It was a textbook battle, and Vice Admiral Andrew Brown Cunningham, who commanded the British aircraft carrier group, became famous. The most surprising thing was that the main force in this battle was actually the "Swordfish" carrier-based torpedo bomber, which was seriously backward in performance and had become obsolete.

The "Swordfish" carrier-based torpedo bomber is a biplane launched by Fairey in 1928, which is similar in model and performance to the original time and space product of the same name, but earlier. In this world, where aviation technology is developing very fast, this kind of aircraft is actually outdated before it has even been tested for flight.

At the end of World War I, the world's mainstream aircraft have been replaced by monoplanes, and Britain is no exception, but the torpedo planes of the British Navy have not been replaced with monoplanes for a long time. However, biplanes also have the advantages of biplanes, they penetrate from ultra-low altitudes at extremely low speeds, and then there are flexible movements, small turning radius, and excellent directivity. Vice Admiral Cunningham planned an extremely bold surprise attack based on these characteristics of the swordfish.

His target was Wilhelmshaven, the home port of the German High Seas Fleet, in the Yard Bay. At 2:10 a.m., Vice Admiral Cunningham's aircraft carrier squadron released all 298 Swordfish torpedo bombers on the sea 370 kilometers from Wilhelmshaven, which was not Pearl Harbor and could only carry out a wave of attacks.

In fact, until the start of the war, British aircraft carriers did not have the ability to fight at night. But for the sake of this operation, the British also let go. Flying at an ultra-low altitude of more than 100 meters, where "the wheels were almost all rubbing against the waves", completely rendered the Germans' radar completely useless. On the contrary, when the air listening post that was about to fail first discovered the attack planes, but by this time, the group was less than 60 kilometers away from Wilhelmshaven.

Wilhelmshaven suddenly became alarmed, the air defense positions immediately entered a combat state, and all ships also hurriedly lit fires to preheat the boilers, and the night fighters at the same airfield also took off urgently to intercept them.

The British did not expect the Germans to do so, and they did not expect the British to be so bold as to attack their heavily guarded home port. At this time, except for a few light ships such as destroyers and torpedo boats that carried out combat readiness patrols, the boilers of all large and medium-sized ships moored in the home port were all in a state of flame-off, which was to save fuel and reduce the loss of parts of the power system.
