Chapter XXIII; trust

Joe had a great day. It was an eye-opening experience to go shopping with Maggie in the morning. It reminded him that his girlfriend was very beautiful. He didn't forget. Even he's not that stupid. However, he had become so accustomed to her beautiful looks and stylish figure that he took it for granted and didn't really think about them. They now occupy the most important place in his mind, which makes it difficult for him to focus on anything other than her whenever Maggie is in the room. This wasn't a problem at all, as Joe didn't have anything important to do at all.

At some point, though, he began to realize that staring intently at the girl's face while she was doing her brain activity was a rude act and perhaps a little creepy. He knew well that she didn't mind the attitude, but he still felt a little embarrassed. When he doubts whether he is worthy of her, or if he is worthy of this incredible good fortune, doubts begin to arise in his heart. It's not just the house or her appearance, it's her personality. In the relentless battle of logic, Maggie has repeatedly shown that she genuinely cares about him. Of course, this made Joe very happy, but also a little guilty.

Sensing his doubts, the girl slowly opened her eyes and sat down on the edge of the bed where she usually sits.

"What's wrong, Joe?"

"Huh? What do you mean?"

"Your facial micro-expressions indicate that you are experiencing some internal conflict."

Just like Joe has a fairly in-depth knowledge of Maggie's character, and vice versa. She didn't need to read his mind to know what he was worried about. It's not that she's in the habit of snooping on his mind or anything. It would be rude to say nothing else.

"Oh." Nothing to worry about," he dodged the question. "I can't believe I'm such a good jam dodger."

The girl tilted her head in confusion, and Azgodkalar poked her head out of her hair, twisting its small body into the shape of a question mark.

"How did you end up with a shortbread cookie with jam?"

"Hmm...... I...... Don't know what cookies, Maggie. "It's just me and the lads calling each other lucky bastards. From some old fantasy game. ”

"I see," there was a glint of understanding in her eyes. "And, I need Jammy Dodge now

s。 ”

"You mean cookies?"

"Yes. I think they go well with the tea of the Gives. ”

"Oh. That sounds really good. Do you want me to go to the store and buy some?"

He had never heard of this biscuit before, but the convenience store on the street had a wide variety of pastries and treats. Even if they don't have a particular jam dodger, he's sure to find something close enough. Alternatively, he could have a robot butler handle it, but the talking device wasn't good at anything that needed to be thought about.

"I'll be grateful," she smiled happily.

"Starberry-flavored, right?"

"Undoubtedly".

Joe stood up, put on his new jacket, and went about his mission with his own smile. It feels good to do something for his girlfriend, even if it's a trivial gesture. It was only when he took the elevator down the stairs that he realized how stupid his fears were. After that unforgettable first kiss showed how much he meant to Maggie, it would be foolish to think that he wasn't worthy of Maggie. Idle thoughts would always get ugly for no reason, so he decided to find something else to do as soon as he got back instead of staring blankly at the girl's face.

As he stepped out of the elevator and through the skyscraper's relatively spacious lobby, Joe was surprised to see Agent Johnson. In fact, it was her state that surprised him more precisely. She was dressed in uniform as usual, but her overalls were too dirty, and two guarded drones flew at her feet. Whenever the woman's forehead hits the wall, these little spider-like robots frantically pick up the dirt and dry mud that falls from her. By the way, for the past five minutes, she has done this every two or three seconds.

"AJ?" he shouted at her. Are you alright?"

The tainted soldier stopped her skull thump and looked at Joe, the expression on her face suggesting that she wasn't actually well.

"I'm going to live," she said dryly.

"No, really, what's going on?" You look terrible. In many ways. ”

Even though she was physically and mentally exhausted, she couldn't just deny Joe's genuine concern. She sighed and collapsed against the wall, forcing the guard's drone to slip away in a panic.

"I can't stand that witch anymore. Seriously, what's going on with her? She no longer plays the role of a strong soldier.

"Well, she's a bit harsh at timesβ€”"

"How dare you say she has good intentions!" AJ snapped. "It's abuse!" Bully! Torture! Nothing else!"

"Wow! Simple now. Why don't you stand up and tell me what makes you so nervous?"

"It's this!"

