Chapter 27: Mass Destruction
Walter Tye sits on a massive stone throne built from the remains of the Temple of Lyons Shell and surrounded by an immortal court. Thick fog obscured the sun overhead, shrouding the ruined city in an eerie twilight. Hagen stays on his right, while Tongue and her accomplices wait for their turn on his left.
A pair of frightened and silent living men stood in front of him, the mutilated bodies of their three sons lying on the cold stones in front of them. They are the slaves of some nobles who die while fleeing the rendezvous, leaving the children behind, hoping to distract from the greedy ghouls who are chasing him.
It failed.
As a group of undead stared at them dangerously, Tyne could see the fear on their faces; Necromancers can even hear their rampant superficial thoughts, thanks to his new [Mind Thief] race perks.
Will they eat us? Will they kill us?
"No, they won't," Walter replied telepathically, his stiff, snake-like throat now speechless. Far from reassuring the slaves, this further intimidated them, and his power surpassed them.
Because in the eyes of mortals, Tai is no longer a person, not even a necromancer. He is a god of darkness; It's the kind of parents who scare their children with stories at night.
(Disaster).
Ghouls, skeletons, vampires...... All sorts of undead come back to life as they converge, but when Tye emerges from the hole connecting Leonis and Nastron, they are captivated by his will. They claim the city as their own, and as an army they will help him defend his new homeland from those who harm them; They even drove Loki's friends out of the area, even though these monsters could haunt the countryside for years.
Nastron will be a safe haven for the undead for a new Pale Serpent Brotherhood. A city that won't fall like the Black Castle.
Thankfully, Tai has no intention of exterminating humanity. On the contrary, he wants to save it and prove it immediately. The necromancer wields the elongated Staff of Apophis and uses the energy in the ring to cast spells using the [Necromantic Stone]. β[Naglfa
]γ β
The body of one of the children was restored intact and began to breathe again. His family bowed their heads, both frightened and hopeful; Eventually, when the son began to regain consciousness, the mother abandoned all caution and rushed to her son's side.
There's nothing better than a new spell layer. Tai can now wield spells up to the ninth layer, truly joining the ranks of the archmages.
Tay cast two more spells, using his ring reserves until he resurrected the entire family.
"You're free." The necromancer announced. "Free from the bondage of man and God. Ye are no longer slaves, nor are ye dead; You can stay as citizens of my city, or leave unscathed and start a new life elsewhere. β
Apparently, they were too scared to speak, and the parents held the child in their arms. But he could read their minds.
At what cost?
"If you decide to leave, you'll tell everyone who wants to hear the news," Tye said. "I'm willing to bring anyone back to life, as long as someone can give me a piece of their body. Even ashes will do, or a tooth. I won't ask for any price and it won't make any difference. Whether they're at Valhalla or Helheim, I can't go back. Death has been abolished. β
His job is done, and there are still hundreds of people to raise today, Tai waved his hand. Three ghouls took the family to a refugee camp on the other side of the Lyonis River. Like every creature within a 20-mile radius of Nastron Cathedral, the necromancer is able to track and read minds, making sure they are obedient.
In total, Tai exchanged his five [Ankou] race ranks for fifteen [Calamity] race ranks; Each new benefit is more powerful than the last.
In addition to giving him an understanding of his true nature, these new levels grant him near-absolute domination over the undead, enhanced spellcasting, stronger defense against the gods, immense power, and control over large swaths of Nastron and its borders. These two cities have become an extension of his will, and he can even stop teleportation and summoning within his limits.
Unfortunately, his new form also comes at a price. That is, to the earthlings [Holy Weapon] and [Sin Eater] Pe
k.
"I can only recover HP and SP by consuming the corpse tainted by sin," Tay lamented. Although he has found a solution to use SP and HP to store rings or use the blood of his allies as fuel, this is a weakness that he can do without.
"Anti-tongue bird." Tai said, his inner whisper echoing through the room. "I'll listen to you next time."
The robber walked up to Tai with the confidence of a tiger, with a knife strapped to his waist and a black box in his hand. She breathes in the fog of Helheim with a scarf and is well aware of the effects of fog on people's health.
"I want something personal." Robin said, though the necromancer had read her request in her mind before she spoke.
Tay uses his power in the city to silence the sounds around them, which no one can hear except him and Harogan. "We".
"First of all, I like what you've done with this place," she replied, looking at the ruins. "I can use this."
This made Hagen find it funny. "Coins are coins, no matter where they come from?"
