Chapter 232: Desolation
With a flash of vanity, Amosta was lifted from the state of phantom transformation, not actively, but forced out of the void by something.
"Sure enough—"
Looking at the bronze chain wall in front of him, and behind the chain wall, the turbulence of space like a river, and the five-story small building suspended above it, Amosta smiled contentedly.
The Black family's old house is located in Grimmauld Place, a northwestern suburb of London, away from the Muggle city, in a secluded place, and the old house is protected by a lot of ancient magic and defensive charms you can imagine.
The last time Amosta tried to enter this place, he failed, not because he couldn't do anything about the bronze chain wall that divided the world in front of him, but because he didn't know the coordinates of the mansion in space, even if he broke these defensive spells, he would get lost in the spatial turbulence, but now, there happened to be a guy in the house that he had marked with magic to act as 'coordinates'.
--Previously, at the Screaming Shack, Amosta actually had a different motive for letting Blake out of the house.
Because, since the last time he forced his way into this place to no avail, Amosta suddenly realized that this house was a good match for his ideal place to live...
.............
Bang!
A heavy thud shattered the silence in the darkness, and the mansion, which had been unfooted for twelve years, finally welcomed back the only surviving descendant of the Black family.
Sirius fell to the ground, groaning weakly, and though he had narrowly escaped the last powerful magic of the young wizard named Amosta Bryan, he was not unscathed, as the explosion sent a powerful wave through his upper body, easily breaking several of his ribs, and the broken bones had pierced the skin in the worst places, and trickled down the blood like a stream.
However, Sirius did not focus on his injury, but instead looked at the old house in front of him with a complicated expression.
The air was filled with a damp, dusty smell and a lingering sweet smell of rot, as if by hearing the movement of people, a row of old-fashioned gas lamps on the walls of the corridor connecting the doorway were all lit, casting a flickering and unreal light that illuminated the peeling wallpaper and polished carpet of the long, eerie corridor walls.
A spiderweb-like chandelier flickered overhead, and on the walls hung crooked portraits blackened by age and lack of protection.
Sirius took a deep breath, and the moment he saw the familiar furnishings, the unpleasant memories in his memory came flooding back, he had sworn never to return here, but now he had to break his vow himself in order to save his life.
The memories of the years he had lived here had haunted Sirius's mind like maggots on his tarsal bones, making his already gloomy look even more gloomy, but he knew that he couldn't spend too much time drowning in the bad memories of the past, or he would waste the chance he had won so hard to survive from Amosta Bryan.
The excessive blood loss made Sirius's face pale, and the pain of the broken bones hit his consciousness like the tide of the sea under the bright moon, and maybe the next moment, he would fall into a coma.
Desperately clenching his yellow teeth, Sirius crawled against the wall, leaving a shocking dark mark on the dusty wooden floor.
"Hey, that's a pretty easy shot--"
Lifting the tattered prison clothes, and then the yellow glow of the gas lamp, Sirius took a cool breath, finally seeing how serious his injuries were.
Sirius raised his hand with difficulty, and the swirling wand spewed out wisps of white light, and in the cool light, the broken ribs retracted into the ribcage, and the wound glued together on its own, leaving a hideous scar.
After roughly dealing with his wounds, Sirius sighed and struggled to his feet as he looked at the dilapidated mansion in front of him, bracing his arms against the wall.
His cheeks were more sallow than before because of the excessive bleeding, and the whole person seemed to have more breath than a dry corpse, and holding back the fainting sensation that shocked his consciousness and the uncomfortable feeling that the old house had brought him, Sirius staggered inside against the wall.
Now that he has returned, there is no need to leave in a hurry, he needs to find himself some food to replenish his strength, and by the way, think carefully about how to carry out his plan.
The Director of Student Safety at Hogwarts had found himself and found out to be an illegal Animagus, so it would be foolish to try to infiltrate Hogwarts in the same way as before, and it would be much more difficult to avenge Jaime and Lily, and the only thing Sirius could think of in a short period of time was to look for an opportunity to do so while the boy was returning home with his pet mouse for the summer vacation.
And this meant that he would have to wait another six or seven months to achieve his goal, which was an extremely painful ordeal for Sirius, who had been dreaming of revenge.
Thinking about it, Sirius sighed faintly and was extremely sad.
How exactly did Amosta Bryne end up at the Screaming Shack tonight?
There are two possibilities, the first is that the wizard finally remembered that Hogsmeade still had his secret experimental base, and he had a flash of inspiration and wanted to come back and have a look.
Sirius, however, didn't think that was a high possibility, as the terrible young wizard hadn't been back for over two months, and most likely didn't want to use it anymore.
And the reason for his sigh is precisely the second possibility - Amosta Blaine came through the secret passage under the beating willow.
At Hogwarts now, there is only one person who knows that he still has the ability to pass through that secret passage, and that is his best friend, Remus Lupin.
For some time since he went to Hogwarts on the night of the Halloween dinner, Sirius had been worried, knowing that Remus was currently teaching at the school, and he was afraid that Remus would tell Dumbledore about the past and report himself as an illegal Animagus, thus closing the secret passage under the beating.
But in the days that followed, Sirius, who kept an eye on Hogwarts through Crook Hill, was relieved.
Dumbledore didn't seal off the secret passages, which meant that Remus probably didn't say anything to Dumbledore.
The reason for Remus's reaction, Sirius, his former best friend, could guess to himself.
But now that Amosta Bryan had reached the Screaming Shack through a secret passage and called out his name while he was still in a shapeshifting state, Sirius had reason to believe that Remus had told the young man everything.
"Are you determined to kill me, Remus?"
The already numb heart beating in the chest uncontrollably welled up with sadness, and a touch of pathos appeared on the skeleton-like cheeks.
"It's all retribution--"
Sirius laughed and whispered, his physical and mental strength on the verge of the limit, and his feet suddenly went limp, and his body collapsed involuntarily, hitting his head on the troll-legged umbrella stand at the end of the hallway leading to the basement kitchen.
Crash---
Two velvet curtains covered with insect eyes were pulled apart, and the portrait behind the curtains, the ugly old lady in a black hat suddenly opened her eyes, she looked at Sirius, who was lying on the ground and gasping hard, took a deep breath, and the next second, a terrible, deafening, and creepy scream instantly woke up the mansion that had been sleeping for many years,
"You rebel !!"