She shouted as she threw something into the empty hall. It was a fist-sized stone, rolling around on the floor with a rattling sound. Joe couldn't make out of it, but it read "Mahras Rak Observer" in an alien language. AJ couldn't read it, but she thought it was the stone she deserved because the other two stones she found had "Maggie" and "Mags Oh" written in plain English. Realizing that she was facing not one, but two baits without prior notice, annoyed her considerably. Her anger quickly turned to panic when she saw one of the janitor robots swooping down on the filth, no doubt intending to take it somewhere. Luckily, she telepathically pulled the stone out of it.

Joe leaned down and looked carefully at the stone in her hand, noticing the alien's handwriting. He didn't know what the symbols meant, but they looked familiar, and he recognized them as Maggie's work. Presumably, he realizes that she must have sent AJ to find the stone, which, judging by her filthy exhaustion, is buried somewhere in a nearby park. The soldier's frustration is more justified, but her outburst still seems to be an overreaction. This assignment doesn't seem to be more strenuous than usual.

This, by the way, also means that to some extent he accepted the phrase "laborious" as "usual".

"Ah," he realized. "Well, well, I think I get it now."

"What do you get? The woman glared at him.

"Maggie is too you. I'm going to talk to her when I get back, so you might as well go up and clean yourself." ”

He expects AJ to smile, or breathe a sigh of relief, or something like that.

β€œUghhh……”

All he heard was a shout, so painful that he almost thought she was passing kidney stones or something.

"What? Don't you want me to do that? He asked, confused.

"Nope. I'm grateful, but I can't take the stairs. I'm sorry, no, I mean, I have to take the stairs. ”

β€œβ€¦β€¦ Do we have stairs?"

The soldier blinked incredulously, then pointed to a small glass door at the back of the hall, right next to the elevator. Behind it can be seen a depressing row of steps.

"Give me a bread box, we have the stairs!" He exclaimed, but his surprise quickly turned to fear. "Wait, there's more than a hundred floors from here to the apartment!" Do you really have to climb that high?"

"I really don't want to, but I don't have a choice. I was told that I couldn't use any mechanical or electronic devices until I returned this stupid thing. She shook the stone for emphasis.

"No way. Did you misunderstand Maggie's instructions? You can at least take the elevator. ”

"I specifically asked if I could. Guess what she said?"

Joe took a deep breath and reached for AJ.

"Come on, this floor is not a lady's place."

She let out a laugh. The short man offered to help her get back on her feet? Well, he meant well, so she gracefully accepted the gesture and asked him to do his best to lift her up. However, instead of letting go, he dragged her to the back of the hall. AJ followed at first, but stopped when she realized they were heading towards the elevator.

"What do you think you're doing?"

"I'm going to take you to see Maggie," he said. "It's time for you and I to talk about the way she treats you."

"Are you crazy?" Do you know how stupid this is?"

"It may be stupid, but it's the right thing to do."

"I might lose my job!" Or worse!"

"I'm pretty sure climbing stairs all day isn't part of your job."

"No, but obedience is, and my task is to cooperate with the witch as much as possible."

"Cooperation is a two-way street, isn't it?"

"Y-that-but-"

Agent Johnson didn't know how to respond, mainly because Joe had a point. At least from her point of view, what she experienced was a kind of marginal servitude.

"It's going to be fine, trust me," he reassured her. "Maggie is softer than you think."

"I deeply doubt it."

"And, it's not just about yourself. It's about her. Her recent behavior ...... A little off. ”

Joe couldn't tell what was going on, but he felt that in terms of humanity as a whole, the girl seemed to be regressing rather than improving. She still has a smile and a cosmic butterfly on her face when it's just the two of them, but her attitude towards others is strangely harsh and harsh. Even today, for no apparent reason, she gets angry at the clerk at the clothing store "Jelly" and then shows strange suspicion of the lady who sells fish and chips. In some ways, it seemed as if she was back to a month ago, when she was still trying to understand most human emotions. Something must have happened in the last few days that caused this, but Joe couldn't think of anything that could justify this negative change.

"Alright, let's get started." AJ relented.

She knew better than anyone that if the severity of the "experiment" continued to increase, she wouldn't last long. She had reservations, but sooner or later she had to do something, and this was the perfect opportunity. In addition, she plans to let Joe go to appease the students of Class 3 on her behalf. Last but not least, she felt like she'd want to throw up if she saw that damn stairwell again. When Joe spotted her, she was banging her head against the wall, which is why she was ready for the challenge.

