Chapter 19: Run!
In the dilapidated apartment, Williams and Yager entered Bill Rudolph's old house through the balcony.
Yager turned on the lantern pinned to his waist.
As previously described, the dark room is now in chaos due to the frequent visits of thieves. Scattered books, old clothes, and old furniture fell to the ground, forming a thick layer of cobwebs.
The dusty floor was littered with footprints.
"These bitch-bitched bastards!" Despite knowing that this might happen, Williams scolded angrily when he saw it.
"Bastard with mud in your head! All ***** thieves who should chop their hands! β
"Have you forgotten what Bill did to the East End? You deserve to starve to death on the docks! ******οΌ β
He roared out a series of filthy words without repetition, giving the stranger a first-hand taste of the profundity of the Rune language.
Yager shamelessly pulled Williams, whose chest was still rising and falling: "Calm down." β
Forget it, brother, it's not worth taking another life.
Supporting the angry Easterners, he briefly glanced at the entire room.
In addition to the mess everywhere, traces of life from a long time ago can be seen on the walls illuminated by lanterns. It was littered with children's graffiti and some badly papered awards.
It seems that Bill Rudolph has been an excellent student since he was a child.
In addition, there is a picture frame with broken glass in the corner of the room, which contains a group photo of several poorly dressed young boys, which appear to be a group photo of some orphanage.
Oddly enough, while the whole room was dusty, the particular location was quite clean.
The frame, for example, had shattered glass shards that covered the floor in front of the living room couch, but it was placed on a bookshelf on the side.
Even the front is so clean that you can see the photo without wiping it.
Another example.
Yager lowered the lantern so that the messy footsteps on the ground were clearly visible.
It stands to reason that only the room frequented by thieves has a lot of boot footprints with heels and delicately textured soles. Thieves in the East End, or even the police, may not be able to afford shoes at this price.
"Williams, has anyone been investigating Bill's case lately?"
"What?" Dozens of seconds later, the excited Williams barely recovered from the bloodshot state of his face, and sat out of breath on the only chair in the room that didn't overturn, "Oh, the investigation? It's quite a lot of people. β
"Mostly the damn reporters of the various newspapers, and then it's you. No, no, didn't say you damn it, you're not like them. Those **** ....."
Seeing that he was about to start again, Yager quickly cut off the conversation: "I mean, has anyone ever been to this room?" β
"Ahem," a string of expletives got stuck in his mouth, and the Eastern Side snake thought for a moment and replied, "Not really." β
"I've been following Bill for a long time, and I'm sure the lock on the front door hasn't been removed since the police came to Bill's accident. Liv didn't see anyone else wandering around the doorway, and the footprints must have been made by thieves. β
That's not right.
Yager nodded, not uttering his guess.
He silently turned on his vision.
Suddenly!
After the vision went gray, what appeared in front of Yager's eyes were layers of transparent silk threads, almost woven into cobwebs.
It's full of traces of the extraordinary.
Well, there are three on the balcony behind it, with a thunderous feel, which should be from the Storm Church. There are also two around the cabinet on the left, and the familiar aura tells him that he is left by a believer in the god of steam and machines.
But most of them are the ubiquitous, almost black countless silk threads. They are shadowy, and a middle-aged man with a goatee can be faintly seen inside.
It was left behind by the dead Bill Rudolph.
A gentle but guided path, Yager couldn't be sure which sequence it belonged to for the time being, after all, he had only met a limited number of transcendents. But what is certain is that the Bill who can leave them is at least Sequence Eight or above.
Wait a minute.
He stopped in front of the broken glass of the frame.
Under the observation of the Vision, he could notice a piece of broken glass with a little bit of blood, and the blood was stained with an undetectable transcendent aura, exactly the same as the faint silk thread on Lenze's severed finger that he had seen in the Minsk office the other day.
The same transcendent caused the severed finger and this drop of blood.
Whose blood is this?
"What's wrong? Did you find anything? Williams watched nervously as Yager walked around the room.
"Yes, there are some." Yager turned to look at him, "Do Lenzer and Bill know each other?" β
"They do. Sorry, I thought you knew. β
Williams looked at him in surprise and recounted a piece of history that the newspapers hadn't told: "Mr. Lenzer was the son of a company owner in Midtown, but when he was five years old, the riots in the East Side spread to the fringe, and he got lost on his way out to play." β
He was too young to remember his home address, so he was taken to an orphanage for a few years. The orphanage was a block away from here, and that's when he met Bill. β
Later, at the age of sixteen, he went to Midtown to look for his parents, and was seen by his father's staff, and he was taken home from here.
But Mr. Lenzer always remembers his days in the Eastside, where he and Bill have donated to the orphanage and the Eastside for so many years, and they built both roads here. Therefore, the docker's union and our good friend who we are all willing to give to Mr. Lenze....."
Williams' expression contorted, skipping Clint's name, "..... Vote. β
Obviously, even if he wanted to believe that Bill Rudolph was not involved in the killing of Lenzer, he still did not trust Viscount Clint, a brigadier who had all the votes.
On the side, after listening to this past Yager, he finally figured out the context of the matter.
So the most likely reason for the case now is that Clint's rival faction didn't want to see him get a seat on the council, so they kidnapped Lenze and framed Clint.
In this way, Clint lost both his base and his election qualifications, once and for all. Duke Negan, who had supported him, saw an opportunity to rob the paper mill and joined the ranks.
Now, the good news is that if the blood belongs to Lenze, it is possible that Lenze is still alive, and Viscount Clint has a chance to turn over.
Yager picked up the bloodstained shards of glass on the ground and looked at the lantern.
The bad news is that he still doesn't know Bill Rudolph's role in this. If the blood was Lunze's, why did he come here after being injured? If blood isn't, what does the murderer who amputated Lenzer's finger have to do with Bill?
"Knock Knock ......"
A faint voice came from outside.
Yager's face changed suddenly.
"How-"
"Quiet."
He raised his hand to turn off the lantern and stopped Williams from trying to get up.
In the pitch-black room, Yager stared at the side of the living room, the bedroom they hadn't entered.
The door of the room was open, like a black hole in the absence of light, except for the light of the red moon in the innermost window.
"Knock Knock ....."
The sound of the soles of shoes hitting metal came from outside that window.
Someone is coming up.
Yager silently moved into the shadows on the side of the bedroom door, reached into the inside of his trench coat with his right hand, and pulled out the weapon he had prepared in advance.
γEvelynγ
[A special pistol used by the Hearst knights of Cain.] The weapon, named Evelyn, used mercury bullets like the other factory guns, but Cainhurst's version had a more elaborate design to accentuate its elegance and was quite popular with the knights. γ
Although he could no longer remember the familiar name of Cain Hurst, Agger had a more crude impression of the pistol.
Extremely lethal.
It is guaranteed to open the skull of a transcendent person at the moment of shooting.
He silently waited for the arrival of the person who was about to experience his peerless elegance firsthandβ
Outside the window, Crane, who knew nothing about it, followed Ian and ascended the hidden metal ladder.
