Chapter 11: "Slaughtering the Fat Sheep"
To be honest, the Hungarian top brass had a good relationship with the Rothschilds, but the Hungarians didn't know about this, let alone the sentries who set up random cards on the border.
Anselm's bodyguard, Boris Vincent, thought that he would be able to scare the other party by moving out of the Rothschild family.
As a result, these sentinels were all great Hungarianists who had been brainwashed by Kossuth, not to mention any Jewish financiers, even the emperor of Austria was here, and they had to be skinned down.
"Phew! Lackeys of the Jews, you dare to order me too? The Hungarian sentry was furious when he heard Boris's introduction.
"I'm not going to talk to you, I'm going to call your chief out. I can't cure it? Boris Vincent's commanding appearance would even make one suspect that he was Anselm Rothschild.
This is actually normal, the seven-rank official in front of the prime minister, not to mention the bodyguard of the son of "His Majesty the King".
In fact, this Boris Vincent is very experienced, and he choked the other party's pulse at once, because this level is private. If this matter is really investigated, these sentries will not be able to eat and walk around.
But he ignored a problem, that is, this is not a city, but a wilderness, and even if there are pedestrians on the road, no one dares to care about the army.
The leader of the sentries on the side put down half of the sweet potato in his hand, picked up a stick and walked towards Boris Vincent.
"Who are you going to cure?" The leader of the sentry said angrily, as he picked up the stick in his hand and stabbed the bodyguard in the stomach. This time I didn't spare my hand, and if I hit it, I would have to break a few ribs at the very least.
How can someone who might be appreciated by the Rothschilds be a waste? I saw that Boris grabbed it and subdued the ruffian sentry leader with a twist of his backhand.
But before he could get complacent, he was hit on the back of the head with a stick, and blood flowed immediately.
Boris was knocked and staggered forward a few steps before turning around and punching the sentry who had sneaked up on him in the face. The latter flew straight backwards, and was stomped in the chest by the former as he struggled to get up.
Boris pulled out a pistol from his body and pointed at the sentry at his feet.
"Get out of here, or I'll collapse you now!"
Then a gunshot was heard, and the white shirt under Borris's vest turned red.
The three sentries then stabbed dozens of more on the corpse, and the coachman and Anselm next to him were frightened, killing people was no stranger to them, but they couldn't help but feel sick to their stomachs when they saw the tragic death of someone they knew.
The three sentinels were originally just asking for money, and they were killed in a hurry. Even if you kill all the people in the car, you can walk away if you take away your belongings.
But they were afraid of a troubled conscience, so they arrested Anselm and the coachman and sent them to the gendarmerie on charges of smuggling goods and committing murder at gunpoint.
After these three people went back, they were not punished, but were rewarded, after all, after the implementation of this law, they have not handed over any "fat sheep".
When Anselm saw his bodyguard killed, he took it for granted that things weren't that simple, but his ability to improvise wasn't very good.
In the end, he was sent to prison like a piece of wood, and the coachman was beaten half to death for falsely claiming to be a Magyars.
If this is the case, it won't be a big problem. Just return Anselm and deal with some of the people who need to be dealt with, and that's the end of the matter.
But by chance, Anselm ran into a Magylar, who was not afraid of the reputation of the Rothschilds.
On the contrary, he felt that it was a good opportunity – a good opportunity to show the world what the Magyars are capable of.
So Anselm was tied to a cross and poked in the center of the sermon, and a sign around his neck read: "You must pay taxes according to the law, and my name is Anselm Rothschild, a Jew, a lackey of the Austrians."
(Anselm Rothschild, though Jewish, was an Austrian nobleman.) )
The news soon reached Buda and Pest, and the Hungarian leadership, although they were tempted to send Anselm back, was opposed by the Magyarists.
Because the latter felt that the magistrate had done the right thing, and that whoever broke the law in Hungary had to be dealt with in the Hungarian way, neither the Austrians nor the Jews.
The former, under pressure, could only order commendations for the arrest of Anselm's sentinels and officials, a practice that greatly irritated the Magyars.
A group of writers and historians under Kossuth told the old story again: the Magyars were the descendants of the Huns, and among the Huns only slaves were engaged in production, and the real warriors should be robbed and strong.
As a result, many ordinary people were infected by this emotion and joined the army of "slaughtering fat sheep".
It was the sudden disappearance of the three commended sentinels, not because it was an assassination or a conspiracy, but because they sensed danger.
Matthew and Dan were originally serfs of a certain landlord, and when there were "horse bandits" in Hungary, the old man was "unfortunately" killed.
Matthew and Dan and the other serfs burst into the old man's house and burned all the deeds, papers, and other paper items they could find.
However, in the end, they still became other people's serfs, and the new master was even more vicious, and the two of them couldn't stand it and sneaked out to join the temporarily established Magyar People's Army.
The two never expected that the person they arrested "casually" would cause an uproar.
When Solomon Rothschild learned of this, his lungs almost exploded, not because of the audacity of the Hungarians, but because of the stupidity and arrogance of his eldest son.
I knew that the land checkpoints from Hungary to Austria were many and difficult to walk, and it was not safe, but I had to go, and I only brought a bodyguard.
That Boris was also a fool and deserved to lose his life in Hungary.
However, this was a good thing for Solomon, as both Austria and Hungary were courting him.
Anselm also went to talk about business this time, Hungary wants to develop its own industry, but one has no technology, and the other has no money, and the Rothschilds just have both.
Moreover, because of the repeated defeats on the side of Austria, Solomon intended to "turn on another lord." So the two sides got on the line with the help of the broker.
From what happened to Anselm, he knew that the negotiations must have broken down.
However, in Solomon's opinion, it would be good to be able to exchange a waste life for a letter of surrender to rebuild with Austria.
Solomon approached Metternich as an old friend, who was shocked by his exhaustion and old age.
But the European prime minister is the European prime minister after all, he has seen too many people and things, too many conspiracies and tricks, how can he be fooled by a mere bitter trick.
"Prime Minister, Anselm was captured by the Magyars, and they insulted him. In order that my family will not suffer this humiliation again in the future, I am willing to serve the Empire."
Solomon was sincere, but Metternich knew that this was a business talk, and the latter did not like the former, but Austria did need money at this time.
"Don't worry, old friend. Anselm will be fine, and we're doing everything we can to fix this. In addition, the royal family is preparing to open a new batch of factories in Bohemia, I wonder if you are interested? ”