"Yes, but I'd rather be paid by the winning side," the criminal replied. "Judging by the latest news, your advantage is rising: King Siegfried died yesterday, some say because of illness, others because of the loss of all his children at once."
This made Ty stop. "The royal family of Avalon is extinct?"
"Yes."
Good. They will never again harm great causes.
"The capital is in chaos, and the chiefs have risen but can't agree on what to do." Robin said happily. As a black marketeer, the weaker the law, the more opportunities she has. "Some want to convene an assembly and establish a new king, some want to crusade against your graveyard, and others want to gain independence from Avalon and carve out their own realm. Orcs and marauders gathered near the borders of the kingdom, and sharks smelled blood in the water. β
"How's Calvert?" requirements; With the fall of the royal family, the evil archmage may be most likely to launch a crusade against his new homeland.
"He hasn't been seen since Siegfried died." Robin replied. "It's unpleasant, but even I can't find him. But this person is suspicious. β
"Don't say it," Tay said with a sneer.
"Everyone has a past," Robin said. "You, I, Durahan...... No matter how hard we try to cover up, if you try hard enough, you can always find something. "But as far as everyone knows, Calvert only appeared in the royal castle half a century ago, whispering advice to the king's ear. Maybe he's not a Midgardian at all. β
Asclepius may have known, though he had taken these secrets to the grave; The lich also said that his "co-workers" hadn't aged a single day since they met. Did the Archmage orchestrate this purge to cover up some of his knowledge of his own nature?
If so, Tai will dig them up. Calvert, though unconcerned about revenge, has already made his stance against the Brotherhood clear. He is a threat to great causes, so he must be eliminated. "Why are you telling me this?" The mighty undead ask the robin.
"I want to know what you're going to do next," the criminal replied. "Avalon is collapsing and its body will be fought for. Are you going to conquer it? Or are you going to watch?"
"I don't want to rule Midgard," replied Tay, whose truest wish was to study alone in peace. "But I have learned from the destruction of my orders and the repeated attacks on my dungeons. As long as my enemies are alive, they will not stop destroying me or sabotaging my work. β
Especially her, who has made it clear that she will never stop torturing him; Unlike Princess Gwen Haifa, her lifespan can be counted as centuries, if not hundreds of millions of years. If he can't kill her with his own hands, then the necromancer will break her rule over Midgard.
"His church, in particular, is non-negotiable, so it must be destroyed," Tye declared. Full of hope, their goddess will follow in time.
"Now that we have the strength on our side, offense is the best defense," Hagen agreed. "We must strike before the enemy regroups."
"I will strengthen the region and build a territory where the spirits of the dead and those who believe in great works can enjoy eternal life in peace," Tai explained his plan. And when this is done, the worshipers of the LORD will know how they have frightened me over the years. Their temples will be razed to the ground, and the undead will hunt them down to the ends of the earth. They don't feel safe in Helheim either. β
"Are you going to attack the kingdom of the undead?" The robin asks for confirmation, not so much scared as surprised.
"Some of my friends disappeared in Helheim during the reunion." Duke fell into a crack, and Sbuck's body was nowhere to be found. Thankfully, the border with Helheim is now thin, and necromancers can open the door to there at will. "My brother and the Lich Mentor have also been tortured there for decades. Because I cannot resurrect them with Nagelfa, I will resurrect their souls myself. β
"I have a thought in my head about the temples, sir," Hagen said. "Have you heard that the ghouls erected an altar for you in Odin's old temple?"
"I know," Ty replied, hearing their whispered prayers. "They're upgraded in the [pastor] class."
"You're a priest, chief." Hagen added.
"You can cast a spell and empower the priest?" Mockbird asked. This time, although she hid well, the necromancer could feel the surprise in her heart.
"yes, but I don't see any point." Tai doesn't consider himself a god and doesn't want to be a cult. Religious rituals are a manifestation of the vanity of the gods and nothing more. "I don't discourage people from taking these classes, but I also don't plan to change their beliefs."
Kuragan shrugged, a little disappointed. "I just want to say, what better way to break Hale's grip on Midgard than to replace her?"
"Through your actions, you create a vacuum that others will fill," Robin agreed. "If it weren't for you, it would be something else."
"You're implying that I'm their ally," Tai retorted. Trying to get rid of this label is the reason why he doesn't want to run a bloody cult anymore. "I'm not. We have common enemies, but that doesn't make us friends. β
"Strange, because Lord Medlaw does not think so," replied the robin, handing him the box, "I have received a gift to be delivered to your doorstep. Apologize and invite you to meet at the agreed place. β
She opened the container and showed the Lord of Nastron the horrific contents inside.
