Chapter 507: The Great German Empire

PS: Yesterday there was something in the company, I'm sorry, now make up for it......

..............................................................................

When the history of the earth entered the year 2775, that is, after 1934 in the Western calendar, the economic crisis of unprecedented scale that broke out from the United States and swept the entire capitalist world for more than four years finally showed signs of abating.

The toll of this economic crisis has been staggering, as the volume of world trade has fallen by more than two-thirds in the past few years, and more than 30 million people have lost their jobs, or more than 50 million if you add the semi-unemployed. Countless factories have gone bankrupt, countless banks have failed, and countless farms have ceased production.

Industrial production in the capitalist world as a whole fell by more than a third, with the United States by almost half, Germany by forty percent, France by 30 percent, Britain by 20 percent, and Italy by 10 percent. The production capacity of major countries in Europe and the United States even returned to the level of the beginning of the 20th century or the end of the 19th century.

The economic losses caused by the collapse of stock prices and production shutdowns amounted to 80 billion pounds, which is comparable to the economic losses caused by the First World War.

This is the largest, longest-lasting, and most profound economic crisis that human society has faced so far. It is also the most widespread and hardest world economic crisis in the history of capitalist development. For these capitalist countries, this is simply a stab by someone, which is almost equivalent to fighting another world war, although there are not many deaths, but the sourness brought by the economic loss is really cool to grandma's house.

The past four years have been a terrible one for people in the West, and the memories are no less terrible than the First World War.

But no matter how big the catastrophe is, the economic crisis is showing signs of receding after four years of rage. The whole capitalist world is like going through a harsh winter, ushering in the early spring of Hexi. Financial markets are starting to pick up, factories and farms are back in production, banks are back in business, and industries are starting to pick up again.

However, before people had time to celebrate this long-lost spring, they were shaken by a deafening "spring thunder".

This "spring thunder" was the German invasion of Austria!

On February 14, 1934, this is Valentine's Day in Western countries, and on one day, many couples will find opportunities to do something without shame, and the key words are "push down", "XXOO" or something. Germany is no exception, it is very romantic to give its old lover Austria a backstab, after the knockdown XXOO...... The younger brothers shouted, "Together, together!" and in the end, they were together and married.

Well, it's a joke. The fact is that Germany invaded Austria on February 14, and two months later, Austria was completely defeated. On May 1, German Emperor Wilhelm III announced to the world: Germany and Austria will merge to form the "Greater German Reich"!

If we go back to the source, this time it will cause this result, and it is also an economic crisis. Without this economic crisis, the Ukrainian people would not have revolted. If there had not been a great Ukrainian uprising, that poor King Mysimilian would not have hung up. If Mesimilian hadn't hung up, his father, Ferdinand V, would not have been so sick from grief. If Ferdinand V had not been so unexpectedly hung up, the political situation in Austria would not have been so chaotic. If Austria had not fallen into political chaos, Erdezi would not have had a chance to succeed...... So everything is the fault of the economic crisis.

To put it simply, this is how the development chain of this matter goes. Of course, this is only a superficial reason, and perhaps these are the triggers, but the root cause is the system problems in Austria itself.

As we all know, the country of the Austrian Empire is a whole wonder, and in fact, this country has survived until now, and it is already full of character. Its predecessor was the Holy Roman Empire, which was "neither holy, nor Roman, nor imperial" that had been spit out by countless people. The appearance is incomparably glamorous, but the interior is full of contradictions and fragments, and the Habsburg family, which is called the "lower body fortress" by the people of the rivers and lakes, has always been unpopular. The most important thing is that the "lower body fort" family seems to have added all their skills to bed exercises, and the political and military are relatively frustrated.

After being blown up by Napoleon, the country could only be reorganized into the more bizarre "Austro-Hungarian Empire". Although it still retains the title of empire and emperor, it is still not worthy of the name. After the First World War, even Austria-Hungary could not hold on, and finally divided into three things. The three largest parts, Austria, Hungary and Bohemia (Czechoslovakia), became independent states.