"For the record, I still think it's a stupid idea," she added.

"Yes, definitely. I came up with it. ”

AJ laughed again and followed him into the elevator. On the ascent, things get a little awkward, as they both realize that the soldier smells of sweat and dirt. Joe tried not to take it seriously, but he wasn't used to the stench and ended up coughing once or twice. This, in turn, made Johnson more self-conscious.

"By the way, you look good in that jacket." She tried to distract him.

"Thank you. Actually, I just got it. He wisely avoided mentioning Maggie.

"Really? From where?"

"A place called Owen, Owen & Owen, in a shopping mall, two skyscrapers downstairs"

"You mean the one with the big blue diamond sign?"

"Yes."

"Hmm. That's what it's all about. ”

"You don't know?"

"Well, I'm not familiar with this area yet."

"Good."

"So, what kind of clothes does this store sell?"

"All types. Clothing, casual wear, swimsuits, formal wear – you name it, they have it all. ”

"Hmm. It's good to know that. ”

AJ has given up on showing up on appointments. Because she had put herself through so many delays, she only had about an hour before Maloney came to pick her up. Even if she didn't have to climb those stupid stairs anymore, she wouldn't have enough time to be fully prepared. If she hadn't been banned from using any electronics, she would have canceled it long ago. However, if a clothing store is that close to here, there's a good chance she'll barely make it, depending on the outcome of this standoff.

Unfortunately, it didn't go well at first. As soon as Joe and AJ entered the apartment, the hostess came out to greet them in the hallway. The indifferent expression on her face indicated that she was angry.

"Maggie, we need to talk." The man said solemnly.

"About what? She squinted at him.

"Your performance these days. This worries me. Also, I think you should be less disciplined with AJ. ”

"I see," her expression relaxed a little. "I'd love to hear what you have to say, but I must fulfill my obligations first."

The girl raised a finger to point at both of them, then pointed to her left hand with minimal movements. The ginger woman behind Joe immediately slammed into the wall in response. The force of the impact squeezed air out of her lungs, and the constant pressure made it difficult for her to breathe. The man looked at her and Maggie with a gaze of disbelief that bordered on madness. Although he expected things to get a little dangerous, he didn't expect the situation to immediately turn violent.

"Damn it, Maggie!" What is it – hey! Let go of me!"

Joe's grumbling was cut off as he was hoisted into the air and floated out the front door, away from the other two. Maggie clung to him and didn't get in his way, but not enough to do damage.

"It's not like you, Maggie!" He pleaded.

"Agent Johnson blatantly, willingly, and willfully ignored my instructions," she replied coldly. "I'm just doing my job."

The defendant could do nothing but giggle incoherently under the pressure of a third-level psychic telepathy ability. She desperately tried to resist, but the sudden turn of events left her mind confused and unable to concentrate. The little spiritual energy she could accumulate could only barely keep herself from being squashed. It is impossible to break free.

"But the instructions you gave her were completely insane!" Joe shouted into the front door. "At first I thought AJ was exaggerating when she said you bullied her, but that's even worse! Take it seriously! I don't know what's wrong with you, but it's not you!"

His attempts to convince the girl backfired, causing her calm expression to suddenly turn into an exasperated frown, and she grabbed the psyker even tighter.

"You're so bold to think you know the real me." She scoffed, her eyes fixed on the psyker.

"Alright! I admit that the whole cosmic entity thing is too difficult for me to understand! However, I know that the girl I am in love with will never impose this senseless cruelty on another person!"

The words stung her deeply, and she closed her eyes tightly and gritted her teeth. Her head slammed towards Joe, an angry expression on her face, much harsher than ever.

"I don't like the way she looks at you!"

Joe understood this, and seven different expressions changed on his face.

"You...... Jealous AJ?"

"Yes, I am. I know exactly how illogical it is, but I still can't control how I feel. Whenever I see the two of you together, I feel contempt. Despite my best efforts, it was hard to control that emotion. ”

In fact, she had no intention of forcing the agent to climb the stairs. When she gave the assignment, her exact words were that Johnson was not allowed to use any electronic devices that would help her find the stone. This implicitly excludes the elevator because vertical movement is irrelevant to the task at hand. However, when the lady asked for a definitive clarification on the matter, Maggie's jealous side temporarily took over, so it was really forbidden to use the elevator. The girl never breaks her word, so she can't do anything, even though she later realizes that she is too psykers.

