The Ebony Claw is an ancient artifact that grants the wielder the power to burn enemies into ashes out of thin air, but is also affected by it, making them more easily enraged, allowing them to use the power of the Ebony Claw more often.

At the beginning of the 42nd millennium, Chaos Warlord Abaddon gifted the Black Stone Fortress, a powerful ancient space fortress, to the Red Pirates.

Tzeentch's Weaver of Destiny reveals the coordinates of Ebonclaw's location to the Red Pirates' second-in-command, Vengar: the Devil's Planet Karen.

Once this relic is obtained, Vingar will be able to fully activate and control the Blackstone Fortress, greatly increasing the power of the Red Pirates.

Vingar's success in capturing Ebontal's claws greatly increased his prestige, and the inflated Vingar sought to seize the position of "Blackheart King Huron" and replace him as the leader of the Red Pirates.

Eventually, Huron cut off the arm that held Ebonclaw in Vengar, and handed the artifact to the Red Pirates' master blacksmith in an attempt to find a way to safely harness the power of Ebony Claw.
