how many strange things Rachel has experienced since childhood, she is still a little girl, and she quickly forgets about dreams and other things, and asks Ian about Xiaomi and Big Big Wolf.
The two of them had a good conversation, but the pleasure soon woke up Rachel's mom upstairs.
And the way the lady copes with strangers who break into her house at night is also very American, and she aims her shotgun at Ian.
"Who are you?"
Rachel stood up, panicking to explain what had happened.
But the power to Rachel's house suddenly went out.
"Again?" Ian heard someone approaching outside the door, he waved his hand, and said helplessly, "Can't you let me rest for even a day?" ”
