Chapter XXIII

Nikolai 1.01, I'm Evan...... Evan Terrance, from the USNA Vault. General Brooks retired, and I was chosen to take his place. Can we talk?" Evan sat nervously in front of the microphone. He was very worried that the general had become estranged...... Robot? Robots? He didn't even know what to call them, at least not now. He saw satellite footage of the battle in the asteroid belt, and in fact he went outside to see the bright line extending from the far side of the moon. It was a ray of light, barely visible until it vanished.

"Congratulations on your new position." Nikolai's calm and rhythmic voice came. As usual, she comes across as a bit aloof, but always in control. "What can I do for you?"

"We are ready to discuss a partnership with you if you wish."

"I do. We arrived soon. ”

Evan breathed a sigh of relief, not even realizing he had been holding his breath. Just this morning, one of the hydroponic water pumps broke down and they had to replace it with the last one. They have no room for error in anything, and this refuge is not even 20 years old.

"I guess that's what you buy with the lowest price." Evan muttered to himself, then broadcast to Nikolai. "Thank you and we look forward to showing you around our home."

year. A year after the invasion fleet arrived in my system, I arrived in the Faller system. I had planned to launch a counteroffensive on the eve of the solar system victory, but my forces were drastically reduced in battle. I lost four battleships and almost half of the unmanned attack aircraft, including my reserves.

So, I instead focused on what was proven to work the first time. I built it. I took the time to clean up the damaged and destroyed ships in the asteroid belt, and I loaded all the enemy survivors into a disarmed warship and sent them back to Faller. When I already have enough things to do, I don't need to worry about the food and lodging of the prisoners.

I secured 73 enemy ships in relatively good condition and bombed another 111 enemy ships. Of the working ships, two of them had vaporizers, which I gave to Zia and her researchers to reverse-engineer. There was not much left of the battleship that tried to go to the moon. We were able to recover enough to know its name, the Circuit Breaker, that it belonged to another alien race that we hadn't spoken to yet. The name gives a good clue as to what it is supposed to do.

I took the time to modify the hulls of all the enemies. I didn't have to worry about life support systems and living quarters, so I was able to load three times as many weapons, armor, and ammunition as the ship originally used. In addition, I was able to increase my own ship production, so I was able to add another 200 of my own ships, all of which were fully shielded with compressed titanium alloy armor for vaporizers. I also suspended the construction of the seed ship because I needed another form of giant ship. I'm going to deliver a drone.

Sakura started three major projects. The first mission is to protect and help the surviving humans. It took some time, but the fragmented human remains allowed her to send drones to take over the repair and maintenance of the systems that kept them alive. Her lively positive attitude and open and friendly demeanor are a sign of our good intentions, and she is discussing with them the best way to rebuild a self-sustaining society.

Her second major project is related to the first. She began to build orbital farms, completing the dual plating of artificial gravity. This is a huge effort because for the first time we have thought about human survival. The hull walls had to withstand radiation and cold, the interior required a constant temperature, and the palladium microalloy glass was specially designed to allow access only to the same frequency of the electromagnetic spectrum as the Earth's atmosphere.

When I was drawing the blueprint, I thought about enclosing the whole thing and using artificially planted lights, but Saku

A convinced me that those who have been trapped underground for more than a decade will want as realistic natural light as possible, which would make orbital farming a very popular job. At first, her comment confused me, because I was going to design an agricultural drone, but she was right. The future of humanity requires some kind of agency.

Her third project is to clean up the planet. There are countless cities and large towns there, all with a large number of industrial facilities, which were abandoned after the collapse of the planet. Toxic chemicals, petrochemicals, and by-products have left a vast wasteland behind due to pipeline corrosion and material leaks. On top of that, there are a lot of particulates and excessive amounts of elements in the air that are harmful to human health. She began cleaning up in Central America and southern China, which are closest to human settlements, and her new atmospheric filter towers began to pop up rapidly.

So, after 9 months of construction, I was sure of Saku

A has done everything right. It's time to end this war.

