Chapter 169: Secret Invasion of S.H.I.E.L.D
A concrete building standing 20 stories tall stands proudly on the island, and the sun shines on its surface, shining brightly.
The building's triangular base, surrounded by lakes that glisten in the sun, contrasts with the building's concrete façade.
Under the laws of Washington, D.C., there shouldn't have been a 20-story building that was far above the height limit, but it was located here.
Its name, "Sanfei Ornament", is the symbol and meaning of the existence of this small island, and it is also the main stronghold of the Territorial Strategic Defense Attack and Logistics Support Bureau.
The only way to Sanfei is a wide bridge that connects the island to the outside world across the lake.
Lifting columns are set on both sides of the entire bridge that can be raised when needed, knocking any vehicle that wants to drive into it to a pulp to the ground, ensuring that outside access is controlled.
A group of soldiers in uniforms and armed with military weapons patrol the corners of the bridge from time to time. They keep an eye on the eye to make sure that no unauthorized persons enter this particular area.
"Suck."
Nick Fury sits in his neat and spacious office, softly lit and full of serenity. He picked up a cup of coffee and took a leisurely sip, feeling the heat spread in his mouth.
In front of him, there was a neat stack of papers, with the name that reminded him of a lot of history: "Project Avengers". The name carries too many memories and responsibilities and is one of those plans he has been secretly planning and advancing for years.
After meeting the flying and shooting Carol Danvers, two aliens and an alien 'cat' in 95, he realized that there was a group of superpowers in this world that were far beyond ordinary human strength, and decided to use Carol's former unit name "Avengers" to form a team.
He flipped through the stack of papers, and a line of names popped into view: Bruce Banner, Tony Stark, Thor, Hank Pym, but the fourth person had a big black question mark on his name.
A Level 3 agent who was last sent to talk to Pym was bitten into the hospital by a large swarm of red fire ants that came from nowhere, and now suffers from severe insect phobia.
The only thing to be thankful for is that his two right-hand men, the bald Sitwell and the good old Coulson, were not sent to talk to the unusually uncooperative Pym.
Thinking of this, Fury casually picked up the landline phone next to the table and said, "Coulson, did the team in the Arctic find anything?" β
Immediately, a honest-sounding male voice came from the other end of the line: "No, sir." The only thing our excavation team found was a polar bear, and they didn't even find a seal."
"Keep looking for me, I'm asking you to find Captain America, not some native Arctic creature." Fury, who wears a black blindfold, said that one of his dark faces was noticeably darker.
Why did Howard Stark just think about fishing for the Cosmic Cube, and he didn't even write down the coordinates of the crash site on the paper.
He wouldn't really covet Steve Rogers' girlfriend Peggy as rumored to be.
The window shook slightly, and a gust of wind blew into the room, sending a chill down Fury's bare head.
"I remember I closed the window"
Fury subconsciously muttered and looked up, but was stunned.
Because in the blink of an eye, there were two more strangers in front of him, a silver-haired man and a black-haired man.
"Who are you? This is not the place for tourists, we only have plans to open the door to the public on the lower three floors, and it is limited to senior government officials. β
Fury's only remaining eyes narrowed at the two strangers, his words full of wariness.
How did these two get here without a word? Hallucinogens? Superpowers? Or is there a mole?
Of all the options, the last one was ruled out in his mind as quickly as possible, and since the abdication of Alexander Pierce, his guide and mentor, S.H.I.E.L.D. has been completely controlled by himself.
With his own thunderous means, there may be a small number of traitors who are tempted by profits, but infiltrate the Sanfei ornament as the base camp of S.H.I.E.L.D.?
No way!
As he spoke, he lightly stepped on a hidden button under the table three times in a row, triggering the emergency signal. This is his regular response, and the outward signal will quickly attract support from S.H.I.E.L.D. agents.
In just twenty seconds, a team of heavily armed S.H.I.E.L.D. agents would burst into the room, taking the situation completely into their own hands.
"Hello, Nicholas."
Bai Ye, who was standing at the front, smiled, took out a small scanner from his pocket and swept it at the one-eyed dragon in front of him, and as Didi sounded twice, the scanner turned green, proving that the person in front of him was not the object it should be responsible for detecting.
Fury frowned, most people would call him Nick or Fury, and few would call him Nicholas directly.
This made him even more alert, but he still tried to maintain his calm and looked at the person in front of him, and said calmly: "Just call me Nick, what's the matter?" β
"I've admired your wife Farah for a long time, I wonder if I'll ever have a chance to talk to her?"
White Night put away the scanner, walked behind Fury and gently pressed his shoulder, as if talking to an old friend.
"Mazefak!"
The black-faced man was instantly furious, his eyes widened, he no longer concealed his emotions, and shouted loudly and unabashedly: "Who the fuck are you?" Why do you know about my wife? What organization are you? β
He tried to break free of the man's hands behind him, but no matter how much he twisted them, he couldn't shake them.
Realizing the gap between the two, Fury sat back down.
Only a handful of people in S.H.I.E.L.D. know about his wife, and those who know it think it's just one of the cover for the identity of Nick Fury, the head of the secret service.
After all, Fury, the old boy, told people nonsense, and no one could figure out what he was thinking, and some people even speculated that he was not actually black, but just disguised as a black man in order to adapt to the changing times.
But despite the rage, Fury's feet under the table are still frantically stepping on the buttons, why hasn't the damn task force come yet? It's been almost half a minute!
"Are you waiting for your agent squad? They won't come. β
Bai Ye smiled, the Fury in front of him was still a little tender, although his face was darker than a briquette, but his heart was still not black enough.
Sitting in his office was a real person, not a Skrull.
After all, he is just an agent who grew up normally and joined S.H.I.E.L.D., far less than the old thing in the comics who has been living on infinite formulas since World War II.
At least 616 Fury would never have done anything to marry a Skrull.
Hearing this, Fury chuckled in his heart and asked:
"Won't it come? What do you mean. β
