Chapter 5 (I)
When Fang Lei returned home, he was extremely tired.
From noon to night, he has been running around the community looking for clues, visiting from the 31st floor to the ground floor door to door, tired and bones are about to fall apart but not much gained.
The property sent photos of the deceased to the owners of the various buildings, but no one recognized who he was.
The autopsy report from the medical examiner has not yet been released. The investigation of the case gradually reached an impasse.
However, not all of them are without suspicions.
For example, the man who lives in 2502 is a little eccentric.
At that time, the woman opposite said that there was a pervert living on the other side of the door, and asked the reason, but said that she was based on intuition, which made him not take her words seriously.
There are many women who like to chew on the root of other people's tongues, and he has received countless reports that someone is a murderer or a bad person, and there is no evidence at all, but it turns out that it is nothing more than random speculation.
However, when he knocked on the other party's door and saw the man for the first time, he was stunned for a moment. The man was about forty years old, with dark skin, a scruffy face, hair that looked like it hadn't been washed in a long time, and he was wearing a crumpled white T-shirt that had been washed countless times, ripped jeans, and a pair of flip-flops underneath. His eyes were blank, he smelled of alcohol, and he looked very decadent.
"Who are you looking for?"
The man stared straight at Fang Lei with a pair of drunken eyes.
"Police." Fang Lei flashed his police ID card, "Is it convenient to go in and take a look?" ”
The man stared at him for a few more moments before reluctantly stepping aside. Fang Lei walked in. Immediately, the door closed behind him.
"What's wrong, officer?"
Fang Lei didn't speak, just looked around. The furniture in the house is simple, the decoration of the white floor, the coffee table in the living room is filled with a bunch of wine bottles, and the ashtray is piled up with cigarette butts, which creates an unpleasant smell of tobacco and alcohol in the air.
"You live alone?" Fang Lei asked casually.
"Yes."
"Tenants, huh?"
"Hmm."
Fang Lei turned his head to look at the other party. Only then did he realize that the man was tall and strong, and that his long-term irregular life made him look unhealthy, but there was a dangerous aura all over his body. He judged that with the man's physique, it should be more than enough to throw a big yellow dog down the stairs.
"Take out your ID card and take a look."
The man let out an "oh", then picked up the leather jacket from the coffee table, took out the ID from it and handed it to Fang Lei. Fang Lei took it and took a quick look.
"Tao Jun?"
"Hmm."
Fang Lei took a picture of his identity information with his mobile phone, and then returned the document to him.
"You're not a local?"
"It's not."
"What are you doing in this city?"
"Work."
"What job?"
"Actor. However, I have recently lost my job and am now staying at home. ”
"Actors?" With Fang Lei's limited experience, he has not had much contact with such a profession, especially in a place with a relatively weak cultural atmosphere such as the economic development zone. "Acting or something?"
"Stage play." Tao Jun was already a little impatient, "I'm an actor specially hired by the Cultural and Sports Center, but recently their show stopped, so I'll stay at home for the time being." If you don't believe it, you can check it. ”
"I'll look it up."
"Anything else?"
"Are you married?"
"Officer, I wonder why you're asking these ......"
"All you have to do is answer my question."
Tao Jun sighed and spread his hands.
"Gone."
"Well, I can see it."
Fang Lei walked to the north-facing balcony, opened the aluminum alloy window, and looked down. The crime scene below is still busy. He crouched down and looked carefully at the tiles on the ground to see if there was anything suspicious, such as dog hair.
"How's that guy?"
"Dead."
"Dead?!"
Fang Lei frowned, stood up, and faced Tao Jun.
"What's wrong? You reacted so much? ”
"Nothing."
Fang Lei squinted at him.
"Looks like you're concerned about this?"
"Wrong. I don't care much. ”
"Oh? Is it? You just don't want to know who threw the dog? ”
"That's your police job."
Tao Jun said and sat down on the couch, turned on the TV, and began to drink beer while watching a sports game as if no one was around.
Fang Lei carefully inspected the balcony and found nothing. He returned to the living room and took another look at the room.
"In that case, I'll go first. If you have any clues, you can always call the police hotline......"
Just then, there was a slight noise in the bathroom. Fang Lei immediately became alert, stood still, and listened.
"Officer ......"
"Shh Fang Lei motioned to Tao Jun not to speak.
Soon, there was another sound, as if something had been knocked over. When he saw that Tao Jun was about to get up, he immediately pointed his finger at him.
"Don't move!"
He stared at Tao Jun as he quickly moved towards the bathroom. A shadow was shown shaking in the crack under the bathroom door. Fang Lei grabbed the doorknob with one hand, took a deep breath, and slammed the door open.
A puppy came out of it.
This is a black and white cocker spaniel with big ears hanging on the sides of its head, and it keeps sniffing Fang Lei's shoes when it comes out. Fang Lei crossed the puppy and stepped into the bathroom, and saw that a stainless steel dog basin had been knocked over on the ground, and dog food was scattered all over the floor.
Other than that, there are no other creatures.
"It's called Pudding, and it's a girl."
Tao Jun had already appeared behind him at some point.
I saw him crouch down, take the pudding cocker in his arms, and stroke its head with his hands, as if to soothe a baby who is sleeping. Pudding's reward for him was to lick his face non-stop.
"I divorced my wife and got nothing, including my daughter. Pudding is the only thing I can take with me. ”
Fang Lei walked out of the bathroom and came to the living room.
He now knows why the home looks so decadent and run-down: it's the home of a frustrated middle-aged literary man. For a moment, he felt a trace of pity for this man who was twenty years younger than himself.
"Then don't bother. Oh, by the way, what's that play you're playing? ”
"Monkey Change. But," Tao Jun shrugged, "you may never see it." ”