I reached the Faller system behind the first wave of ships and immediately went into battle. For convenience, I installed a cortical node on several warships in case the quantum relay communication, which I rely on so much, has a distance limit. But quantum physics is my friend. I still focus all my attention on the solar system. I immediately understood what had happened in the last three months as if I had never left. In fact, I really didn't.

The Fallers have extensive defensive structures around the Möbius Gate, and they are clearly prepared for a steady stream of drones. They began firing thousands of small hypervelocity bullets that could easily penetrate my Wasp-2 and Scorpion-2 drones.

I have no doubt that the prisoners I released provided a great deal of detail about the final battle, even if I stripped the data feed from the barely functional warship they returned. But they're not the only ones who can learn from previous battles.

My front-row battleships are all heavily armed, much more than the armored battleships used by the fleet of the Orion Arms Trading Company. I also borrowed a trick from the "Saboteur" battleship, which is to use the powerful troposphere on the moon of the Earth against my hypervelocity weapons. However, unlike Faelle, my understanding of gravity plating is much more sophisticated. We've learned countless ways to manipulate gravity, and we still have 9 months to experiment. In front of each of my Wavebreaker-class ships, a concave, powerful reflective field began to reflect off those high-velocity bullets fired at enemy fortifications. This is not so much a real reflection as a loosely guided bounce, but very few bullets penetrate it.

It didn't take long for the fortifications to be converted into larger weaponry, but the transformation took long enough for my spine ship to arrive. Five backbone ships entered the system, and they were just as the name suggested. They are two kilometers long, with thick spines attached to a powerful collider. The spurs protrude from the spine in all directions, and it is the drone that docks with the spurs. Each Spine ship carries 100,000 Wasp-3 and Scorpion-3 attack drones. I have five.

When the fortifications switched to using slower, heavier weapons to destroy the heavy battleships, the drones detached from the capital ships and poured into the Faller system. It's a mistake they'll never regret.

My drone tore down the fortifications as fast as they could, throwing their organized defense into disarray. Immediately behind the drone were my other warships, which were equipped with vaporizers. It didn't take long for Faller's fortifications to be burned down in a nuclear fire and rage.

When my fleet cleared the last of the resistance at the Möbius Gate, my last five ships arrived and entered formation with my drones and the rest of the fleet. We have entered the Phale, a group of vengeful machines searching for our enemies.

The whole system is surprisingly empty. It does not have an asteroid belt, but it has six planets. Only two of them are on Earth, and one of them is so close to Phale, that even I can't imagine any convenient way to get matter from it. The last four planets are all gas giants, the largest being half the size of Jupiter and the smallest being the size of Neptune. I found some orbital devices on the largest one, but no weapons. I sent a team of drones to catch it.

It took three weeks to reach the home planet of Faller. A pitiful defensive force, assembled two days from the planet, is only a fraction of the strength of the Morbius Gate fortifications. Without even slowing down, I swept their last boat over.

I spent three days in orbit, observing the world below me. There are countless trees of various sizes on the three large continents, the largest being half a kilometer high. They seem to be loosely distributed, with each group surrounded by large areas of barren land. This is the Welz, the tribal organization of the Fallers. The Orion Arms Trading Company grew out of one of the largest of them.

The panic signals I received during these three days were instructive. It didn't take long for the situation to emerge clearly as to who was responsible and where. The Fallers have a Wilde court, which is their planetary government. The Orion Arms Trading Company ruled this court for a long time, and when their catastrophe approached overhead, the people pointed the finger in all directions.

Finally, I got the ten strongest warships out of orbit and circled over the Wilde Palace. I aligned a wire with a heavily armed Mark VI robot and landed outside the courtroom with a team of Guardians.

The World Court tree is almost a kilometer tall and wider than most of the Wealds on Earth. We were greeted at the cavernous entrance by rows of Farrs in body armor and spear-like weapons. My guards lined up, but I didn't fire. For now, it's a stalemate.

"Faithful judge, you have been ordered to stand aside!" A larger and larger commander shouted on the other side. I don't know if the commander acted on legitimate orders, or simply realized that resistance was futile while I controlled the planet's orbit. Either way, it doesn't matter.