The last remaining Austrian Empire, although the internal situation is still more touching, is much better than before the partition, after all, the remaining part of Austria, the proportion of Germans can barely make up more than half. But the country was largely barely maintained by Ferdinand V's charisma and skill, and without him, it would have gone its separate ways. It's like a broken porcelain bowl that has been glued together with rice broth, and it's okay to put it away, but if it encounters any external force, it will break all at once.

Unfortunately, Austria was hit by an economic crisis, and the contradictions that had been suppressed surfaced and the Austrian Empire was crumbling. It was precisely at this critical moment that Ferdinand V, whose son was overly grieved, fell ill, and after the eldest could not afford to fall ill, the internal contradictions were irreconcilable, and the situation in Austria became more and more unbearable.

In December 1932, Ferdinand V, who had been on his sickbed for more than a year, finally took his last breath and went with his son. The white jade pillar of the Austrian Empire, the purple and gold beam of the sea is finished, and the country is also crumbling. During the more than a year when Ferdinand V was bedridden, the republican faction represented by the emerging bourgeoisie, the local separatist forces in Croatia and other places, the pan-German right-wing forces led by the National Socialist Party, and the left-wing parties led by the Austrian Communist Party all took advantage of the economic crisis to develop rapidly, and the political structure of the whole country changed a lot.

It stands to reason that the next emperor of Austria should be his nephew, Archduke Karl, who was succeeded by the crown prince of Austria. However, this dude was more unlucky, and his succession caused waves. Many people in Austria did not want him to succeed to the throne, the republicans wanted to establish a federal republic, while the independents in Croatia and other places wanted to establish their own state, the right-wing forces wanted to form a Greater German state in alliance with Germany, and the left-wing forces wanted to establish a socialist state.

Everyone's political demands are different, but the same thing is that they don't want him to come to power. The prestige and skill of Archduke Karl were far inferior to that of his uncle, and he could not suppress these forces at all, and even the army could not control them. So he never ascended the throne.

The following year was a year of intrigue between the various forces in Austria. On Christmas Day 1933, the impatient Republicans and the Austrian Communist Party and other left-wing parties united to form a republican coalition and staged a coup d'état, detaining Archduke Karl, deposing the crown prince, and then abolishing the monarchy and establishing a republican government.

Both Wilhelm III and Hitler believed that the opportunity they had been waiting for for had finally arrived.

Hitler excitedly proclaimed in the cabinet: "...... The Habsburgs simply did not have the ability to rule Austria, and the German people should have been united under the same banner long ago. Now that Austria is in turmoil, and the German compatriots in Austria are facing a crisis, it is the duty of our German Reich to save them. Wilhelm the Great's dream of establishing Greater Germany will be realized by us. One country, one nation, one emperor!"

The German government and the German National Socialist Workers' Party (Nazi Party) immediately went into action, and Hitler sent Hess and Goebbels to Austria to liaise with the Austrian Nazi Party and the pan-German right-wing forces, as well as the Loyalists and other groups, and the German army began to move to the border.

On 11 February, Archduke Karl escaped from the palace under house arrest and went to Germany to ask for help. Unexpectedly, they were attacked by unknown armed men on the road, and the Grand Duke Karl and his wife were seriously injured and died after rescue efforts failed. There are different opinions as to who was responsible for this attack, but anyway, the Germans and right-wingers insisted that the Austrian and Republican factions were responsible.

At 4 o'clock in the morning of February 14, the German army rumbled across the German-Austrian border under the pretext of "arresting the murderers, fighting terrorism, maintaining order in Austria, and saving the German compatriots". At this time, due to the chaotic political situation, the Austrian army had no unified command at all due to the leaderless state. The royalists, the Austrian Nazi Party, and the pan-German right-wing forces had an absolute advantage in the army, and the Austrian troops on the German-Austrian border were basically under their control.

With the help of the Austrian Belt and Road Party, the Germans did not encounter any resistance, and they were rushing and aggressively all the way, which was simply an armed and rapid march. The German mechanized units rushed all the way and entered Vienna at 3 p.m. that day. The commander of the Vienna garrison was a Nazi, and he directly ordered his subordinates not to resist and let the Germans enter the city. The Republican Alliance, which was caught off guard, did not have time to react at all, and when it was still arguing in the Reichstag, it was defeated by the German mobile commandos who broke through the door.

