51. One-sided

Conrad Coetzes held the parchment scroll in his hand and read it carefully. This is not the norm, and any paperwork is just a glimpse of the primordial. But this one is different, this one is Roger Donne's own handwriting, and it is not a paperwork.

Actually, it's a letter.

And Coetzes cherishes brotherhood, more than ever. All kinds of factors are superimposed, which makes him look serious at the moment.

Carlil leaned against a nearby wall, silently observing the changes in the Night Lord's office within the lair. He saw several extra paintings, four weapons of various shapes and styles, a sculpture of the Nightfall, and a large beast pelt.

Paintings and sculptures were not in his mind, and he was not good at art. The weapons are worth mentioning, as they include a sword, a power hammer, a Seiko blaster that fits the size of the original, and a pair of lightning claws.

The sword itself is exquisite, even so delicate that it is closer to a work of art than a weapon, and it has a strong Blood Angel art style. A pair of flamboyant angel wings were made into gauntlets, and a ruby teardrop glittered between the wings, so bright that it was eerie.

The blade itself may seem unremarkable at first glance, but if you look closely, you will see that it contains countless small reliefs, and it has a terrifying elegance.

The power hammer is dark green and has a rugged appearance, but the dark black surface of the hammer head exudes a blazing heat, and even the naked eye can feel that its temperature is distorting the air. Strangely, despite the intense temperature, it didn't cause any damage to the walls.

The Blaster has a silent gray color that fits well with the concept of a weapon, with no extra paint or decoration. The only sign is a golden skull directly above the barrel, but its own shape is quite chilling.

It has six barrels that are joined together.

Finally, there is the pair of lightning claws, which have a gloomy opulence, with a dark blue surface and accents of scarlet and gold, which is very distinctly Midnight Blade style. The six claws crossed each other, curling in a deadly arc, and they were a match made in heaven for Conrad Coz.

As for the animal fur

"It's a little too big, too." Carlil couldn't help but speak. "What kind of animal fur is this, Conrad?"

"The Bearbeast of Banollig is extinct." The Lord of the Night replied without raising his head. "A beast with infinite strength that can tear apart clay steel. Why is the Milky Way full of things that can tear apart the clay steel? ”

"That's why there's Adamantite armor." Carlil smiled as he leaned in over the hanging fur and began to examine it closely.

The man who killed it was undoubtedly a good hunter, and he knew very well how to kill the beast in order to obtain the whole fur, and the fatal wound was cleverly concealed.

As Carlil stared intently at the inconspicuous penetrating wound, he remembered a hunter stabbing the beast through the heart with a spear in his hand.

"It's a gift from Riemann Ruth." Konrad Coetzes said. "I don't see him much, but he's an honest uh, drunkard?"

"Drunkard?" Carlil turned his head with his hands behind his back. "That's an interesting adjective."

"He does like to drink, and he's very good at drinking." Coetzes rubbed his neck uncomfortably. "His children too, their original special Fenris honey is terrifying, and the taste will last a lifetime."

"Looks like you've gotten to know a lot of people I don't know."

"You know." Conrad Coetzes shook his head. "They've all seen you, you've seen them, don't tell me you don't have those memories."

"No, I meanβ€”" Carlil raised his hand and tapped his chest. "β€”me, not a shell."

"That's not on my radar." Coetzes smiled a little causticly. "In short, their first impression of you is not very good, especially Vulcan. You choked him with anger at the time. ”

"Excuse me, say it again?"

"Vulcan." The Lord of the Night repeats slowly. "My tallest brother, he's about the same height as you, maybe a little taller than you. And very strong. However, despite his scary appearance, he is actually a very nice person. The first time you met was the Battle of Helpano where we reinforced them as a reserve. ”

"Hmm," Carlil nodded thoughtfully. "Fighting a group of humans who coexist with aliens?"

"Yes. Don't you remember? ”

"There are only fragments and images, Conrad, there is no complete event. My memories of those eighteen years are shattered, and everyone's face is spinning like a whirlpool, filled with an eerie light. It all got mixed up, and I had a hard time figuring out what I was looking for. ”

Carlil sighed, "Soβ€”how the hell did I make Vulcan angry?" ”

"You entered the enemy city alone, disappeared for seventeen hours, and then, you returned with the heads of the alien kings."

