8. Learn to relax and stay away from fatigue

Scientists have discovered an incredible fact: the use of brain power alone does not make people tired. When blood flowing through active brain cells was drawn for testing, there was not the slightest sign of fatigue. In contrast, if a sample of the blood of a worker who is doing manual labor is found to be full of "fatigue toxins", scientists conclude that it is these "fatigue toxins" that cause fatigue.

From this, we can conclude that just hard work does not make people tired. What an incredible thing!

We have to ask: what are the "fatigue toxins" that make us feel tired?

The famous British psychologist Hart Field wrote in his book The Psychology of Power

"The vast majority of the fatigue we feel is due to mental factors. Fatigue caused purely by physiological exertion is almost non-existent. ”

The famous American psychopathologist Bullier declared even more affirmatively: "The fatigue of people who are in good health and often sit at work is due to psychological factors, or what we call emotional factors." ”

What are the psychological factors that affect the fatigue of people who work at their desks on a regular basis? Happy? Satisfy? Of course not! It's boredom, dissatisfaction, an unwelcome feeling of uselessness, anxiety, sorrow, etc. These negative emotional factors will consume the energy of these long-term sitting staff, making them less susceptible to colds, losing energy, and going home groggily every day. Yes, the tension that these negative emotions create in the body is a very important reason why we feel tired.

Many life insurance companies have brochures that say: Worry, nervousness, and distraction are the main causes of fatigue, and we often mistake it for physical or mental exertion – remember, tight muscles are at work. So, relax yourself! Put all your energy into what matters most.

Now, please stop what you're doing for a moment and check it out for yourself. When you read this, are you frowning at the book? Do you feel the muscles between your eyes tighten? Are you very relaxed in your chair? Or shrug your shoulders? Are the muscles in your face tense? Unless your whole body is as loose as a lazy cat sleeping under the sun, you are now creating mental and muscle tension, which is creating fatigue!

A lot of fatigue caused by tension is created by oneself invisibly. There is a famous Chinese saying that "tired is tired", which is exactly what is said.

So what are the ways to relieve fatigue? Just relax! Just relax! Relax again! Learn to relax anytime, anywhere!

How do we relax next? You should start with the muscles to relax.

To be more precise, let's assume that we start with the eyes, read this passage first, then lean back, close your eyes, and silently say to your eyes: "Relax, relax, don't frown, don't frown, relax, relax...... and you keep repeating slowly for about a minute.

Now, do you notice that your muscles are starting to relax? Do you feel like your eyes are shining and your spirits are lifted? Yes, it may seem incredible, but in just one minute, you've learned the secret of self-relaxation. This method can be applied to the muscles of the head, neck, face, shoulders and the entire body.

Indeed, relaxation is especially necessary for those who regularly work at their desks. Dr. Edmund Agebson of the University of Chicago said: If a person can completely relax his eye muscles, he will be able to forget all his worries! The main reason for this is that the eye consumes a quarter of the energy consumed by the nerves of the whole body. Many people with good vision often experience "eye strain" that causes vision loss because they cause a nervous reaction in the eyes.

Baum, a famous female writer, said that when she was a child, she met an old man who taught her the most important lesson of her life. At that time, she fell and injured her knee and wrist, and an old man helped her up. The old man, who had been a circus clown, helped her pat off the dust and said, "The reason why you get hurt is because you don't know how to relax yourself, you have to relax yourself like an old sock, come here, I'll show you how to do it." ”

The old man taught Baum and the other children how to run, how to jump, how to do somersaults. He kept emphasizing: "Think of yourself like a pair of baggy old socks and you'll be sure to relax!" ”

In fact, you don't have to ask yourself to relax, you can relax anytime and anywhere, and keep repeating: "Relax...... Just relax...... ...... you relax, you can feel a sense of vitality rising in your body, spreading throughout your body, and you will feel that you are free of stress and tension, and you will become as free as a child, as relaxed as a bird.

Here are four tips to help you learn how to relax yourself:

(1) Place a pot of fragrant flowers on your desk.

(2) Change bad work habits and try to adopt a comfortable posture at work. Remember, physical tension can lead to back pain and mental fatigue.