The head of the disgusted witch, frozen in fear. One of her eyes had been gouged out, and the ruby she had wielded was gone; Instead, it was replaced by a [Phylacte
y], this [Phylacte
y] trapped the witch's soul.
It seems that, like Tay, Medlaw did not accept the duplicity of his subordinates towards Laufey very well. This is his way of apologizing to the necromancer for the trouble he caused.
"Alright, I have a complete set now." The necromancer said, using telepathy to pick up the [Magic Book] and place it in a bag full of magic books. With the souls of those three witches, he could use their magic.
"So Medlot is Lancelot," Hagen mused. "Is the Knights of the Lake real?"
"Possessed by Mo

hyfa
Heard his last conversation with her before. Upon hearing the news, Tay felt infinitely relieved. He even made himself laugh like a child, and now he was not interfered with by the princess. "Medolot murdered the real Lancelot and mixed his flesh into the Royal Order as a mask"
"I've heard of this ability," robin said. "Only at the top of the Rocky cult"
Tay doesn't need to read her mind to understand what she means.
Medero works for the Calamity Legion, and if he can safely kill Loki's priestess, then he won't have to be cunning.
Now is the time for an open war.
It doesn't take a genius to understand the motivations of Medrut's new faith. The king took his family, so he killed his own family in return; Both legal and illegal, if Morgan's "destruction" is anything to suggest.
Medro called King Siegfried his brother, much to Thai's surprise. He heard the rumors, but ......
Why didn't his old friend come to see Tai after doing this horrible thing? He left Leonis in the middle of the rally, taking with him the bodies of Arthur and Gwen Shifar. Whether he intends to resurrect them as undead or hang their heads on the wall as trophies, the necromancer can only guess.
Maybe Tye was mistaken, but something in the device bothered him.
"Lord Medlaud's army occupied the Logres area." "They gathered an army of cultists, monsters, undead, and followers. I believe he intended to march into the capital and sack it. β
This is the last revenge on the kingdom that abandoned the Pale Serpents. Walter had no love for the city, but he preferred to avoid waking up all the Medrut victims after the trial was over. "I'll meet him soon," Tai announced. "As for you, robin...... Can I trust you to be on the right side?"
"I want eternal life," the robber said bluntly. "You can offer it to me, and if the end of the world comes, I will not be able to enjoy my riches."
"Clever. You have a future. β
"I still think you should fill the void," she insisted. "If only to prevent attacks on supply lines."
"Or at least secure the borders, Chief," Hagen agreed, "I'd rather avoid fending off the attacks of the goblins and the barbarians who worship Serin for decades to come." β
"Or, you can make peace with them, because they don't like Avalon," suggested the robin. "You've hired orcs, and the eastern tribes just want some of their lands back."
It's refreshing to meet someone who is morally flexible, Tay argues, just as Robin and Hagen openly refute the arguments.
It's much more enjoyable to hold all the cards.
After raising more than two hundred people, Tay decided to take a break and walk around the ruined Leonis, shrinking to his normal human appearance with a Transfiguration Charm. Although his strength did not wane, he suddenly felt so small in his old body.
Even now, in the days since the convergence, the poisonous fog of Helheim has not dissipated from the streets. Although the mist can penetrate the vision, it is a curse for the living, shortening their lifespan; If Tai hadn't invented the elixir, he wouldn't have done it.
In addition to allowing him to cast the first truly perfect resurrection spell (Naglfa
Tye's [Necromancer's Stone] can produce several pounds of synthetic elixir per day; The alchemist no longer relies on the Fountain of Life to produce his potions. Eternal life for all is finally within reach.
It is a pity that few people accepted his offer.
This is not to say that Tenon blames the citizens of Lyonis. For centuries, they have accepted death, been brainwashed, and seen him as a demon who destroyed their city, and therefore very cautious about him. But the necromancer is optimistic; To prove his kindness and the effects of the elixir will spread, more people will welcome the gift.
Mockingbird, the shrewd Chido-star once hinted that people would be afraid of free gifts, but would accept paid treatments...... Maybe she has a point. Tye agrees to a test to exchange the elixir for gold or service until the idea of immortality is accepted in the minds of mortals. Then, the necromancer will set it free.
At the same time, [Nagel's Method] proved to be a perfect spell. All it takes is a physical memento of the deceased to bring anyone back to life, even those who have been dead for years, or even centuries. The resurrected ones were not punished in any way. The only restriction is the [Necromancer's Stone], which is the magical focus required for the spell.