Coetzes shrugged and grinned, making no secret of his mockery.

"What a feat, father. If you leave us behind, ignore the call and disobey the order, go it alone."

Carlil was silent for a few seconds, and Conrad Coetze's demeanor and speech at the moment gave him a very familiar sense of dΓ©jΓ  vu.

"And then?" He asked again. "What happened next?"

Vulcan tried to reason with you, but you didn't listen at all. You threw the thing's head off, and it was- cough. ”

Coates coughed a few times, puffed out his chest, straightened his face, and spoke again with a cold expression.

"I don't have time to waste here, push slowly. Your accusations are unjustified, my actions are correct, and the enemy cannot pose a threat to me. They are now in a state of fear, and if you are of normal intelligence, you should take this opportunity to win. I'm leaving, and I still have official documents to correct. ”

The Lord of the Night laughed.

"I still have official documents to correct! Hear this! He smiled uncontrollably and shook his head. You were a workaholic."

Carlil was silent again, much longer than before. He felt the urge to sigh, but he held back and held his forehead.

"So, your good image is gone in those eighteen years, Carlile."

The Lord of the Night shrugged and chuckled and stood up from behind his desk. "That's why Corax cares so much about it, he basically asks me about you every other year."

"Then I'm really flattered." Carlil said slowly. "What does Rogge's letter say?"

"What? Are you finally going to be a strict parent? Are you going to spot check your child's letters? ”

Carlil looked up and glanced at the Lord of the Night with an indescribable expression.

"Okay." Coetzes couldn't help but smile, looking very happy. Carlil glared at him, finally revealing a more normal emotion.

"He just told me to leave for Ulanor as soon as possible, the general assault on the orcs has been won, and the Emperor wants to spend a whole year reshaping Ulanor into a beacon, a beacon that symbolizes that the Great Expedition has finally reached a certain point."

"It probably took a whole year to do this. We had plenty of time to get over to the event, but it was a little strange to me. ”

"Strange?"

"yes." Coates nodded. "It's always strange to be part of someone else's celebration, and these honors have nothing to do with us after all."

"Aren't you going to go?"

"Of course I will." The Lord of the Night sighed. "How can you not go? Roger Dorn personally sent me an invitation, hoping to see me at the scene. If I refuse, I guess I won't want to have a good life in the future. ”

"So, will all the primordials be there?" Carlil asked.

"Not necessarily." Conrad Coetzes lowered his head and began to look through the datapad to check the list. An event like Ullanor deserves to be accompanied by an entire legion, but unfortunately, it is not possible.

There must be a part of the people who remain in Nostramo and carry out their duties. Coates doesn't plan to pick the candidates himself, that would be too much, and whether he is selected or not is not a good thing.

This matter will probably still be solved by the old way of the Nightblades - real sword duel, otherwise what else can be done?

Is it possible to expect the sons of the Nostramo nest, who were brought up by the descendants of prisoners, to follow the rules? Don't even think about it, most Midnight Blades are rebellious when they're not in wartime.

However, while he doesn't intend to pick some people and leave out others, he will do his best to make every battle fair by arranging the roster.

"Not necessarily?" Carlil raised an eyebrow. "What? Who still doesn't want to go to this kind of thing? ”

"Some people probably can't get out of the way." Coetzes said with his head down. "Like Ferus, who ran around with his legions and almost turned war into life. Fogen complained to me last time that he hadn't seen him in four years. ”

"It's a lot like him."

"And, of course, Luojia." Coetzes looked up and tapped his fingers on the table. "He hasn't spoken to us in years."

"You guys?"

"Everyone, not just me and Robert." The Lord of the Night said quietly. "His legion has changed a lot, at least, the years he used to spend peacefully conquering a world by faith are no longer visible."

"At one point, they were even directly held accountable by Terra for slaughtering an entire world, leaving only a few dozen survivors. Terra confronts them as to why they are doing this, to which Lorja replies that they don't believe in the gods and refuse to submit to it. ”

Carlil narrowed his eyes and nodded, "What do you think?" ”

"Nope." Said the Lord of the Night. "I don't see much, and my father, most of them, is my own end. As for how Luo Jia is. I hope he's okay. I can only hope he's okay. ”
