Chapter Twenty-Eight: A New Neighbor
The next day, early in the morning.
There was a sound of chopping vegetables at No. 24 Beckland Hydrographic Road.
Bright sunlight shines through the windows and illuminates the kitchen in this small building. Underneath the miserable three or four bowls in the cupboard was Yager, who was preparing breakfast.
Heh, what does a person want so many bowls for.
The 'budget-conscious' Yager sliced the tomatoes and put them on two pieces of white bread with the lettuce, then topped with luncheon meat and a lethal amount of peanut butter to complete the day's breakfast.
He brought the plate to the dining table in the living room.
In the main hall of the small western-style building, which can be called magnificently decorated, the black-haired young man opened the delicately carved chair and sat down, took out the newly arrived Beckland Morning News, and took a sip of milk.
To his surprise, the front page headline of the morning newspaper today was neither Viscount Clint, nor the corpse at the door of the Holy Wind Church last night.
'Ambassador Intis in Beckland was assassinated after a banquet! '
Oh?
Yager immediately thought of yesterday's Sherlock Moriarty detective and MI9. It stands to reason that only these two waves could have assassinated the ambassador.
In terms of strength, he tends to do it with MI9, after all, Sherlock's level is really hard to describe.
But on the other hand, MI9 has no incentive to do so. Because as long as the Kingdom of Rune has no intention of going to war with Intis, the ambassador cannot be killed in Beckland.
Ambassadors are a symbol of peaceful diplomatic relations.
So is it still Sherlock......?
Yager continued to read the full story.
He found the point at the end of the first page: 'It is reported that the well-known cult Aurora Society has declared responsibility for the matter. The Beckland Morning Post reminds you that this illegal sect has acted in extreme ways and has caused many homicides, so please be sure not to contact and ask questions......
Omit the meaningless water word count ratio at the end, and the focus of this sentence is on the Aurora Society.
It's a bit strange that Aurora will have nothing to do and go to the trouble of Ambassador Intis to do something.
However, Yager didn't know much about the Aurora Society, and had almost no idea other than that it was a well-known terrorist gang in the Kingdom of Rune.
So he didn't know that last night's deafening roar was from the hand of the evil god of the Aurora Society.
Otherwise, some crumbs will come to the door in anger.
Yager folded the newspaper and was on his way to work just in time to ask Detective Moriarty and commission part of the investigation by the way.
Yesterday he pushed forward with a total of four outstanding issues.
First of all, the case of Viscount Clint and Lenze is basically clear, and the next thing is to go to Capin's mansion. You can entrust Sherlock with investigating the information, but if nothing comes of it, it doesn't matter, just go over it.
Then there's Bill Rudolph, and there's not much progress yet, except that Bill's mother and Liv's youngest daughter next door are involved in the disappearance of the East End. There was no extraordinary factor in it, and he couldn't find an entry point, so he entrusted it to the detective.
Finally, there is the evil spirit of the church and the suburban manor. Both of these must be preceded by the preparation of weapons and careful "exploration".
All in all, most of the above investigations can be entrusted to Detective Moriarty, just to offset the debts between them, saving him the effort to investigate.
He only needs to be in charge of the force part.
After going through the week's to-do list in his head, Yager settled out the sandwich in two bites and put on a black trench coat and went out.
The Chorwood borough is bustling with people in the mornings, and every now and then an unusually ornate horse-drawn carriage whizzes through the streets, which some of the wealthy neighbors have bought themselves.
Yager's small bungalow is located in the middle and upper part of the Jowood district, close to the Minsk office and the upper town, so except for his renter, the neighbors who live on the left and right are relatively wealthy.
The house on his left side belonged to a family of employees of the tax office of the Kingdom of Rune, and a middle-aged couple with two children could often be seen seeing the difficult scene of them sending their children to school.
On the right side lived an old lady, whose relatives were said to be in Intis, but she preferred to live in her hometown of Beckland, so she never left.
Usually, she likes to plant roses in her room, the crimson villa exterior wall has been crawled with vines, and the small garden at the door is a sea of flowers.
However, today, a strange young man appeared at the door of this house.
The young man had slightly curly hair, a thin body, and wore a pair of gold-rimmed glasses on his face, which looked well-dressed, but from time to time he touched his glasses-wearing left eye socket uncomfortably.
When he saw Yager next door, the young man turned and tilted his head to look at him for a moment.
Then he smiled and said, "Hello, my name is Green." β
"Hello." Yager nodded, "Yager Dryster." Who are you? β
"I am the son of Mrs. Mary's cousin, and I originally lived in Intis. Mrs. Mary had recently died of illness, and I had come to Beckland for her funeral. β
"The rest of the family can't spare time to come, so I have to clean the old house." Green leaned over to Yager and reached out to shake his hand, a duly depressed expression.
"Condolences."
For some reason, Yager could vaguely feel that the young man in front of him was not sad.
But he didn't take it to heart. Who doesn't have a few distant relatives they don't know at all? It's normal to have no waves in your heart.
"I work in the admissions department of Chung-Ang University." The gloom on Green's face was fleeting, and he soon squinted and smiled again. "What about you?"
Recruit students?
Yager gave another surprise look at Green's face. Although the other party looks young, his actions are extremely deep, and all his emotions are superficial.
As he looked over, the smile on Green's face deepened a little, making Yager feel a subtle discomfort.
Such an admissions officer...... He observed a moment of silence for students applying to Chung-Ang University.
"At the Minsk office in front." He replied.
"That's right. The work of the firm must be interesting. Green nodded, "It's time to go to work, so I won't bother you." β
He was very socially aware and offered to say goodbye.
"I'm supposed to be staying here for a while in the future, it's nice to meet you."
Green walked up to the hallway, which was surrounded by Mrs. Mary's roses, and took off his hat to Yager.
Yager nodded, and also took off the top hat on his head: "It's nice to meet you, goodbye." β
"Goodbye."
Yager watched as Green beckoned to him, seemingly in high spirits as he disappeared behind the door at 25 Hydro Road.
The originally beautiful façade seemed to have darkened after the arrival of this young man.
This should be his new neighbor.
Yager withdrew his gaze from the next door.
Although the enthusiasm is a little weird, but in general a polite youth. This was Green's first impression of Jager.
Green's biggest problem is that he has the temperament of an outlaw fanatic, but that's okay, intuitively speaking, Auger thinks he can hold Grimm's hammer.
There will be no danger to the new neighbors.
He didn't pay much attention to the little episode, and after a little judgment, he turned away and re-embarked on the road to Klein's house.