She actually wanted to apologize, but her resentment surged when she saw AJ walk in with Joe, and as she said, she struggled to keep it under control.

"It's not like that," the struggling soldier barely squeezed out.

"Y-yes! We're just friends! Men supported her.

"You're friends now, but what about a month from now?" Or a year? People are getting fond of you, Joe. Like an invading carnivorous fungus, you'll inevitably end up in her heart!"

The man was hurt by those words. Maggie's metaphor is disturbing, and the slightly insulting nature is hurtful, but more hurtful than the meaning behind it.

"So you don't trust me, do you?" He asked.

"I ...... No, no," her voice grew sad. "You are gullible, optimistic, naΓ―ve. I will be eternally grateful that you have so easily let someone like me into your life and mind. At the same time, that's exactly why another person might burrow in and replace me, regardless of my intentions. ”

As usual, it's hard to argue with her assessment. It's not because of too many superfluous soap operas, but because she's learning more and more about how fickle the human heart is. People change over time, and so do their relationships. Friends forget each other, enemies forgive each other, lovers drift apart, and acquaintances become closer. It's not always like this, but it happens a lot. At the moment, there is a strong bond between Joe and Maggie, which is exactly why the girl is worried about what will happen.

The man could only guess at the depth and severity of her worries. Luckily, he was very good at reading between the lines and managing to grasp the gist of it.

"Then give me a chance. If you don't ask me to prove myself, how can you say you believe me or not? It sounds like you've decided something about me yourself, didn't you say you wouldn't do it again?"

Joe knows how to argue with Maggie. Despite her efforts to become more human, she is ultimately a logical creature who insists that her "obligations" are above all else. One of them was to involve Joe in all the decisions that affected the two of them, which she promised to do after she unilaterally chose to let them live together in this apartment. It's a bit doubtful that her attitude toward whether Joe is trustworthy or not has an impact on this. The guy was crushing at a lifeline, and he knew it himself.

β€œβ€¦β€¦ Looks like I'm mistaken. ”

Fortunately, the girl seems to be convinced by this argument.

"Good, Joe Mulligan. I'm going to let you prove your ability to remain loyal without my supervision. ”

She let go of the man and loosened her grip on the psyker.

"So, you're not jealous anymore?" He asked cautiously.

"Of course, I am. Like I said, I can't control my feelings," she frowned. "I can only apologize and ask for forgiveness."

"This ...... Fair enough, I guess. But if that's the case, shouldn't you give up AJ?"

The woman can now breathe freely, but she is still firmly nailed to the wall.

"Why would I do that?" The girl asked.

"It's not...... I mean, you just saidβ€”"

"That's another story," she interrupted him. "I admit that my personal feelings have caused me to be unfair to her, but it is her own responsibility that Agent Johnson failed to fulfill her obligations. Appropriate punishment must be given. ”

"What kind of punishment?" The woman asked warily.

"By taking the elevator, you save about 130 minutes of vertical travel. It is enough to spend the same amount of time on telepathic levitation. ”

AJ felt it was unfair because Maggie admitted she was wrong, especially since it meant that she would definitely miss the date. It's regrettable, but it's not the end of the world. Officer Maloney certainly wouldn't mind rescheduling. The problem is, doing it so late makes a bad impression, especially since this psyker can only blame her own little eye. In fact, no, that's not true. Maggie is the culprit of all her recent misfortunes. Eventually, there was a worse punishment than two hours of confinement, so she decided not to push this particular issue.

However, there was one more thing that the annoyed soldier couldn't help but bring up.

"But why do you keep riding my ass?" I'm not referring to today, but in general. ”

"I don't understand what you're talking about, Agent Johnson."

"You've been bothering me ever since we spied on you. Starting with those winks that no one can see, and then you ask me to move in with you so you can let me do these ridiculous experiments. "Seriously, you can't tell me that counting the grains of sand in an hourglass or sharpening wood into a toothpick is to help my psionic energy."

It's ridiculous to think that jealousy is the root cause of all harassment, as AJ and Joe didn't even exchange a word after the "Doom Pact" had already been signed.

