Chapter 575: Professor McGonagall's Concern
With the settlement of the Warriors, the much-anticipated Triwizard Championship finally kicked off. Under normal circumstances, there should be a jubilant atmosphere up and down the castle, but what just happened made everything unpredictable.
Hermione, with Professor McGonagall by her side, walked up the stairs, and she could feel the portraits on the walls pointing at her wherever she passed, and of course, the things they were talking about were not vicious, they simply took it as a very noteworthy thing, a good excuse to get together for a party.
The closer she got to Gryffindor's tower, the harder Hermione's steps became.
At this moment, she realized one thing, she had thought that in the room at the back of the auditorium, facing the questioning gazes of so many wizarding bigwigs was scary enough, but now, Hermione realized that what was even more terrifying was what she was about to face.
Perhaps sensing her timidity, Hermin received a gentle squeeze of her shoulder from Professor McGonagall's hand.
Eventually, they made it to the entrance to the Gryffindor common room, where Professor McGonagall pulled Hermione away from the portrait of the Fat Lady. Hermione immediately looked up at Professor McGonagall, who she saw that she was smiling at her with her lips pursed, and she could clearly catch Professor McGonagall trying to hide her worry with a smile.
"I must admit, Miss Granger, this strikes me as bizarre—"
Professor McGonagall's shoulders swayed, but after she took a deep breath, she spoke in a tone that she had never felt gentler than ever
"At this point, whatever the man who threw your name into the Goblet of Fire is up to, Miss Granger, you're already a Warrior, so I want you to do your best to face this outcome in the Gryffindor style, okay?"
Hermione's eyes turned red again, and she didn't know how to respond to Professor McGonagall's expectations.
"There has always been some argument among the students. To think that you are just going to die reading, oh, what a ridiculous statement, and the professors have always disdained it. But I think you understand, Miss Granger, that this is a good opportunity to make all that gossip go away! ”
"But--"
Hermione had a lot on her mind, but she tried to clear her mind and focus on what Professor McGonagall had told her,
"Beauxbatons and Durmstrang selected their best students, as did Cedric Diggory. Professor Bryan also said that the Triwizard Tournament project was dangerous, that I didn't have enough magic, Professor McGonagall, I don't know about me."
"Oh, Miss Granger—"
Professor McGonagall interrupted Hermione,
"I don't know about Beauxbatons and Durmstrand's teaching, but at least Cedric Diggory, yes, that kid is good, but I think you're better than him, Miss Granger, and if he can handle those events, there's no reason you can't!"
In the bright light of the fire, Hermione stared at Professor McGonagall with wide eyes, unable to believe that Professor McGonagall had given her such a high evaluation, you know, Professor McGonagall had always been very 'subtle' when it came to praising people.
"Ah, of course, I don't want my opinion of you to be in the ears of Preacher Pomona, do you know what I mean, Miss Granger?"
Professor McGonagall winked in a rare playful way, which was unbelievable to Professor McGonagall, who had always valued image and majesty in front of his students!
"I already told you!"
As soon as the portrait of the fat lady was opened, Harry's impatient voice came out of the doorway, "Hermione spent the whole day with me, Ron, Hagrid, and a whole bunch of Durmstrang and Beauxbatons students, and they can all testify that there is no way Hermione will have time to throw her name into the Goblet of Fire!" ”
The Gryffindor lounge was overcrowded, with almost all of the house's students from Year 1 to Year 7 congregating here, and the center of the crowd was a few people who had been close to Hermione in the past.
"Potter!"
As soon as she walked into the common room, Professor McGonagall's face returned to the solemnity that Herge was familiar with, and she stood at the entrance of the cave and called Harry, but the noisy crowd easily drowned out her voice, and the attention was all on Harry, and she didn't notice Professor McGonagall and Hermione walking in.
"Mr. Potter!" Professor McGonagall raised her voice and shouted sternly again, "Can I trouble you to get off the table first?" ”
Harry was exhausted as the crowd asked questions over and over again, everyone was concerned about how Hermione had put her name in the Goblet of Fire, and they didn't stop explaining that Hermione didn't have that time at all, and that she wouldn't do it behind their backs, but the classmates seemed to have a filter on their ears that blocked out all his words, and Ron, who was supposed to testify with him, didn't say a word.
Harry, like everyone else, heard Professor McGonagall's voice at the same time, and immediately looked towards the door of the common room, and then he spotted Professor McGonagall staring sternly at him, and Hermione, who was smiling at himself beside Professor McGonagall.
"Oh, I'm sorry, Professor McGonagall!"
Harry jumped off the table in a panic, and there were so many people around the table that Ginny's instep was firmly stepped on, and he let out a cat-like scream of pain, but Harry only had time to say sorry, and before Ginny could respond, he rushed to the ground, desperately squeezing through the crowd and reaching Professor McGonagall.
"How's it going?" Harry's eyes widened, staring nervously at Hermione.
Hermione, apparently aware of what Harry's hoarse voice had done, pursed her lips and winked at Harry.
The long-term tacit understanding made Harry immediately understand that things should not be particularly bad, at least, Hermione was not expelled for this, otherwise, she would never have laughed.
After a little relief, Harry finally began to worry about himself, and he glanced at Professor McGonagall to see that she didn't look as ugly as he had hoped. Behind Harry, the Gryffindor students stood honestly, their dean was known to be a professor who valued the rules very much, and it was clear that it would not be pleasant for her to be crowded in the common room when she was supposed to go to bed.
Surprisingly, Professor McGonagall didn't lash out.
"The school thinks--"
Facing the doubtful and apprehensive little wizards, Professor McGonagall said lightly,
"You should be given some truth about what happened tonight, when Hermione Granger was chosen as a Warrior."
The young wizards' eyes widened, looking wistfully at Professor McGonagall and the silent Hermione.
"At present, the Ministry of Magic, Hogwarts, Beauxbatons, and Durmstrang have reached a consensus that Miss Granger's name appears in the Goblet of Fire, and it is not her personal act-"
Crash!
The quiet crowd burst into flames, even though Harry had been telling everyone that all night, but no one took it seriously, and who would be so kind as to throw someone's name into the Goblet of Fire to help him become a warrior!
"Who did that, Professor?" Fred raised his hand and asked, "Did you find out?" ”
"Unfortunately, Mr. Weasley, not yet!" Professor McGonagall's voice was a little colder, "But I'm sure there will be a truth about this sooner or later!" ”
"So how did you tell it wasn't Hermione who put her name in, and why did that person do that?"
Angelina couldn't help but ask.
Both of these issues were also of great concern, but it was unfortunate that Professor McGonagall did not explain it, telling them that this conclusion was a consensus reached through discussion and that no one should doubt it.
Professor McGonagall seemed to finish what she had to say, and after gently pushing Hermione towards the crowd, she turned to leave, but with one foot on the doorway, Professor McGonagall seemed to suddenly remember something, and she turned her head to look at the Gryffindor wizards again, and this time, her expression was less serious, even a little smiling,
"Oh, yes--"
Professor McGonagall shrugged her shoulders and said in a nonchalant tone,
"After discussion, Hermione Granger's status as a warrior is considered valid."
With that, Professor McGonagall left the common room, ignoring the cheers that shook the floor after closing the portrait of the fat lady!
