Chapter 618: Fudge's Letter
By Friday, the weather was still as cold and damp as the previous days, and the rain hadn't stopped, but the Hufflepuff Quidditch players hadn't missed a single training session.
Like Fred said, Cedric is becoming more and more like Oliver now, let alone this kind of light rain, even if it rains, he probably won't stop training.
At half past eight in the evening, the crowd returned to the warm common room exhausted.
Kyle took off the waterproof and moisture-resistant badge on his clothes, picked up the hot cocoa that Connor had prepared on the table, and took a sip.
Cedric also had a cup of hot tea in his hand, but he had just gone to the kitchen to get it.
"Tomorrow is Hogsmeade Day." Mida Ancona, the new third-year goalkeeper, took off the badge from his shirt and kept it safe before asking, "How is it there, I haven't been there yet." β
At school, only students from the third grade onwards were allowed to visit Hogsmeade on regular weekends, and children who were too young could only stay in the castle.
"It's interesting." Cedric said, "I suggest you start by going to Duke Honey's Confectionery, which is the most popular shop in Hogsmeade and is always packed. β
"Devesbans is not bad either." Connor suggested, "You can buy a lot of interesting magical items there, such as shorthand quill pens and parchment that can be written repeatedly. β
"Of course, if you like something less conventional, you can't miss Jokowi." Kyle said.
"Then go to three broomsticks and have a butterbeer." Another suggestion: "You must try it, and the pumpkin soda and cherry honey soda are much better than the pumpkin juice at school." β
Midan's eyes lit up at the hearing, and he wanted to fly to Hogsmeade now.
Naturally, the conversation shifted from training to Hogsmeade.
Unlike Midaan, Kyle and Cedric have been there many times, plus there are only a few shops, and they don't know how many times they have been back and forth, and the freshness has long passed.
Most of the time, they're trying to give Midaan and another third-year recruit a guide, telling them which store is worth visiting.
And the most appearing are the Honey Duke candy store and the three brooms, all of which are related to eating.
Kyle would have had another place to recommend, which was the Screaming Shack before.
Earlier, Sirius had bought it and was going to open a new shop with Lupin.
However, Voldemort's resurrection disrupted their plan, and now Lupin has a lot to do, and Sirius has been taken away by the Ministry of Magic to investigate.
So, the screaming shack, which had just been renovated for a short time, was put on hold, and no one knew when it would be able to reopen.
When it was almost ten o'clock, everyone who was sleepy returned to their dormitories.
At breakfast the next day, most of the young wizards were in the Great Hall excitedly discussing Hogsmeade and planning what to buy first.
However, Cedric, who was in Year 7, was not very interested in this, and he did not plan to go this time, but decided to stay at the castle and take advantage of the opportunity for everyone to visit and go to the stadium to train for a while.
The rest of the houses were good enough to say, and Cedric was confident that he would beat them, with the exception of Gryffindor.
Harry's firebolts are too much to ignore, and the threat is too great, and although Kyle has the same broomstick, the two are not in the same position.
Kyle is a chaser and needs to rely on scoring goals to gain an advantage, but Harry is a seeker, and as long as he catches the Golden Snitch, the game is over.
Although they had succeeded in holding back Harry's firebolt once with an unexpected plan a year earlier, it had been a surprise that had done so.
Now that they were on guard, it was naturally impossible for them to use the same plan a second time...... Harry wasn't so stupid, he must have figured out how to crack it.
So I have to think of another way......
On the other hand, Kyle wasn't going to go to Hogsmeade either.
It's just that he's not for Quidditch, but because he really doesn't have any shops he wants to go to, so he might as well stay in the break room and play wizarding chess.
Kyle had thought so, but near the end of breakfast, a brown barn owl brought him a brief letter.
There was only one sentence in the letter.
γSee you with three broomsγ
Other than that, there is nothing, including the sender's name.
Just as Kyle wonders who sent it, he suddenly notices Umbridge on the classroom seat looking at him.
Now, Kyle understood.
He was still thinking last night that it had been a week since the last confinement, but there was no movement from the Ministry of Magic, and he thought that Fudge could really calm down, but he didn't expect to receive the letter today.
So, after breakfast, Kyle and the others went to the foyer, where Professor McGonagall and Umbridge led them to Hogsmeade.
"Didn't you say you weren't going to Hogsmeade today?" Walking on the field, Connor asked curiously, "Why did you suddenly change your mind?" β
"Go see someone." Kyle said.
"Who, Professor Black?"
"It's not." Kyle shook his head, "You'll know when you get there." β
Seeing Kyle's mysterious appearance, Connor didn't ask any more.
After arriving at Hogsmeade, Kyle went straight to the three broomsticks, because they came early, and not many people were here, including Fudge.
Generally speaking, everyone thinks of it as a place to rest and have a drink when they are tired of playing.
Kyle orders a pumpkin soda and sits down at an empty table while waiting.
About half an hour later, the door of the three brooms was pushed open.
"Oh, Mr. Minister...... "Miss Rosmerta exclaimed, "how did you have time to come to Hogsmeade." β
"Of course I miss your redcurrant rum, and seriously, I want to take a sip every time I get off work."
"Thank you for the compliment, Mr. Minister." Miss Rosmerta looked pleased, and she turned to look at Umbridge, who had come with her.
"So, Professor Umbridge, what about you?"
"Mead with cherry syrup." Umbridge said with a snort.
Kyle, who was sitting on the side, could clearly see that Miss Rosmerta was clutching a cup under the bar with her hand, barely keeping the expression on her face.
"Wait a minute." She said, and then turned around and prepared to go.
Since there weren't many people in the bar, Fudge naturally made his way to Kyle's table.
"Long time no see, Kyle." He greeted him warmly, as if they had really met by chance. "You did a great job beating Beauxbatons and Durmstrang at the Triwizard Tournament last year, and honestly, it's been a long time since we've won an international event like this."
"That's what I'm supposed to do, Mr. Minister." Kyle said.
Connor on the side looked at Kyle, and then at Fudge, who was about to speak, and suddenly understood something.
"I'm going to buy some candy." She stood up and said, then left the bar.
"What a clever girl." Fudge walked over to her place and sat down, taking off the striped top hat and placing it aside.
Umbridge also sat on the other side.
"Connor has always been smart." Kyle said with a smile.