"Actually," Maggie reproached her. "I realize that your biggest flaw as a psyker is your narrow way of thinking. If you use telepathy or telepathy, all the tasks I give you will become insignificant, but you stubbornly use only physical means. ”

That thinking isn't AJ's fault. This was actually what the paranormal expulsion agency had ingrained in her mind as a security measure. All power is corrupted, and psionic power is unlike any other. Allowing them to flaunt their talents in their daily lives can lead them to a dangerous notion that they are somehow superior to other humans and that they deserve to be in power. Because of this tendency, the CIA wanted to avoid a defection of their psychooperatives, so it actively discouraged them from using their abilities rashly. It instills in them the notion that psionic energy can only be used as a last resort after all other means have been exhausted, except for battle scenarios. Agent Johnson proved to be exceptionally gifted at a very young age, which is why her coach must have cramped that mindset into her head. As a result, she became a good, obedient, and hardworking soldier, but it also made her very stubborn in some ways.

"My experiments are meant to broaden your way of thinking," Maggie added.

"Can't you have told me sooner?!" AJ raised his voice.

"You have to get your own revelation in order for it to have proper meaning. Doing anything other than skillfully guiding you towards enlightenment will do you great harm. ”

The fact that the woman found the stone in less than a day shows that this unspoken lesson has begun to sink into people's hearts, which is why Maggie is now telling her all this. If she had known of Maloney's involvement, she would have changed her tune. However, she doesn't know everything. She mistakenly thinks that everything is going according to plan, which is why she is complacent. Her "disciples" were not friendly to this attitude.

"What's going on with those damn blinks?" What's the point of that?!"

The girl's smug smile grew brighter, and AJ hadn't seen her giggle in a long time. For the first few weeks, she always had that-eating smile on her face. She exclaimed, "You're so pathetic, so cute."

"I think your flustered reaction to my stimuli is the most interesting."

In other words, as Johnson suspects, she likes to watch her cramped. The agent didn't handle the confirmation very well, and if the sentence had been said in a different way, or in a more amicable situation, she might have taken it in stride, maybe she would have triumphantly said "I knew!" That's not the case. AJ is squeezed out mentally, physically, and emotionally. Her brain and bones ached from the unfounded telepathic assault she had just made, and her mind was clouded by all the frustrations she had accumulated during this mission. This seemingly innocent but distinctly mocking admission pales in comparison to all the pressure she was under, but it was enough.

It was a figurative straw that made Agent Johnson furious.

"Woman!"

AJ's foul mouth is punctuated by a force that frees her from Maggie's grasp, and in the process, she nearly knocks the wall down. She lunged at the stunned girl and punched her in the face with her right hand, only to slam her fist into an invisible wall. A second later, a concentrated torrent of anger followed. The psionic energy pierced through the barrier and hit Maggie right in, knocking her to the other end of the hallway. The force caused the building to shake with an ominous rumbling sound and shatter the decorative furniture and floor tiles. Joe tried to run in to stop the furious psychic energy, but an unseen hand slammed the front door shut, locking him out of what was about to happen.

"I'm fed up with you self-righteous bastard!"

The soldier completely lost his mind and grabbed Maggie by the shoulder. Once again, her accumulated frustration exploded with great force, knocking them both into the living room. AJ then kicked the girl in the stomach with his knee, causing her to fly instantly, and then punched the girl in the face with a backhand. The telepathic energy that permeates the blow causes the girl to roll around the room until she hits the huge TV screen, shattering it in a spectacular way.

The sound of shattering glass and sparks flying everywhere instantly brought the rampaging psyker back to consciousness. She gasped for breath, unable to believe what had just happened. It's not just her onslaught, but also the fact that she's able to toss a Level 3 entity around like a rag doll, though it does resist. Her chaotic thoughts came to an abrupt halt when she saw Maggie stand up, covered in bruises and bruises, but still had that damn smirk on her lips.

"Is this your best work?"

This vitriolic taunt was enough to ignite the embers of AJ's anger.

"Pretentious sycophants!"

As she slammed Maggie against the wall from the side, verbal abuse and psionic energy flowed freely.

"Your tits are fake, your character is bullshit"

Her next attack shattered it all once and for all, and the girl fell to the next bedroom, and the entire floor shook ominously again. The soldier's output was so high that both she and the military personnel monitoring the readings of her implants were shocked.

"Don't look at me peeing!" I can see it!"

As silly as the idea may seem, pouring her frustration, resentment, and anger into her psychic telesensing allowed her to exert more power than usual. She further proves this by slamming Maggie to the floor with an invisible hammer that is roughly the size and weight of an overloaded garbage truck.

