Chapter Twenty-Seven: The First Lesson
Although Kyle never had to worry about delivering letters, it would be nice to have an owl of his own at Hogwarts.
Because in a sense, owls and Muggle world phone numbers are the same, and they usually represent the identity of their owners.
This is still more important.
To take the simplest chestnut, Kyle's mother Diana works in the Department of Mysteries of the Ministry of Magic, which is very strictly managed, except in special cases, letters sent by ordinary people need to go through layers of screening.
From the identity of the owl, belonging, status...... To the sender's name, identity, affiliation, and finally to check whether there are special substances and curses on the letter.
Until it is determined that there is no problem, the letters will be sent to the Department of Mysteries in the form of paper airplanes.
It's the rule, even if Kyle sends a letter in the past, it's just a matter of going faster.
With the efficiency of the Ministry of Magic, this whole process will be at least a day away.
But with Raton it's different.
Diana can apply for it as a special owl, and while the letter is prioritized, the screening process can be simplified a lot, just check the status of the owl, the name of the sender, and whether there is a curse on the letter, and it can be done on the spot.
At platform 93/4, Diana specifically told him this, asking him to choose the same owl when sending letters in the future, and if it didn't work, he would go to Diagon Alley to buy one.
Of course, it's definitely impossible to buy it, how could Kyle spend that kind of unjust money, he doesn't have a raton now.
Perfectly solved.
Kyle took out some owl nuts from his shape-shifting lizard skin pouch, and a few bags of Motra rat jerky, and pushed them in front of the owls along with the chestnuts in his hand.
After that, I found some water, poured two bottles of owl tonic into it, stirred it well, and poured it into a stone trough next to it.
These are hard work, and they can't be allowed to lose their feathers in this place.
While the owls were eating, Kyle took Raton back to the castle and headed straight for the Hufflepuff common room.
Walk through the barrels in the kitchen hallway and head back to the dormitory......
Mikel and Ryan weren't there, so I guess I was going to the classroom.
Kyle didn't think much of it, and placed Ratton on the shelf next to his bed, grabbed his textbook, and left.
In the common room, Kyle happens to meet Cedric, who is also preparing to go out.
"Kyle, I was going to look for you." Cedric walked over quickly and said, "What's your first lesson?" ”
"Enchantment." Kyle shook the Standard Spell, Elementary, in his hand and asked, "What are you looking for from me?" ”
"By the way, this one is for you." Cedric handed a piece of parchment to Kyle:
"This is a map of Hogwarts that was given to me by a prefect when I first entered the school, and it clearly marked the location of the classrooms and some of the changes in the staircase.
But I don't need it anymore, so it's just right to give it to you. ”
Hogwarts is good everywhere, but it's too big, and the interior is even more intricate, like a big labyrinth, and there is basically no young wizard who has just entered the school who does not get lost, and it is even more common to be late or something.
Fortunately, the professors also knew what was going on, and except for one dean, the other professors turned a blind eye to this, or verbally reprimanded, or symbolically deducted a point, and did not care too much.
Kyle took the parchment and looked at it carefully.
It's a pretty plain map, but it's detailed, with all the routes from the Hufflepuff common room to each classroom, and a special indication of where to wait for the stairs to turn.
It's a low-profile version of the live map, but it's good enough for Kyle.
"Thank you, I really need this." Kyle put away the map and said, "By the way, what was your first lesson?" ”
"I'm a potions...... Wait, potions! ”
Cedric was suddenly startled, and then ran away: "I'll go Kyle first, remember, the last thing you can't be late at Hogwarts is Potions class, you must remember ......"
Cedric's voice grew quieter and quieter, and soon disappeared at the end of the passage.
It is not difficult to see from his performance that Snape must have left a deep shadow on him...... Or that he has left a psychological shadow on many young wizards.
Kyle doesn't think he can run either.
"It's a pity, if only Harry Potter had enrolled a year earlier."
Kyle shook his head and left the common room as well.
……
The Charms classroom is on the third floor, and it's easy to find along the map.
When I opened the door, the first thing I saw was a stack of books piled up in the shape of a staircase, and four portraits of unknown people hung on the wall in front of me.
I guess they're all some of the more famous wizards, but Kyle doesn't know any of them.
On the walls on both sides, hang the logos of the four colleges, and below are several long tables.
When Kyle arrived, it was five minutes before class time.
Truth be told, it's not too early, but there aren't many people in the classroom, not even Professor Flitwick.
Kyle found a place to sit down.
Sitting across from him were a few Ravenclaw wizards, and the people of the two academies were clearly distinguished, one on the left and one on the right.
As the clock drew closer to nine o'clock, the little wizards came in panting.
Kyle also sees Connor, but the little witch ignores him and walks past him in a huff.
At 8:59, Mikel and Ryan were also stuck.
"Thank goodness I wasn't late."
Mikel sat down and began to gasp for air while spitting bitterness at Kyle.
"We're lost."
"Oh my God, Hogwarts is a labyrinth. We were supposed to go up to the third floor, but on the second floor, the staircase suddenly changed position, and we went up to the fifth floor for some reason. ”
"Then we started to go down again, but after walking for a long time, we realized that we were still on the fifth floor."
"I finally came down, but I went back to the second floor...... You know Kyle, we've been climbing the stairs for thirty minutes, and my leg is about to break! ”
The more Mikel talked, the more aggrieved he became, and he was about to cry.
"Wait a minute, it's a bit messy, you let me slow down." Kyle rubbed his forehead, thinking for a long time why they could still walk down.
Even if you are a road idiot, you have to be able to distinguish between the top and the bottom.
Spinning in place or something has touched the realm of metaphysics, which is not the same way as magic.
And there's no mention of it on the map Cedric gave him.
"Forget it, let's not talk about it yet." Unable to figure it out, Kyle decided to give up and turned to ask, "Then how did you end up here?" ”
"I was brought here." Mikel blushed and pointed to the other side, "We met a new Ravenclaw freshman on the fifth floor, she pulled us down the spiral staircase, and asked if we were going to Charms class, and if so, we could come with her." ”
Kyle subconsciously glanced at it, only to realize that Mikel was actually referring to Ravenclaw's Cho Chang.
