It just so happened that there was an undercurrent surging in my mind, and at that time, I wanted to write a novel that showed the panoramic appearance of the countryside, so I began to conceive the central idea of this theme.

To be honest, it's not enough to write such a novel of hundreds of thousands of words with just one impulse. But if you have an idea, you can't do it without putting pen to paper, and then the inspiration will soon be "stillborn". After thinking about it for a long time, I began to write, and in this way, I revised, modified, painted, and smeared, and most of the time inadvertently flowed through my fingers. It wasn't until the outbreak of the pandemic this spring that I was confined to my home after the restrictions on human interaction, and my free time gave me an invisible impetus to calm down and focus on writing.

In fact, with a good idea, there is a basic outline and direction for writing. In this way, it is much easier to write down according to the outline. However, there are still many difficulties in conceiving the characters.

The first draft of "Fangjia Courtyard" has about 378000 words, and there are more than 100 people in the novel alone. But the main characters can't be too many and too complex, and the personality traits of each character that appears must be diverse and different. The protagonist in the novel, Xu Yunqin, is an authentic new generation of young farmers, a character with a very distinct personality and very special personality characteristics. He has good qualities, a good humanity and an indomitable will; But at the same time, he is also stubborn, inflexible, and not good at communicating and admitting death. He and his father Xu Zhiguo are regarded as the same as fire and water, and the two personalities are incompatible, so that they are irreconcilable.

The article affirmed that Xu Yunqin's personality brilliance once illuminated the path of many people. Xu Yunqin was able to endure huge mental scars while losing his true love, but still supported and helped his "House of Hatred" family without hesitation, and finally decided to "sacrifice" his life in exchange for the growth of the next generation of weak orphans of the Fang family, and the brilliance of humanity was further released. On this basis alone, he is a great, a bright spot with a high degree of spiritual brilliance, and is worthy of our affirmation and learning; But Xu Yunqin's father is synonymous with old-fashioned, ignorant, and feudal selfishness. At the same time, the novel also presents a large number of rural women's characters, and their different personalities reflect different outlooks on life and attitudes, all of which represent the character characteristics of different women in the countryside. From the multi-angle, multi-level and multi-breadth character traits of these women, different quality levels are revealed: the character traits of greed, selfishness, nosy, sowing discord, vexatiousness, and laziness of women represented by Fang Caihe's mother and daughter fully show that there is such a group of people who are ignorant, arrogant, unreasonable, and selfish in the vast social environment of the countryside; However, this group of people is a minority after all, and in the vast countryside, there are also emerging images of virtuous housekeepers, hard-working, hard-working, hard-working, and leading to get rich in the vast countryside. But these two women with different personalities are not bad, everything is bad, good is good, selfless and noble to impeccable.