As he walked down the street, the undead entity walked towards his shop, taking a look around the area. Many of the undead occupied the houses destroyed by the convergence, mimicking their lost lives; Skeletons clear the storefront, ghouls roll dice in the tavern, and vampires take over the library. White rats occupy rooftops and sewers and will soon spread in the countryside. It's a mockery of the dark, undead of a normal city, but Tay prefers it that way.
Although Mrs. Soult had almost wiped out a large swarm of rats, it didn't matter if one rat survived. These critters are spreading throughout the city like a plague, and their numbers are increasing at a nightmarish rate.
Over time, Tay has come to realize that he has spread the undead as a [Calamity] being. Carcasses spontaneously rise in the area, and scavengers reproduce at an unusual rate. Perhaps, in time, no one in Midgard will die without being born again; Then his job would be much easier.
Eventually, Walter arrives at the shop he has repaired, opens the door, and finds a ghostly [Banshee] telepathic movement potion on the shelf.
"Good morning, master," Laufey's ghostly self said, emphasizing the feigned servility. "How are you doing today?"
"It's tiring," replied the alchemist, supervising the shelves. "Excellent work. Everything is symmetrical. β
"As you wish."
Truth be told, he prefers her bound elf image to a living Rotie.
As a sarcastic punishment for her betrayal, Tye puts the female demon in charge of repairing, cleaning, and reorganizing his shop. She once despised the peaceful life it represented, and now she wants to defend it. Centuries later, once the world has fully embraced eternal life and no longer needs gods, perhaps Tye will return there to sell potions.
"Good, I'm glad we don't have a rift," Tye said with a smile.
"I'm glad you're so lucky in love," Laufey replied in the same tone.
The necromancer left her to continue her work and moved to a shelter above him. Although the apartments were not used since he settled in Lyon, he allowed some to settle there, as most of the houses were destroyed.
He spotted Percy guarding the kitchen door and bowed. βM-M
γ aspects. "As soon as the Night's Watch saw the Lord of NastrΓ³n, he tensed up like a soldier facing a predator.
"I hope you don't hold back," Tye said, trying to make him relax. Unfortunately, Percy's house was destroyed during the reunion, but this necromancer was a good friend. "My home is small, but I hope it's enough."
"I ...... It's okay. The young man looked away, the presence of the necromancer unnerved him.
"I apologize for being killed, Percy." Tai said that it sounded a little strange when he said that. "Although there was no ill effect (of Nagel's law), Sbuke disobeyed my orders."
"I understand." Percy said, though he was only half-truths. "What about Sir Sigurd?"
"I hid his soul in [Phylacte
y], "Taylor admitted. "If he would rather die, I will either resurrect him or send him back to Valhalla. Now that the great work is done, I don't care about locking him up anymore. If you want to talk to him, I can summon his shadow. β
Of course, if he wishes to be resurrected, then Tye will ask the late Sigurd to take an oath; If the knight takes up arms against the undead again, the consequences will be fatal.
"I'd love to." Percy replied, a little worried, but still polite. Although [the Death Lord] frightened the squire, the fact that he was resurrected and treated well seemed to calm him down; Percy wanted to see the good things about this necromancer, which warmed Tai's heart.
"But what do you do once your old master has made his choice?" Tay, sensing the squire's insanity, asked. "I won't stop you from leaving the city, but you're welcome to stay if you wish. We are going to build a new Lyon, and I want you to be a citizen of it. β
The squire did not answer. He himself didn't know the answer.
"Tell Madame Cert that I would like to invite you both to dinner tomorrow after meeting an old friend." Tay said, glancing at the closed door. "Annie."
"She was inside, praying to the bald man." Percy confirmed. Just like the previous three days, Mrs. Selt had been asking questions of a god who was unwilling to answer. "I gave it to my wife, but she didn't eat it at all. But I'll tell her. β
The aspect sighed. "Percy, this is not an order. If you or Mrs. Sayr don't want to come, I won't force you. β
The squire didn't believe him.
Ty left Percy behind and moved to the next bedroom, where someone now lives. He knocked on the door once or twice, and went in without answering.
Anne lay on the dusty bed, curled up in a ball, like a wounded, depressed child.
"I want you to put it to good use," Tay said thoughtfully. "I never have."
She looked up at him and said nothing. This scene broke Tai's heart; It saddened him even more to see his cheerful protΓ©gΓ© so sad, and to see Madame Beater snubbing him. This reminded the necromancer of himself after Fenrir's children tore his parents to shreds.