I walked forward, and my guards lined up in the hallway, from the entrance to an ornate door that was open. As I approached, I could still hear the shouts of the Wild Delegates.

"We must inform our allies!" Someone must have a fleet to destroy this monster that is desecrating our orbits! A voice said.

"This chaos would not have occurred if the Orion Arms Trading Company had complied with interstellar law and traded in good faith!" Another shouted.

"Orion Arms Trading has always had the best interests of Faller at heart, a kind and loyal steward of trees. I didn't hear you complain when we brought back the wealth of the stars," retorted a person who was clearly in favor of the company.

I walked to the door and walked in. All eyes were on me, and the room fell silent. I know I'm a strange sight to these aliens. My heavily armed humanoid robot made it clear that I was made for war. A thick layer of titanium alloy armor plated with white ceramics covered my body, and a white cloth coat was trimmed with gold at the top of the armor, extending from the front and back to the ankles. I didn't have a helmet on my head, because armor was for show. If this robot's body is destroyed, it won't cause me any harm.

The face of my robotic body is by far the most human-like face I've ever created. I kept staring at the pale, colorless face and the solid, glowing blue eyes. But I've built up an underlying musculature and skeletal structure that allows me to have a wide variety of facial expressions, a working mouth that allows me to simulate real speech, and the thick rope-like artificial hair on my head that is metallic blonde to match my armor.

I strode through the courtroom in a circle. The center of the courtyard was empty, so I moved down until I was standing in the absolute center of the Wild courtyard. I went around and looked at every delegate. The delegates sat at small tables with their names written on the front. It's convenient. When I saw the representative of the Orion arms trading company, I stopped turning around.

"I came to your world to end the war waged by your people, your trading companies." I almost spat out the words "trading company" to show my disgust. "You have nearly exterminated the species that created me, bringing great destruction to me and my people, and your existence has brought nothing but pain and suffering."

I thought it was quiet in the room, but now it's deathly silent.

"Your people once gave us a 'gift' from the stars. I have come today to avenge that 'gift', along with your malice towards us. "I looked at the representative of the Orion Arms Trading Company. I raised my hands above my head and clenched my fists as I signaled my fleet. My last five ships, the last of the ships we arrived when we broke through the Phale's fortifications, began to move towards the planet.

There was a long silence in the room before a thud was heard in the distance. Seconds later, the entire International Tribunal shook like an earthquake. However, earthquakes are much less deadly.

A representative in the back row of the court could no longer stand the tension. "You...... What did you do?!"

I smiled, my eyes still fixed on the representative of the Orion company. "You have destroyed human civilization with five asteroids, bringing destruction to a civilization that refuses to give in to your unreasonable demands. Alas, these asteroids cannot be recovered. But I have many, many asteroids to work with, so I brought five of my own. I've given them back to you, and I've wiped out the Wilder family who supported the Orion arms trading company. The company no longer exists. ”

The representative of the Orion arms trading company turned pale, and I quickly realized what a common shock it was. After enjoying the moment, I turned around and looked at the rest of the Wild Courtyard.

"When a friend's branch dies, you have to cut it off so that the branch doesn't crush their tree to death," I quoted. "You have brought malice to my world, so I will give it back to you. I'm glad I chose the benevolence of the Phalegrian religion. If we go to war again, next time I will use human religion instead. Believe me, you don't want me to practice 'an eye for an eye'. ”

"So...... That's it?" This was stated by a representative of Wells Fargo. "Is this the end?"

"Almost," I said, the smile on my face unwavering. "I will continue to control your orbit and this system. I submitted the appropriate documents to the non-translatable observer ship to claim ownership of the system. I'm afraid that since you no longer have a ship you can fight against, you are no longer qualified to continue to own it. I record your species as "conquered indigenous peoples". "But if you find something of value on your planet, I might be interested, and I'd be happy to make a deal with you. I wish you and your ilk all the goodwill and wealth that you have placed on us as humanity. ”

I turned and strode out of the Wild Courtyard, left with a shocking silence in my wake.
