Chapter 498: Hogwarts Colleagues
Squeak –
The shrill sound of the doorway turning resounded through the mountains and black waters, and at the end of the road, Hogwarts stood silently on the high ground on the shore of the cliff, allowing the light rain to wash away its vicissitudes of life. The air was filled with the coolness of late summer and early autumn, and Amosta walked along the wet cobblestone road through the campus, his eyes wandering around to check the school he hadn't seen in two months.
"Hey! Professor Blaine, you're back! ”
A tall, exaggerated figure stepped out of the house on the edge of the Forbidden Forest, washed by rainwater slurry and looked at Amosta, who was standing in the middle of the courtyard, looking at the tall ring of the Quidditch pitch, waving his hand happily.
Amosta looked back at the sound and smiled on her lips, "How are you, Hagrid, how was the summer vacation?" ”
"Wonderful, very fulfilling!"
Hagrid trotted all the way over the uneven lawn due to lack of care to Amosta, shielding him from the wind and rain that drifted from the Black Lake.
"I've spent a whole summer making a fun little creature, and I can't wait for the little ones to meet it, oh, are you going to check it out, Professor Blaine, Dumbledore raves about those cute little creatures!"
Hagrid's rugged floor was filled with anticipation, and his eyes sparkled like black beetles were filled with excitement.
"I'd love to meet your new friend, Hagrid--"
The corners of Amosta's mouth twitched, and he walked towards the castle as if fleeing.
"But not now, I've traveled a long way today, and I'm more hopeful to fill my stomach with some delicious food now."
"Ah, I'm getting ready to eat at the auditorium, too--"
Hagrid said a little lost, but then, his emotions were high-pitched again,
"I read about the Quidditch finals in the Daily Prophet, Professor Blaine, it's amazing, when I went to Hogsmeade, the villagers were talking about it, and everyone was saying, if you hadn't saved that person from that black witch, the Ministry of Magic would have collapsed this time!"
In Hagrid's eyes, the importance of Amosta quelling a turmoil was second only to the new hybrid creatures he had concocted.
"I just drove those dark wizards out of the Quidditch arena, and it was the Ministry of Magic that found these daredevils and captured them back in Azkaban—"
Amosta smiled humbly, and stepped up the marble staircase in two steps into the cavernous depths of the foyer.
In the absence of the little wizard, the Great Hall was not as imposing as usual, the magic on the ceiling reflecting the night sky outside had not been invoked, and there were no a thousand bright candles floating in mid-air, but the floor and the long table against the wall were spotlessly cleaned, as if they had been cleaned for the new school year.
Amosta, who had slid to avoid slipping, walked into the Great Hall with a cautious step, and when he saw his colleagues at Hogwarts surrounded by a sixteen-seater table in the spacious center of the Great Hall, he raised his eyebrows slightly and smiled,
"Why didn't anyone tell me there was going to be a big dinner tonight?"
The table was filled with most of the Hogwarts staff, Headmaster Dumbledore, Professor McGonagall in Transfiguration, Professor Flitwick in Charms, Professor Sprout in Herbology, Professor Snape, the old Head of Amosta, Sinista in Astronomy, Trelawney in Divination, and Victor and Bubji and Barbling.
Mrs. Pince, who ran the library, and Madam Pomfrey, who ran the school's hospital, were here, and even Filch was dressed in a proper manner.
"Maybe someone notified, but you left it behind, Amosta--" Dumbledore, who was sitting facing the entrance to the Great Hall, pulled a wisp of his beard out of a bowl of mushroom soup and said with a smile.
Most of them smiled kindly, and that was exactly what Amosta wanted to see.
Of course, there are exceptions, for example, a middle-aged man with greasy hair and a guttery nose who teaches Potions class has squinted eyes and sarcastic corners of his mouth.
"Maybe you forgot to pay, Headmaster Dumbledore, you can't just write a letter to have a meal with the most powerful wizard of our time."
"Oh, shut up—"
Amosta said happily,
"Fourteen years in a row that have failed to apply for a Defence Against the Dark Arts professorship are not qualified to point fingers at me-"
This time, the laughter that erupted at the dinner table was much more cheerful.
There were still three seats left at the table, but, for Hagrid's size, he had at least one person on the side, and everyone including Dumbledore moved their chairs to accommodate the two new arrivals, and Amosta put down his suitcase, took off his robe and hung it on the back of his chair, and sat between Professor Snape and Headmaster Dumbledore.
A delicate and large candlestick in the center of the table was emitting a soft candlelight, and the table made up of two tables was filled with a variety of sumptuous and delicious foods, and at Dumbledore's invitation, Amosta poured a little yellow mead.
When the mellow wine rolled into his throat, and the exhaustion accumulated over the past two months seemed to be dissipated in an instant, Amosta let out a long sigh of relief and asked in a brisk tone,
"What did I miss?"
"We were just discussing the Fire Charm you used on the night of the Quidditch World Cup final, Amosta!" Professor Flitwick seemed eager to bring the topic to the table, and he stood on the bench and shouted in a sinister voice.
"You've mispronounced the name of that magic, Filius, it's the Spiritual Fire Charm—" Severus still sneered faintly at the corners of his mouth, "using the Fire Charm will lead to imprisonment in Azkaban, and the clever have long taken this vulnerability into account." ”
What's the matter, is the old Potter mansion in Godric's Valley encircled by the Ministry of Magic and not allowed to let people in?
Amosta glared at Snape in disgust.
"That magic is very different from when you used it in the Forbidden Forest so many years ago, Amosta--"
Maybe it was the two months of summer vacation that finally got a little time to recuperate, and Professor McGonagall looked pretty good, and even her shriveled cheeks were a little fuller, and she said with great interest,
"I didn't have time to watch the game, but the Daily Prophet published a lot of photos of your magic, and the academic community has done a detailed analysis of those photos, and the editorial team of Transfiguration Today and I discussed it through letters, and we both believe that there is a shadow of Transfiguration in this magic, and only fine magical control can restrain the fire. Oh, I'm sorry, Amosta, it's the powerful fire magic of the Spirit Fire that forms such a stable stance, and it is wonderfully bisexual, showing a gentle side to the self while hurting enemies in the heat! ”
These Hogwarts faculty members are all leaders in the wizarding academic world, and they are all top students when they are in school, and no one is not interested in powerful magic, including Dumbledore.
"Wonderfully magical, Amosta--"
Dumbledore also said with interest,
"I've seen wizards who take the damage of fire to the extreme, but you have chosen a completely different path in the creation of this magic, you value its stability and manipulation more, which requires a very bold innovation in the theoretical configuration of this magic, and most importantly, it requires very strong mental power-"
It seemed to be a kind of contest, and in order to show his knowledge, everyone except Filch had some opinion about Amosta's magic, and even Hagrid muffled and said, 'Looks much more powerful than the dragon's flames!' ’
Listening to a group of colleagues chattering about their magic, Amosta always felt a little weird, and he interrupted the conversation,
"Why not talk about the Triwizard Tournament, which is the biggest challenge we face right now."
"Oh, Amosta!"
Madam Pomfrey burped and said drunkenly,
"You've been in the school hospital for two consecutive school years, and you've sent dozens of little wizards to the school hospital together, I just want to ask you not to be in this situation this year, I don't want to lose face in front of foreigners!"
