Chapter 33: A Failed Conversation (Part II)

Harry stared apprehensively at the thoughtful Amosta, his hand resting on his knee clutching his robe, the courage he had built up in his heart vanished the moment he asked the question.

What would Mr. Bryan say?

Deep down, Harry thought that Mr. Inquisitor, who felt very unusual to contact, would not be so close to the rumors in the school, but if he couldn't withstand the pressure of the school board and urgently needed to hand over a murderer...

"If you're asking me for my personal opinion, Potter--"

Amosta began to speak, and the knuckles of Harry's clenched fists turned white.

"Personally, I don't think you're the one who opened the chamber, Mr. Potter."

Harry's eyes widened suddenly, and his heart beat as easily and happily as if he had first ridden a broomstick through the thin and cold clouds, and even the slightly dimly lit office suddenly brightened and opened.

"But why, sir?"

However, Harry still subconsciously asked, "My parseltongue... Because of this one, they... I mean, people know that Slytherin himself is the most famous parseltongue. ”

Amosta laughed, his stealthy glance at Harry's scar, a relaxed expression on his face,

"What does the Parseltongue represent, Mr. Potter, in the thousand years since Salazar Slytherin's time, there have been at least dozens of Parseltongues that have existed and been clearly documented in the wizarding world, and I can't assume that you have an unclear relationship with the great founder of Slytherin House because of that--"

Looking at Harry, whose expression was bright, Amosta quipped playfully,

"There are many other facts that I can't ignore, for example, I can't figure out why Salazar Slytherin had to pick an heir for himself.

For example, how could Harry Potter, who defeated the worst dark wizard of all time at the age of one and saved the people of the British wizarding world from the shadow of despair, fear and death, and was regarded as a protégé by Albus Dumbledore, the greatest and wisest wizard of our time, attack his classmates at school? ”

Harry grinned, and he realized that he was starting to like this Mr. Amosta Blaine.

Since entering the wizarding world, many people have made a fuss about his defeat of Voldemort, some admire him, others think he is just a grandiose little wizard, some hate him, some are indifferent. But regardless of the attitude, Harry felt a heavy pressure when he brought it up.

The only exception is Mr. Blaine, who can be heard in his tone with no malice or reverence, as if he were simply discussing a funny little curse.

Truth be told, Harry had never imagined that he would one day be able to have such a pleasant conversation with a wizard from Slytherin House before he met Mr. Blaine.

"--If you're worried about that announcement I posted, Mr. Potter, you don't have to."

Amosta got up and went to the fireplace to refill himself with a cup of strong tea, and when he saw that the tea in Harry's teapot hadn't moved at all, he didn't make any more sense of emotion, and it was already dark outside the window, and now, only the lights of Hagrid's hut were left on the other side of the Forbidden Forest.

"All along, I didn't think about getting any useful information out of people's reports."

Amosta leaned against the fireplace, and Harry had to turn to see him, and before he could ask, Mr. Bryan explained himself.

"To be honest, I thought that as soon as the news of my entry into the Hogwarts Investigation Chamber as an Inquisitor spread, the people who were acting in the shadows would inevitably react in some way, because since it is unlikely that someone who dares to stir up trouble under Dumbledore's nose will put up with an obscure Inquisitor sent by the School Board, you know what I mean, Mr. Potter?"

Harry thought for a moment with a frown, then nodded with a furrowed brow.

Mr. Blaine presumably meant that if the Slytherin heir did not respond in some way to the presence of the Inquisitor, it would be highly likely that he would be perceived as intimidated by the name of the Inquisitor, and that it was unlikely that he would endure such an 'insult' as someone dared to launch two more attacks against the Minor Wizard while Headmaster Dumbledore was on his guard.

Amosta blinked in satisfaction and continued,

"I think he might be impatient to act again, and I'll get caught..."

Staying in the office all day, not even doing patrols, and how to catch other people's horses, Harry secretly rolled his eyes.

"Ideally, the attacker would come to me to prove his abilities, and in that case, I could kill him and take the money..., ahem, I mean, put an end to the horrors."

Amosta showed a slight annoyance,

"But I didn't expect him to be much more cautious than I thought, I've been monitoring the castle for a week and I haven't noticed anything wrong, which makes me feel a little anxious, so I have to do something to stimulate the patient lurker..."

Harry understood that Mr. Blaine's posting was a temptation, and he hoped that the heir would see it as a provocation and continue his great career as the heir of Slytherin.

Knowing this, Harry felt incredibly relieved!

Since Mr. Blaine believes that he is innocent, the rumors in the school should be at least half as lethal to him, because his greatest concern is that Mr. Blaine will listen to rumors.

"Since that's the case,"

Harry stood up excitedly, "Mr. Brian, if you don't think I did all this, can you help... I mean, maybe you can make another announcement to let you know..."

"Shows you're innocent?" Amosta smiled, "That's what you're here for, Mr. Potter?" Hehe, I thought you were the same as Filch, who are you here to report. ”

Harry was greatly embarrassed, he expected that his request would not be granted, but he still stubbornly continued,

"As you already know, because of the Parseltongue, the little wizards decided that I attacked Colin and Finliery... And Mrs. Loris, wherever you go, everyone uses that... Anyway...."

Harry couldn't go on, for he had seen Mr. Bryan smiling and shaking his head.

"I understand your dire situation, Mr. Potter, but I can't grant your request."

Amosta's tone was calm, and he didn't open his eyes because the person standing in front of him was the protagonist, or because he was related to the mysterious memory he left behind that had not yet been processed.

"Just as I wouldn't assume that you were an attacker because of rumors, I have no way to tell everyone that you must be not suspicious without confirming undoubted evidence, which is irresponsible, Mr. Potter, and I hope you can understand me."

There was an indescribable pressure in Amosta's deep gaze, which made it impossible for Harry to continue making his request, and then, Mr. Blaine's words made Harry nervous again,

"And, there are some things that you really need to give everyone a reasonable explanation, such as... On Halloween night last year, I mean, the reason why you, Mr. Weasley, and Miss Granger were in the hallway on the third floor after Nick's death party was really puzzling--"
