Chapter 12: Exploration
Later, I also discussed the question of the soul with Ah Ping. I thought that the memories of the people around me had changed since I went back in time, but the people around me were still themselves, and this was a good counterexample. But Ah Ping said that he had also had this kind of thought, and quickly figured out the contradiction. The essence of time regression is that one's own brain receives a possible outcome in the future. Essentially, there are countless possibilities for the future itself, but it hasn't happened yet. Take the good people as an example, I use the memories of the good people in the events that did not happen to deny the memories of the good people in the real world, thinking that the memories should be different for different souls, isn't it ridiculous in itself, and the future of the good people itself has countless possible memories, but he will only go to one of them.
And my other thought: could a small part of a very real dream be a fragment of memory transmitted by oneself in another timeline? After hearing this, Ah Ping said that he had not talked about similar things in his conversation with Wen Bing, and this kind of conjecture should not be scientific in his personal feeling.
Later, we talked about the nature of time. I've never understood why time rewind is successful. Now that I've drunk the potion, the future hasn't happened yet. In the future, I know many things, but now it has passed. Without the cause of the future that has already happened, there is no fruit for me to receive the memories transmitted by the future. And without the cause of the present and the past, there is no present that can accept the consequences of the memory transmitted in the future. Isn't that a contradiction?
I once thought about a parallel universe explanation, a theory that would explain the grandfather paradox very well. The grandfather paradox is that if a person takes a time machine back in time to kill his grandfather before he gave birth to his father, but if the grandfather does not succeed in giving birth to the father, the father will not give birth to this person, then how can the grandfather be killed by this person? And the explanation of the parallel universe is that this person went back to the past and entered another parallel world. No matter what you do in this world, in your own world, your grandfather gave birth to your father, and your father gave birth to this person, it is already an unchanging fact, and existence is reasonable.
I thought that a self who had reached the parallel universe of the future passed on to me such a memory of what had happened in his parallel world. But if that's the case, Brother Shui in that parallel universe should also pass on his memories to Brother Shui in my world. In fact, I have never succeeded in stopping Brother Shui in my memory, and Brother Shui has not succeeded in making a human centipede in my memory. This means that we are on the same timeline from beginning to end, and we go back in time to affect each other. Although it is not possible to judge whether the concept of parallel universes is correct or not, at least our way of going back in time does not cross over to other parallel universes. In the same way, the fact that we go back in time and don't see our other selves is also a good proof. Assuming that it is a parallel universe theory, the passage of the soul will cause the death of the self in another world, and the passage of the body will cause the appearance of two selves, which is obviously unreasonable. Since we are on the same timeline, how can time regression conform to the theory of causality?
Ah Ping affirms the theory of cause and effect, and the fact that our method of going back in time does not cross over to other parallel universes. The reason for the causal contradiction lies in our lack of understanding of time. In our stereotype, time is like an arrow that is detached from the bowstring, always forward, and there is a large global time. It is precisely on the basis of the fact that time can only move forward, that I have come to the conclusion that there is a causal contradiction in time retrospection.
First of all, Ah Ping proposed that time is artificially prescribed, a concept that can bring convenience to our lives and better arrange work and rest. The world has its own appearance, and no matter how chaotic and disordered it is, it still has an ultimate appearance. And the work of human development for thousands of years is to summarize what it looks like. Divide different contents into different disciplines, what physics, chemistry and biology, and then continue to divide and divide until a certain range is found, and then it will be written into books and become a theorem that can bring guidance to people's lives. And when we have a deeper understanding of the world, we will gradually discover some of the original theorems, and we can find special cases that do not match. For example, when it is found that irreversible reactions are not completely carried out, people define the chemical equilibrium constant, and when a certain value is reached, it is the dividing line to distinguish between reversible and irreversible reactions. Some erroneous theorems have been abolished. For example, geocentrism, for example, there are no irrational numbers, only the theory of integers and fractions.
And after understanding this, we should understand that there are no laws in the world. It is we who have found certain rules, and they all apply under certain conditions. It is not that the world revolves around the laws in our books, but that the laws in our books are constantly corrected and improved around the world.
Time, on the other hand, is a concept created by human beings. We look at clocks and timekeeping, record the movement of objects, what is it in essence? It is to compare the motion of an object with the movement of a pointer. Electronic watches and atomic clocks may have different principles, but they are all based on one change and compare other changes. Because in human perception, the rate of rotation of gears is relatively constant, so it is chosen to make clocks.
Putting aside these appearances, what is the nature of time? Sports? Does entropy increase? These are all appearances, so why does the movement of objects have to depend on the passage of time? The increase in entropy is just a symptom, the water in the refrigerator condenses into ice, which is a typical anti-entropy process, is the time of water reversed? We never have a fixed standard, that is, an essential thing, that proves that time will pass according to this standard, and it is irreversible in one direction.
The greater the gravitational pull, the slower time becomes. The faster the speed, the slower the time. We are on the mountain, on the flat, on the plane, on the bus, and the speed of time is different. Although this is quite tiny, it requires the precision of an atomic clock to manifest itself. Because the speed of time is inversely proportional to the speed of the object, and the speed of the object needs to be close to the speed of light, the speed of time will tend to be close to rest. Therefore, even the speed of an airplane and the speed of the earth's rotation are negligible in the face of the speed of light, so the impact is quite small, and people will not notice the difference in daily life. But since the flow rate of time is not fixed, there is no global time standard, so what is the essence of time?
Suppose there is a timeline where everything is fixed. At each point in Planck's time, there is a corresponding picture. Of course, the creatures in the picture only have memories of the current picture and the previous picture. Suppose the Creator dragged a point on this timeline, called the current time, and he turned this point back and forth repeatedly, no one would be able to feel that time was reversible.
Therefore, the memory of the future does not exist without occurring, and the memory of the past has passed and cannot be changed, which itself is created by us, and the concept of time is not deep enough to produce the time that has been constant in the previous mindset, and the contradiction of the law of cause and effect.
Memory regression is a kind of information transmitted through strong willpower in the gaps of time, but it does not need to be truly reversed in time. More precisely, the information received is a state that does not happen but can happen.
And the grandfather paradox mentioned earlier, what Ah Ping learned, in the worldview of Wen Bing, it is impossible to return to a point in time that did not exist.