"Don't be so complacent about everything, you cosmic generalist!"

AJ doesn't know how this happened. In fact, it goes against everything she learned at the academy.

"Stop talking big talk!" They won't make you sound smart!"

A clear and focused mind is necessary to demonstrate psionic abilities with any degree of power or control. That's what people told her, and so far, it's worked for her.

"Someone ate the Starberry Pi I kept in the fridge!" I know you did it!"

However, when she throws Maggie out of the window, AJ quickly remembers another aspect of her mental powers. That is, psychic feedback. It was a kind of retreat that she had put so much effort into such a short period of time. Her vision darkened, her ears let out a maddening scream, her muscles tightened involuntarily, and her stomach felt like it was doing a backflip. She experienced a series of very unpleasant symptoms from head to toe, but the most obvious was that her brain was in danger of flowing out of her skull from her ears and nose. The ensuing bouts of pain caused the woman to fall to the ground, screaming in pain while clutching the top of her head. This extreme reaction is highly likely to kill her at worst and damage her brain at best.

AJ's mental stress began to diminish rapidly. It and all her other aches and pains gave way to another, far less unpleasant feeling. Her tormented head rested against something, it was cool and warm, but at the same time undeniably soft. It can't be a floor here. As her vision gradually returned, it was clear that her skull lay on the pale skin of Maggie's thighs, exposed as her clothes were torn to shreds. One of the girl's hands gently stroked the woman's forehead, and the other gently grasped her skull. A friendly smile hung on her thin lips, and a warm glow seemed to radiate from her swirling eyes.

"Welcome, Sarah Johnson," she said calmly, "to the moment when you reveal the secrets. ”

The woman's gaze flicked between Maggie and the Maggie-shaped hole in the shatterproof glass.

"Don't have anything to do with me," the girl reassured her. "To make me incapacitated, even when I am physically weak, is not just unconscious."

β€œDefe

e-whatsit ?”

"Throw out the window. Formal. The act of throwing someone out of a window. ”

AJ was very surprised to find that there was a word to describe this, but it wasn't the only shocking news she'd gotten in the last few minutes.

"That's the reason for all this abuse and harassment, isn't it?" She asked weakly.

"So."

"Damn it. I'll never finish listening. ”

There was nothing the woman could do but complain in her failures. She felt like she was being toyed with like a violin, and what made her even more unpleasant was that it was all orchestrated by a cosmic entity that would not deceive. In fact, Maggie never lied to her once. She simply remained silent about the true nature of her experiments, leaving AJ's prejudices and personality to do the rest. This behavior clearly violates the cosmic law that keeps Level 3 students brutally honest, but the excuse for "keeping obligations" is powerful.

As for the outcome, the agent wasn't quite sure what was going on. Somehow, she subconsciously exploited her anger and hatred in order to use them as weapons. AJ's thoughts drifted to the two rogue psionics she had met in the past. Both of these lunatics showed great strength, although they had no formal training and were not implanted in their brains. Before, she just thought it was their extraordinary talent that drove them crazy, but now she felt that it might be the other way around. If abandoning reason and succumbing to her instincts would give her such a big boost, a complete escape from the abyss would surely have had even more striking results.

Of course, she doesn't intend to be a gibberish madman with a fragile grasp of reality at best. She also doesn't have any state to analyze her emotional outbursts in depth. She would leave it to the people monitoring her condition to find out the exact science and mechanism behind the phenomenon. At this moment, she just held back the feeling of venting her anger, hoping that she could consciously vent again. Her heart calmed down again, and she stood up. Maggie gracefully suppressed psionic feedback, and the only negative effects AJ felt were brief shortness of breath and a bout of exhaustion.

However, she had a hunch that her purse would not be able to withstand the long-term consequences of her actions. Looking around and seeing the devastation left behind her, the soldier had a foreboding feeling that all the damage she had caused would be paid for by her salary. Considering the relative luxury and dΓ©cor of the apartment, it is likely that she will have to serve Her Majesty until she is 510 years old before she can pay off the money.

"Sorry for making a mess." She muttered.

