Chapter 645: A new generation of cruisers

PS: It's Fan Festival soon, ask for support!

........................................................................

Compared with other powers, China's warship models are very few, and only submarines and aircraft carriers may have a few more types. There are not many other types of warships.

For example, heavy cruisers, China's first phase of naval equipment expansion program that began in 1909 So far, although there are 30 heavy cruisers in service, there are only 4 models.

They are the Qingchengshan class (Qingcheng class) that began service in 1911, and a total of 8 ships were built, namely Qingchengshan, Emeishan, Yandangshan, Tianshan, Qixiashan, Daxinganling, Huangshan and Lushan. The original Qingchengshan and Emeishan were decommissioned in 1936.

The Changbai Mountain class (Changbai class), which began to enter service in 1916, built a total of 8 ships, namely Ailao Mountain, Baotai Mountain, Fuqing Mountain (that is, "Bayan Kala Mountain", the name of Bayan Kala Mountain comes from Mongolian, meaning "rich green mountain", and was renamed "Fuqing Mountain" in 1915), Wangwu Mountain, Da Lou Mountain, Jiuzhi Mountain, Donggong Mountain, and Gaoligong Mountain.

A total of 8 ships of the Southridge class, which entered service in 1919, were built. They are Nanling, Da Yuling, Qitianling, Mengzhuling, Dupangling, Yuechengling, Xiaoxinganling and Xianxialing.

Then in 1922, the Wuyishan class began to enter service, and during the entire naval holiday period from the 20s to the 30s, China only built 8 Wuyishan-class, a time span of 15 years, an average of two years. They are Wuyishan, Wushan, Tanggula Mountain, Altai Mountain, Daba Mountain, Wuzhishan, Wandashan and Luliangshan.

Among them, the Qingcheng class was recognized as an "over-standard heavy patrol" at that time, with a standard displacement of 15,950 tons and a full load displacement of 17,000 tons when it was completed. The main guns are 4 triple 240 mm 50 times the diameter of the main gun, and 8 twin 130 mm 50 times the diameter of the secondary gun, arranged on the side of the gunwale. After the Sino-Japanese War, the Qingcheng class began to be modified and replaced with a twin 280 mm 50 times diameter main gun. In the Washington Naval Treaty negotiations, this kind of "over-standard heavy patrol" became the focus of the bargain, and in the end China had to give in and change them to a triple 210 mm 55 times diameter main gun, which met the requirements of the treaty.

The second type of Changbaishan class is a real heavy patrol, with a standard displacement of 13,000 tons and a full load displacement of 16,000 tons. The main guns are 4 triple 210 mm 50 times diameter main guns.

The third type of Nanling class is further improved on the basis of Changbai Mountain class, and the standard displacement is increased to 16,000 tons, and the full displacement is 18,800 tons. The biggest change was that the main gun was changed to three triple 210 mm 55 x diameter guns, although the number of guns was reduced compared to the first two, but this was a new type of rapid-fire gun, the 210 mm naval gun of the 1918 model. The rate of fire of each gun can reach 12 rounds per minute, yes, this is the original time and space Mk.16 8-inch 55 times the diameter of the main gun, the famous "8-inch machine gun", of course, in this plane is the "210 mm machine gun".

The fourth type of Wuyishan-class is a treaty-type heavy cruiser, and as we all know, this treaty is used to exploit loopholes. According to the Washington Treaty, the standard row of heavy cruisers of various countries should not exceed 15,000 tons. Everyone is playing with scales, China is no exception, the real standard row of the Wuyi Mountain class is 17,200 tons, the largest type ever built in China, but it is reported to be 14,980 tons. Of course, the firepower is not surpassed, or three triple 210 mm 55 times the diameter of the main gun.

When the naval treaty ended, China did not embark on a new heavy patrol, but it began to play magic. Thirty heavy cruisers were first returned to the dock for modernization. In addition to replacing gas turbines with new radars, sonars, computers, and fire control systems, removing seaplanes, and installing helicopter platforms, all missiles have been refitted, and even the main guns have been changed.

Six Qingchengshan-class and eight Changbaishan-class ships were dismantled with a rear main turret and converted into a missile vertical launch system. The main gun was changed to a twin 310 mm 50 x diameter main gun.

The Southridge class moved the vertical launch system by adjusting the superstructure, and similarly replaced the turret with a twin 310mm 50x diameter gun.

The Wuyishan class, which was built after World War I, has been even more changed, they have been designed with future missile modifications in mind, leaving enough room for transformation in advance, and in 38 years of modernization, they were removed from the No. 2 and No. 3 main turrets, and all were replaced with missile vertical launch systems. The No. 1 main turret was also replaced with a twin 310 mm 50x diameter gun.