"Annie, you're healed, and I make sure your family is evacuated when it collapses," the necromancer said. "You should be able to use magic to connect with them, or meet them."
"Yes," she finally spoke. "They fled to my aunt's territory and wanted me to join them."
"Then why don't you go?" Tye sat on the bed, but the witch stepped back a little, much to his displeasure. "Annie, it's still me. I haven't changed. β
"Are you already a necromancer?" She bit her lower lip. "When you taught me magic?"
nodded his head. "I assure you, I have no ulterior motives. You're a smart girl, Annie. You deserve a mentor. We had a great time, didn't we?"
"I don't think I knew who you were, Tate." Her voice was not so much hurt or angry as it was sad.
"If I told you I was an immortal, would you accept me?" He asked rhetorically. "I'm your friend, Anne. I have always been, and I will always be if you allow me. My feelings for you have nothing to do with my nature. β
"How's Wulong?" She asked suddenly. "Are you going to raise him too?"
"He dragged your friend who was still alive to Helheim, probably to use him against me." It is no coincidence that Haier kidnapped the organization's only earthlings after Tai developed a weakness for them. "I will work with my people to get him back."
βGwe

e ?β
"Even if someone brought me the body, I wouldn't bring Gwenhifa back to life." Tay replied coldly. "I gave her too many opportunities to leave. If she had tried so hard to get into Valhalla, she would have been trapped there. As for Morgan, I sent her to Hellheim, so I'll get her back with another friend of yours. β
She looked at him strangely, as if trying to figure out what he meant.
"I don't understand what you mean, Thai," said the witch. Thou hast slain the multitude, and hast raised them from the dead. Thou hast destroyed this city, but hast healed my demonic spirits: and now thou hast healed all that is upon thee, free of charge. β
"Is it so hard to believe that life isn't black and white?" The necromancer asked his disciples. "I'm not the bad guy in your story, Annie. I'm not a big bad guy like people say I'm going to be. I just want to create a world where there is no death. Is there something wrong with that? Do you want to die?"
"No, of course not," she replied, clearly confused by what had happened. "I don't want to fight with you either."
"You weren't forced."
"But...... You're a disaster, Tye. She said, with tears in her eyes. You are a threat to everyone. β
"The prophecy said I would turn on Ragnarok, but I didn't." Maybe that's why he didn't go up to level 100 like other disasters. "The truth is, I want to protect life, not destroy it. Of course, in my exploration, I buried some souls, but these are only means to an end. β
Although he didn't read Anne's mind out of politeness, Tay knew he was going to impress her. Anne is a kind, gentle girl; She saw the good things he did, and she wanted to be friends with him despite the fact that it conflicted with her education.
"Why don't you go back to your family, Annie?" Why did you stay?"
"I don't know," the witch admitted. "I don't know what I want anymore. The world doesn't make sense anymore. The dead will be resurrected, the gods will not answer prayers, my country no longer exists, and you are everything the Royal Academy trained me to fight. β
Tay silently watched her for a long minute, in pain.
"Annie, I remember what you told me," he finally spoke, "about your teleportation system. You say your mentor thinks it's too dangerous to try...... But what if you learn magic among people who are willing to take risks? If you were learning real magic, world-changing spells, not the God-censored magic that the Academy of Magic taught you?"
Anne frowned. "What does that mean?"
"I'm one of the last necromancers, and ...... Lonely. Tay admitted. While I possess great strength and longevity, I hope to spread my knowledge to others so that it can be perpetuated. "I used to be a member of a fraternity dedicated to pushing the boundaries of science and magic; Now that my strength is a bit solid, I'm going to restore it. I want you to be a part of the new White Snake. β
"You want an apprentice," Anne realized, her eyes widening in disbelief.
"If you still have reservations about staying with me, I can give you my notes before you leave Leonis," Tye said kindly, "I have jotted down most of my knowledge in case any knight is lucky." I can't think of anyone who can inherit this legacy but you. β
She seemed genuinely stunned by the offer. Maybe it was because Anne thought it was a bit weird to be his apprentice after all that had happened, or maybe it was because she knew that Tye's notes contained spells comparable to those of Archmage Calvert himself. Even if she decides to leave, the treasure trove of knowledge he provides is the purpose of her joining the Academy. The necromancer made her fully aware of his research, some of which might be used against him, which was a great trust in her, and she knew it.
But Tai guessed which side of her would win before she said that.
"I'm ......," Anne coughed, trying to make herself sound less interested. I wouldn't mind checking these notes. β
He had always admired her curiosity.