"Well, yes," Maggie said, a little confused. "Since you mentioned it, the property damage was beyond my expectations, as you expected. I'll fix it. ”

AJ felt a familiar tingling in her brain that told her that psionic activity in the area was surging. Facing the person in front of her, she wisely closed her eyes and turned to leave the third class. She heard all sorts of scraping, crashing, crashing, and clanging sounds, with the occasional gust of air and debris smashing down on her. It took almost a minute for the situation to calm down completely.

"Done."

When psionic opened her eyes again, she saw that the bedroom had been reassembled as if nothing had happened. She didn't even need to look at the other rooms to make sure they were being treated in roughly the same way.

"So, uh, what now?" She asked warily.

"Your first phase of training is complete. I give you three days to fully recover, after which we will continue with the second phase of treatment. ”

"Hey. That's great. She shouted. Let me guess, is it a more tedious, sluggish task?"

"I have no right to discuss my plans with you. Understand that they will reduce their potency," Maggie said bluntly.

"Can you at least tell me that you won't bother me anymore?"

"I do confirm that Phase 2 won't put me on your back, either metaphorically or literally."

"That'...... I hope it's a good thing. ”

This strange wording fills AJ with suspicion, but she doesn't intend to nitpick about the gift. Whatever the "second stage" needed to do, she was free for the next few days, in fact, immediately. This includes the next few hours, which means she still has a chance to make it. She'd be exhausted to death and had been battling the rush of fainting, but she was confident she could get through. She just needed a little help with her preparation, and she had a hunch that the third class would be willing to help.

"So, I need a favor from you. There are no deals or agreements, just one-sided requirements. ”

"At least I'll hear you finish," Maggie said with a smile.

"You don't have a dress to borrow me, do you?"

"I do have a piece of clothing that you can wear, although it doesn't quite fit your chest."

AJ's eyes twitched in an inadvertent attack on her bust, but she kept the stimulation down. Now is neither the time nor the place to perform again. In addition, she later used it as "ammunition".

"So, can I ask you to give it a makeover to make it fit better?" It's an emergency. ”

Maggie frowned in confusion.

"What emergency warrants formal attire?"

"I ...... There's actually a date. "About 50 minutes later. Officer Maloney was going to take me to see Leonardo da Pinch, and I had to dress like a character. ”

The girl's eyes widened in surprise, indicating that she didn't know anything. Then she raised a hand and covered her mouth in embarrassment as she noticed what AJ had subtly put down. If Maggie had a man of her own to occupy her mind, she wouldn't have to be jealous of that psyker. It was an obvious solution, and she was really sad that she hadn't thought of it. That being said, she doesn't plan to let this opportunity slip away. Therefore, she fully supports the lady. The requested clothes were modified accordingly and handed over in less than a minute. AJ took it into the bathroom, locked himself inside, and started cleaning.

It was at this time that Maggie finally let Joe into the apartment.

"What's going on?!Are you okay?!"

The man's panic was understandable. Since the place was soundproofed, he didn't hear much from outside, but he still felt some worrisome tremors.

"Thank you for your concern, but it's not necessary," she said in her usual words.

"No need! Look at you!"

Although Maggie patched up her casual attire, many cuts and bruises were still visible on her face and in the cracks on her thighs. Joe could tell right away that even though the interior of the apartment looked intact, things had become very violent.

"These wounds are negligible and easy to repair. I'll take care of them right away. ”

She stepped forward and pulled the panicked man into a passionate kiss. He didn't resist, but the sudden move made his arm shake a little. The man felt something come out of his throat and into Maggie's body. A few seconds later, when she pulled it back, she was completely healed, and Joe was just a little dizzy. He suddenly finds himself wishing Maggie would eat more cold leftovers, but he chases away the suspicious idea and turns to a more pressing issue.

"Where's AJ?!"

"She's cleaning up and getting ready for her appointment."

She ...... What?"

"She's cleaning up and getting ready for the date," Maggie politely repeated.

β€œβ€¦β€¦ Is it with Officer Maloney?"

"Do you know about this?" The girl blinked in surprise.

"No, just speculation."

He thought it must be someone who knew both of them, and that the policeman was undoubtedly the most suitable bachelor in the group. Somewhat strangely, they decide to go out together despite the fact that their last meeting turned violent. Not that Joe is qualified to comment on the strange way of starting a romantic relationship. He just wondered if that's how AJ made friends. Of course, this is a stupid idea.

However, judging by the joy and optimism she had by Maggie's side from that day on, it seemed that this was indeed the case.
