Chapter 37: Suspicion

Time always flies by silently, and in a blink of an eye, the first month of the second half of the semester has come to an end.

No thrilling topic can outweigh the trivialities of everyday life, and Amosta, who entered Hogwarts as a special investigator of the school board, did make waves at first.

However, due to his low presence and the fact that two months had passed since the last attack, the topic of him was quickly abandoned, and some people had forgotten that there was a Slytherin-born Inquisitor at the school.

Of course, there are also those who believe that the reason why the attacks did not continue was that the hidden investigators played a key role as a deterrent.

For Harry, it was the best situation.

People gradually stopped looking at him suspiciously, and even Malfoy, who had been arranging for Crabbe, Goyle, Daphne, Pansy, and others to take turns reporting Harry to Amosta's office since the second week of school, seemed to realize that his behavior was boring and began to silence.

One more thing that was good was that Hermione had finally gotten rid of her embarrassing black hair, and Madam Pomfrey told them that she was going to get Hermione officially discharged from the hospital over the weekend.

Fred and George have not been having much fun lately, and since they learned of Mr. Blaine's methods of monitoring the Academy, they have not dared to wander around the castle at night, because although Mr. Bryan seems to be a good talker, it does not mean that he can endure repeated provocations.

At eight o'clock on Thursday night, Amosta was in his office, watching Harry and Ron return to the Gryffindor common room and disappear into the wall.

Now, nearly three weeks after the announcement he posted, even Amosta himself had to admit that the first-hand temptation had almost officially failed.

What's next?

Is it to spread the false news that the little wizard who was attacked has regained his senses, or is it to keep waiting?

Amosta stared at the photo of him and Grandma Felena on the table, and hesitated for a moment.

The glass reflected a blurry but still discernible young face that was much more emaciated than before, and Amosta had to admit that he had underestimated the rigor of the task and underestimated the patience of his opponent.

Amosta's gaze shifted to the open letter from the open letter that had been written on the table above the notebook full of intricate spell model deductions, the letter had been sent this afternoon, and the letter was written by Kakus Foley.

Dear Mr. Blaine,

I'm sorry to bother you on your way to complete your commission, Mr. Bryan, but there's one thing I think you need to know.

Recently, an unknown force has suddenly appeared in the underground world, they are asking around about the whereabouts of the 'Golden Viper' and its true identity, out of curiosity and vigilance, I investigated a little, and found that their leader is the commissioner of the previous mission to explore the magic relics, at present, I have not yet found out the purpose of their search for the 'Golden Viper'.

Also, as far as I know, Lucius Malfoy has been active lately and seems to be plotting to expel Albus Dumbledore from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

You are faithful

Marcus Foley

Amostamo clenched his fingers, his expression condensed, his deep gaze constantly wandering back and forth over the brief words on the letterhead.

There's a group of people investigating 'Golden Viper? That's a lot of fun!

Who could it be, Amosta thought quietly, he had been active in the underground world under the name 'Golden Viper' for more than three years, and to be honest, for various reasons, there were not a few people who had offended.

But if there is a life and death grudge against himself, it is nothing more than the group of big wolf dogs who rely on their rough skin and unscrupulous hair.

But since even Kakus hasn't been able to figure out their identities, it's safe to assume that the people investigating the Golden Viper won't be the annoying werewolves, as those guys never bother to hide their identities.

There was so little information from Kakus that Amosta couldn't tell who was interested in him, and there was no good way to deal with it other than to remind himself to be vigilant.

As for the second point mentioned by Cascus, about Lucius Malfoy's plot to get rid of Dumbledore, Amosta didn't care too much, and it was unlikely that anyone with a brain would believe that Malfoy could do such a thing, and the reason why Caskus mentioned this in his letter was nothing more than a vague reminder.

Because Malfoy and the Greengrass family were adamantly opposed to the previous dispatch of the Inquisitor, if Lucius Malfoy did succeed in expelling Dumbledore from Hogwarts for a short time, then it would mean that he would be driven away immediately, and in this case, the mission to find the 'Slytherin Secret Chamber' would be a complete failure.

With a soft sigh, Amosta got up and went to the bookshelf and pulled out a copy of the Daily Prophet from the owl on Monday morning.

Most of the news on the newspaper's pages was full of singing and dancing, except for one that was an interesting one, from Rita Skeeter, about the Muggle Protection Act, which had been enacted last summer and had been in effect for more than half a year.

However, Amosta did not take out the newspaper to recall the amusing remarks of the journalist known for his vitriol, meanness and nonsense, and he flipped to the seventh page of the paper, staring at the announcement in the lower right corner, which occupied only a small space.

“... At present, upon the recommendation of the director of St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Injuries and Injuries, and with the approval of the hospital's Board of Directors, it is confirmed that Adelee Foley has been appointed as the director of the Department of Strange Germs and Infections of the hospital, and it is reported that Ms. Foley entered the St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Injuries and Injuries in September 1975 as a therapist, and as of the date of this report, she has been working in the department for nearly 18 years..."

Is that why Kakus Foley is desperate to get the task of finding the Slytherin Treasure...

Amosta's gaze deepened, at first, he thought that the person who issued the commission was nothing more than a genre wizard or a dark wizard in the underworld who coveted the Slytherin treasure, but now it seemed that things were not so simple.

Who would have issued this commission?

Amosta crossed his mind with the names of the most powerful officials of the Ministry of Magic, but he could never confirm the answer.

Tuk Tuk Tuk --

A sudden knock on the door interrupted Amosta's musings, and he glanced at the surveillance to see that it was Professor Snape.

The life of day and night is too hard, so during these days, Snape occasionally comes over to help him when he has free time to give Amosta a good rest, but he usually sends a message to Amosta in advance, and never visits directly like this.

When he returned to school, Professor Snape showed a very clear detachment from him, which seemed strange to Amosta at one point, but after much reflection, he could understand it a little.

Professor Snape may have feared that if one day his old master, the King, returned, he would most likely be in the mire again.

At that time, if his intimate relationship with him is known to too many people, then he will also be dragged into the water, so the real purpose of Professor Snape's deliberate indifference is probably to protect himself.

"Still nothing new?"

Snape, who was always in a hurry, strode into Amosta's office, and he looked at the young man behind his desk, wondering if it was because of the potion and too much poisonous smoke that had caused a subtle change in his face, which was always yellow and stiff.

"Obviously."

Amosta stood up and stretched wide, his tone lazy, "You're here to help with the shift?" ”

"Headmaster Dumbledore wants to see you,"

Snape's lips moved and he sneered, "Perhaps, you should be ready to be fired, Amosta--"
