Chapter 259: Theft
After lunch, the professors said goodbye to each other, and for the rest of the holidays, none of them were prepared to stay in the school forever.
The young wizards were scattered, and Harry, Ron, and Hermione stood in the foyer, discussing how to spend the free time in the afternoon, and on Christmas Day, even Hermione, who loved to learn, would not spend her time studying in the empty library or common room.
Harry undoubtedly wanted to ride his firebolt around the playground, but he knew he had better not touch Hermione's sensitive nerves now, and Ron's suggestion to go to Hagrid's was also rejected.
They had promised to help Buckbeak win the lawsuit, but so far, they had read a lot of relevant case files, but there were few cases that could really help, and Harry didn't want Hagrid to ask about it with anticipation, so they could only bow their heads in shame.
In the end, the three of them discussed strolling around the grass to digest the delicious taste in their stomachs more quickly.
The extreme cold for several days turned the layer of snow covering the ground into powder, and a strong wind hit, and all the snow on the surface flew into the sky, and the vast campus was like a sandstorm.
Ha used a scarf to tie his neck tightly, and then, brought up the topic that was inconvenient to go into because it was at the dinner table.
"What do you mean Professor Lupin cares more about that parchment, Hermione?"
"Does that need to be said, Harry?"
Hermione rubbed her hand against her little face, which was red from the cold, and she turned her head to look at the location of Professor Bryan's office.
"You can imagine Professor Lupin's reaction when he learned from Filch that Professor Blaine was looking for your map, Harry, he was more surprised than when he saw you with a firebolt in your hand."
"I thought--"
Ron wondered,
"He's wondering why Professor Bryan is looking for a piece of parchment?"
It certainly wasn't as simple as Ron said it was, and even Harry dared to make that conclusion.
In fact, on the night he stole into Hogsmeade and was caught by Professor Blaine, Professor Lupin's behavior made Harry think that he had something to do with the Living Point map, but Professor Lupin didn't pursue it because of Ron's perfect lie at the time.
Later, Fred and George overheard that Professor Bryan was looking for a map of the living spots, and Harry discussed with Ron and Hermione why Professor Bryan also knew about the existence of the map, and the result of the discussion was that perhaps Professor Lupin was the creator of the map.
This conclusion sounds incredible, as Professor Lupin doesn't seem to have anything to do with school rule violations and pranks.
But if that's the case, then the answer to how Professor Blaine knew about the existence of the Living Spot Map is pretty obvious - Professor Lupin told him.
But what happened today once again overturned the previous conclusion, and Professor Lupin and Professor Blaine did not seem to have exchanged any information about the Living Point Map, and Professor Lupin even thought that Professor Blaine should not have known that it existed at all--- judging by his performance.
It was a puzzling question, and even Hermione couldn't fathom the connection.
Between the two professors, Professor Lupin is undoubtedly more like the maker of the map of the living spots, but if he hadn't told Professor Blaine, then who would it be?
Moonface, Wormtail, Big Feet, and Pointed Fork - if Lupin was one of the four, theoretically speaking, if not Professor Lupin, it could have been revealed to Professor Bryan by the other three Makers, but the other three are obviously not at Hogwarts right now, aren't they, otherwise Lupin would have guessed.
They couldn't have found out the truth of the matter by guessing, and after a while, Harry and the three gave up on further investigation.
The next time, bathed in the pale sun, the three of them had a snowball fight in the snow, in order to add to the fun, they used their wands to crumple the powdered snowflakes into a ball, and then attacked each other with snowballs, the game was harmonious at first, but as Hermione blessed the snowballs with some 'special magic', for example, the 'Imperial Charm' or something, the situation quickly turned upside down. Harry and Ron teamed up against Hermione, but they were still slammed into and scurryed by the powerful ice bumps.
The cries of the two little wizards and Hermione's hearty giggles echoed through the cold wind howling courtyard.
"Anyway,"
More than an hour later, the exhausted three people helped each other back to the castle, they stood in the foyer to deal with the ice and snow on their bodies and boots, Hermione, who was in a much better mood, patted the ice particles in her fluffy hair, and said solemnly,
"I want you to be vigilant, Harry, whether it's a firebolt or a live map, I want you to hand it over, and the professors will help you make sure there's nothing wrong with them."
"Don't, Harry!"
Relying on the relaxed atmosphere, Ron grinned and grimaced at Hermione,
"Maybe the Professors will return the Firebolt to Harry, but do you expect them to return the Live Point Map... The map wasn't dangerous, Fred and George had been using it for years, and they had already checked for Harry--"
"If I hand over the map, Hermione--"
Harry also said with a hippie smile,
"I don't expect Fred and George to be Bludgers for me at Quidditch, they'll probably just draw the ball at me, because that map is their most precious thing!"
The sound of hurried footsteps from the second floor was very conspicuous in the empty castle, and Harry and the three of them could hear it, it was the footsteps of the caretaker Filch, and the three of them shrank their necks as they looked at the muddy water on the smooth marble of the foyer, and hurried down the stairs on the other side.
"Dirty, it's a mess of the castle again, who the hell did it!"
Sure enough, a minute later, Filch, who had changed back to his usual brown jacket, appeared with Mrs. Loris, and he was furious at the sight of the stains on the ground.
"Sniff, honey, we've got to find the little bad guy who did the bad thing!"
The scrawny gray cat jumped off his shoulder the moment he received the order, tilted his head and sniffed for a while, and then swooped to the entrance of the stairs in the basement.
"Aha, it's you!"
Filch had snot bubbles on his fleshy nose, and he glared at Malfoy viciously,
"Messed up the castle on Christmas Day, didn't say anything, come with me, Malfoy!"
"It's not me--"
Malfoy bowed his head and said in a smug voice, "It's Potter, Weasley, and Granger, you can see their footprints entering the castle through the door, Filch." ”
Filch looked skeptical, and Malfoy added,
"They've just returned to the break room, and if you rush over now, maybe they haven't had time to deal with the marks on their boots."
"Alright, Mr. Malfoy, come with me!"
Hearing Malfoy say this, Filch no longer had any doubts, he dragged Malfoy's sleeve all the way up the Gryffindor Tower, the portrait of the fat lady opened, and just when Harry, who was sitting in front of the fireplace and playing wizarding chess, shocked Filch and Malfoy's appearance, a mouse came out from under Malfoy's trouser leg, quickly jumped into the bottom of the ubiquitous sofa, and quietly climbed up the stairs of the boys' dormitory under cover...