This time Germany acted so fast that before the Great Powers could come to their senses, Austria fell to its knees. This is also something that can't be helped, there are so many leading parties, even God has to kneel. Britain and France had just recovered from the economic crisis, and when they were still hesitating, the dust had already settled. On the one hand, the United States has just relieved its breath, and on the other hand, it can't reach that far, and it will be done with a few words.

The Soviet Union, which was most likely to react, remained silent, as if nothing had happened. It was only a month later that the Soviet Union and Poland signed an agreement to take over Western Belarus, and it dawned on people. It turned out that the Soviets and Germany had hooked up, and the mustache gained the support of the bearded man at the cost of returning Western Belarus and acquiescing in the actions of the USSR against Finland. Both sides rejoiced.

Subsequently, on behalf of the Central Powers and the Third International, the Soviets and Germany signed non-aggression pacties and commercial trade agreements, and of course the demarcation of spheres of influence.

..................................................................

May 4, 2775 (1934), Hanking, Presidential Palace.

"Your Excellency the President, His Majesty the Kaiser Wilhelm III and His Excellency Chancellor Hitler, I sincerely invite you to attend the founding celebrations of the German Empire and the coronation of His Majesty the Emperor......" The German Ambassador to China, Mr. Todmann, respectfully handed over an invitation.

"Thank you very much for the invitation of His Majesty the Emperor and His Excellency the Prime Minister, if there is no accident, I will attend on time......" Wen Deji took the invitation with a smile, and then asked with some curiosity: "Coronation ceremony?"

I'm going to go, what is this kid doing with Wei San, do you still have to wear the crown of Austria, and you can't play double crowns? You think you have opened an online store. Wen Deji couldn't help but vomit in his heart.

"Well, that's the case...... "Toddmann thought it was better to explain, and he thought it was really impossible for outsiders to know about that mess in Germany.

In fact, Wilhelm III was also crowned Emperor of Germany this time, but it was a little different from the previous title. His current title is "German Emperor", also known as Deutscher-Kaiser. And the one who will be crowned is the "Emperor of Germany", that is, Kaiser–Von-Deutschland, or "Emperor of all Germany".

When Wilhelm I was crowned in the Hall of Mirrors in 1871, he hoped that he would be "Emperor of Germany", but the bottom was not convinced, and finally the title approved by the Parliament was "Emperor of Germany". For this matter, William and Bismarck had a big quarrel and almost staged a real PK.

Bismarck argued that the Second Reich was not an empire in the true sense of the word, but was still in fact a federation of 25 states that retained considerable autonomy, and was in fact an extension of the North German Confederation. It's just that Prussia, by much surpassing its accomplices in size and population, occupies a dominant position in it. He thought it would be foolish for Wilhelm to be "Emperor of Germany", but none of the other friends in the North German Confederation were willing, let alone what the title would do in Austria-Hungary.

The relationship between these two names is a bit like that of the "King of Prussia" and "King of Prussia". To put it simply, the "German Emperor" is less genuine than the "German Emperor", and the status is lower. Because the latter included the whole German nation, equivalent to the Holy Roman Emperor, in addition to Prussia's already unified Saxony, Bavaria, Baden and other states, nominally also included Austria, a country independent of Germany.

In fact, these two titles seem to outsiders to be similar to Nima, but the Germans like to play this kind of boring word game and toss around.

However, after the First World War, Wilhelm II strengthened his internal integration, and later took the opportunity of suppressing the German Communist Revolution to completely deprive those states of their autonomy, and this truly became an empire. Now after annexing Austria again, Wei San thought of his grandfather's wish again, so he discussed with the mustache, should we change the title.

When the mustache heard this, he immediately expressed his support, claiming that there can only be one emperor for the German people, and that it is most appropriate for you to be the "emperor of Germany", so there is this farce.
