Chapter 543: Restless Malfoy
Wiltshire, Malfoy Manor.
The red golden sunlight sprinkled comfortably in the center of the manor, and a villa with precious marble tiles stained with swirls as the wall tiles covered this classic and dignified villa building with a beautiful golden veil. A flock of white peacocks stroll leisurely across the turquoise lawn, while an elegantly shaped fountain sprays a rainbow into the sky.
Aside from the gardener who tended the garden, there weren't many people to be seen in the huge manor, but since the last time Greyback came uninvited, the security at Malfoy Manor had been many times tighter.
Not only is there a lot of magic in the space inside the manor to defend against external enemies, but there are also wizards guarding the courtyard in the shadows that are not easy to detect, and if someone breaks into the courtyard without permission, he will be greeted by a storm.
The waiters in the villa are in a hurry, preparing a sumptuous dinner for the owner of the manor and the guests who are about to visit. In decent pure-blood families, this work is mostly done by house-elves, and the Malfoys used to do the same, but since the original house-elf of the manor did something out of the house, the owner of the manor has never allowed such a lowly, inferior creature to step into the house.
In the luxurious villa, the atmosphere was a little tense.
This was mainly due to the sudden return of the owners of the manor - the Malfoy family had a huge estate and operations in various European countries and even other continents, and in order to maintain this jaw-dropping family business, the owners of the manor, the Malfoys, did not live at home for most of the year, except that they needed to entertain some important guests in the estate.
That was the case today, but to the surprise of the waiters, Mrs. Malfoy told them that there was only one guest for tonight.
"If there's any rudeness at the dinner party to come, then the person who causes the accident will become the flower manure of the garden--"
Narcissa Malfoy, the mistress of the manor, gave a warning look to the silent servants after a cold sentence in the banquet hall, turned around, and walked briskly away, making her way through the labyrinth of corridors, past the antechamber and the drawing room, to the study.
This study belongs to Lucius Malfoy, the head of the Malfoy family, and Narcissa is the only one who has the right to enter the study on his own initiative, and even the young master of the Malfoy family will be severely criticized and punished for trespassing here without being summoned.
Lucius Malfoy sat quietly in the chair behind his desk, one hand resting on his cane and the other resting on the table, his calm gaze resting on a piece of parchment just a few feet away from his fingertips.
Lucius's face was expressionless, but as the person who knew Lucius Malfoy best, Narcissa could see through her husband's uneasiness at a glance, and she followed Lucius's gaze to the letter spread out on the table, and then, as if she had been burned, she looked away.
"I've already commanded, my dear, there will be no problems."
The sculptural Lucius awoke from his stiffness, and he snorted in reply to his wife, but his gaze still did not take his eyes off the letter.
In front of her husband, Narcissa was not the tall chin she was used to in front of people, and then closed the door to the study, and Narcissa walked around the desk to Lucius, and pressed her pale slender fingers on his shoulder. As if realizing that his uneasiness had infected his wife, Lucius finally looked away, withdrew the hand that was on the table, and patted Narcissa's palm gently.
The attendants of the manor could not have imagined that it was only a letter of home visit that upset the noble and dignified family husbands and wives.
Time seemed to stand still in the study, and neither of the Malfoys spoke, but only looked at each other in relief.
After a long time, Lucius removed his hand from his wife's hand, and he slowly opened the drawer, and under Narcissa's bewildered gaze, took out a silver spoon from the drawer, and at the end of the spoon was engraved a lifelike peacock, which Narcissa recognized at a glance, it was something from the kitchen at home, and she was puzzled as to why her husband had hidden a spoon in the drawer.
"When you're eating, you keep this spoon close to you, and if something happens, hold it right away."
Lucius's face turned slightly pale, and he squirmed his dry lips to Narcissa.
"Is this a portkey?"
Narcissa's narrow eyebrows tightened,
"Do you think—"
"Just in case, Narcissa."
Lucius interrupted his wife's words and shoved the spoon firmly into Narcissa's palm.
The Malfoys had already discussed the purpose of Amosta Blaine's visit on the way back, and they certainly wouldn't have thought that Blaine's visit was really for Draco's Hogwarts studies, but neither of them had a clue as to his true purpose.
The biggest possibility is that they still made a small move at the Quidditch World Cup, although on that night, Brian had already said that he would forgive the Malfoy family, but whether Brian would change his mind, no one can say.
To this day, Lucius Malfoy has not figured out where Amosta Bryan got the news that he did it. He had suspected Kakus Foley and the wizards who had received the bounty from the place of recruitment, but there were no problems with the employment contract that had been signed, which meant that no one who knew the inside story was likely to be a leaker.
It wasn't just this thing that struck Lucius Malfoy.
Although the Ministry of Magic claimed that the witches and masked wizards of Professor Amosta Bryan were in league with the masked wizards, the Malfoys knew that this was a lie, that the woman was not hired by them at all, and that to their greatest horror, Amosta Bryan defeated Vitia Cleona and defeated the unseen dark wizard again.
When the Dark Wizard was crushed by Bryan, the Malfoys, who were watching the battle in the crowd, clearly felt the change in the Dark Magic's mark.
Lucius and Narcissa did not discuss what this change meant, but they knew very well in their hearts.
Everyone knows that the Dark Lord is not completely finished, however, it is a recognized thing that his mana has been destroyed by Harry Potter, and almost everyone believes that the Dark Lord is history, except for Dumbledore
Malfoy had always expressed disdain for Dumbledore's arguments until he and Brian first met at the Leaky Cauldron, when the deep fear hidden in his heart was aroused, and for more than a year, Lucius Malfoy tried to convince himself that his fears were unjustified, just unfounded, but on the night of the Quidditch final, the inexplicable Dark Wizard who appeared in front of everyone made his self-consolation a joke.
As a young man, Malfoy had been a loyal Death Eater, as he and his wife were, and they were willing to follow the Dark Lord to subvert the now-disgraced wizarding world for an illusory, unattainable dream, but no longer so, he had his family and Draco's future on his shoulders.
What seemed to be a dead end in front of him was in front of him.
If, as Amosta Bryan said, he had damaged a treasure that was vital to the Dark Lord, then it would be impossible for the Malfoys to be forgiven when the Dark Lord returned to the wizarding world and gathered the old Ministry, and the Dark Lord had never been a pot-bellied man, and Malfoy knew that very well.
On the other hand, he and Dumbledore are mortal enemies, and Bryan is also very cold to the Malfoy family, if it weren't for Amosta Bryan's still a little affection for Draco, then, at this stormy moment, Lucius knows that he really needs to arrange a way back.
"There's no way Bryan could do anything to the Malfoys, my dear, neither Fudge nor Dumbledore would agree to him doing this-"
Narcissa didn't think so deeply, she was always worried about the Quidditch cup, and Narcissa comforted her husband.
Tuk Tuk Tuk --
The door to the study rang just in time, and the servant reported to the Malfoys that Mr. Amosta Blaine had suddenly appeared outside the gate of the manor, whether he wanted to welcome him in.
"I'm going to meet myself--"
Lucius bounced up from his chair and said subconsciously.
"I'll go with you, dear."
Narcissa took her husband's palm,
"Whatever happens, let's go together."