(3) Self-examination four or five times a day. And ask yourself: "Am I doing things efficiently?" Did you make your muscles do unnecessary work? "This will allow you to develop a habit of self-relaxation.

(4) Do a general review again every evening. Ask yourself, "How tired am I?" If I feel tired, it's not because I'm worried, it's because I'm not working the right way. Daniel Jocelyn once said, "I don't measure my performance by how tired I am, but by how little I don't get tired." He said: "When the day is over and I feel very tired, or when I feel that my spirit is very tired, I know that the day is not enough in terms of quality and quantity of work." "If people all over the world understood this, then the mortality rate from high blood pressure or depression caused by excessive stress would decline rapidly, and psychiatric hospitals and nursing homes would no longer be overcrowded.

Another great way to eliminate or avoid fatigue is to enjoy what you're doing. Let's look at Alice's example below.

Alice is a company employee, and one day, she came home tired and weak, and didn't want to eat, just wanted to go to bed. Suddenly, the phone rings, and it's her boyfriend calling to invite her to dance! Alice's eyes lit up, and her whole body became excited. She rushed upstairs, changed her clothes, and ran out in a hurry, not returning home until three o'clock in the morning.

She didn't seem to be tired, and she couldn't sleep because of her overexcitement.

Alice's two completely different performances before and after are enough to show that mental exertion is more likely to cause people to get tired than physical exertion. A few years ago, Dr. Joseph Bomack published an experimental report in the Archives of Psychology in which he laid out how the tedium of current affairs can lead to fatigue. He had several students do a series of tedious experiments, and as a result, the students were impatient, and some complained of headaches, eye strain, restlessness, and some even felt sick to their stomachs. Could it be that these are all "imaginary"? Of course not. The students also had their metabolism tested, which showed that when people were tired, their oxygen consumption was significantly reduced. And when work is more interesting and engaging, the body's metabolism will speed up.

From this, it can be concluded that our fatigue is often caused by psychological factors such as worry, frustration, dissatisfaction, etc., rather than due to work. If you are engaged in mental work, the reason for your fatigue may be that you have not completed the workload, not because of the amount of work that has been completed, but often because of the anxiety and frustration caused by the pressure of unfinished work, and eventually we are exhausted.

There is a philosophical episode in "Acting Boat": "This kind of person is lucky to be able to do what he is willing to do." "Yes, this kind of person always has more energy, more joy, and no fatigue of worry. If you are interested, you will be energetic, and you must know that it is more tiring to walk a short distance with a nagging person than to walk ten miles with a close friend!

Here's what Miss Jasmine, a stenographer, has to say about this issue. She said:

"There were four stenographers in my office, and one day, an assistant in a department had to ask me to retype a long letter, and I didn't want to. I told him that he didn't have to replay, just fix the typo, but he said that if I didn't do it, he would find someone else to do it! I was so angry that I had to do it all over again because I was afraid that someone else would take the opportunity to take the position and I needed it myself, so I had to pretend that I liked the job in order to make myself better off – and to my surprise, I really started to like it a little bit. I've also found that once I like what I do, productivity increases. So now I rarely need to work overtime. This new positive attitude towards work has led to the perception that I am an excellent employee. Later, when the head of a department needed a personal secretary, I was chosen – because he said that I was always enthusiastic about going the extra mile! The wonderful power of this change in mindset was truly the most important discovery of my life, and truly amazing! ”

Renowned broadcast news analyst Cutemben had a successful sales pitch as a young man. Although he did not know French, he was able to successfully promote a stereoscopic slide projector in France. Katen once said to young people who aspire to success: "We often think that exercise is so important to our bodies that we get up and move around before we wake up." But what we need more is a spiritual, mental movement that will push us to put our successful plans into action. So, every day, you might as well say something to yourself that inspires your faith. ”

Does that sound funny, superficial, or childish? Not at all! Actually, this is absolutely true psychologically.

Talking to ourselves every day can lead us to think about what courage and happiness are, what peace and strength are. Talk to yourself every day about something you are grateful for, and the sky of your heart will be vast and overflowing with joy.

Have you learned to relax now? Feeling relaxed? Don't think too much, just take your time to follow the methods mentioned above, take your time, don't rush it, when you find that these benefits you are immense, that is, when you are free from fatigue, happy and healthy, and when you exude charming charm.