The reason why the main gun was replaced in this way is because in the live fire test after World War I and the war, it was found that with the progress of science and technology, the shipbuilding level of various countries is getting higher and higher, and the 8-inch class gun has been difficult to cause fatal damage to cruiser-class targets, although the 210-mm machine gun has an amazing rate of fire, but it can often only wash the deck of the opponent, and it is difficult to sink the opponent.

Another point is the problem of support on the other side, the turtle shells of various countries are also becoming more and more perverted and more and more difficult to destroy, and the 8-inch level artillery seems to be insufficient in front of these new fortresses.

So now China's active heavy patrol has become the configuration of 6 310 mm guns, these new 310 mm guns, not only can fire a variety of shells, but also can fire artillery missiles. As for the original armament of the "210-mm machine gun", it was moved to the fire support ship.

Because there are more 210 mm tubes, in order to be able to reuse waste, China has also specially developed a 5,000-ton fire support ship, equipped with four 210 mm main guns. The prototype of this turret is the MK71 new 203 mm lightweight gun of the original time and space United States, which is lighter than the MK45 127 mm turret, and is even mounted on the 3,000-ton Forrest Sherman-class destroyer.

However, with the advancement of technology, these traditional artillery heavy patrols have become obsolete, and the Wuyi Mountain class is the last level of artillery heavy patrols. Although these ships are also modernized and equipped with missiles. But after all, the foundation is there, and no matter how you change it, the performance is limited.

So Wen Deji didn't want to waste too many resources on the old cruisers, which is why China only built eight heavy cruisers during the naval holiday.

After the naval holiday, a new generation of heavy cruisers was put on the agenda, this level of heavy cruisers is the reference of the 055 type and the Russian Kirov type, and its main purpose is to serve as the "chief of guard" of the aircraft carrier formation, the core pillar of anti-aircraft firepower. At the same time, it also has a strong independent combat capability and can be used as the main force in low-intensity naval battles.

This is the Kunlunshan-class heavy cruiser, the first batch of 4 ships started in February 1938. The shape of the Kunlun Mountain class is similar to the 055 type of the later generations but larger, with a standard row of 18,100 tons and a full row of 22,500 tons. In order to save money, the Kunlun class adopts a similar design to the Shanghai class, and it has two versions, in addition to the nuclear-powered Kunlun Mountain class, there is also a conventionally powered version - the "Taishan class".

There is no way, as long as the word "nuclear" is touched, the cost is at least two or three times more expensive than the conventional goods of the same level. If all of them are made into nuclear power, they will not be able to make dumplings happily. The Taishan-class power system is 4 gas turbines, fully electrically driven, with a maximum speed of 33 knots. Except for the endurance, the performance of the two types of heavy cruises is similar.

"Mr. Wen, I think that a large cruiser like this can completely replace a battleship, the battleships before 1910 are not ......as big as them," Shi Ziren visited the warship with great interest, and asked Wen Desi.

Wen Desi nodded: "Of course, we will not build more battleships in the future, and the Shenzhou-class is the last type of battleship in our country." In the future, it will be the era of aircraft carriers and missiles, and a large cruiser like this will be enough......"

In fact, according to Wen Desi's original idea, he didn't want to build a battleship after the naval holiday. But in the end, he gave in to the facts. In the end, it was agreed to build the six battleships of the Zheng He class, as well as the two Shenzhou-class battleships that had just been launched.

There are two main reasons for this, the first is to bring people into the ditch and let the navies of various countries have a better time. The second is to take into account the emotional needs of the people and the need to deter foreign countries. There is no way, now is not the afterlife, no matter how good the aircraft carrier is, it has not been recognized by the public. You just want to send the aircraft carrier out to deter others, and people don't know how good this thing is, and how useful it is? This is the fearlessness of the ignorant, and it is impossible for Wen Deji to be brainwashed by everyone.

For the vast majority of people in this era, an aircraft carrier with few guns may not be as deterrent as a heavy cruiser. Or the thick barrel of the battleship is more intimidating. So whether it's for the masses of foreign countries or China, if you send a battleship out and you send an aircraft carrier out, the concept is absolutely different.

Of course, this is not to say that battleships are really useless, and the exit of any kind of weapon is not completed all at once. After modernization, modification and missileization, China's pile of battleships will be able to fight for at least another 30 years. After World War II, everyone can also realize that in the future, aircraft carriers will be the real main force at sea, and then they will complete their historical mission.

In the world of the future, cruisers will be enough. If you really want to send out battleships, you can also pull Zheng He-class or Shenzhou-class out?

Next, they visited the other ships in the outfitting. The outfitting dock of Guangzhou Shipyard is very large, which can provide 22 berths of 3,000 tons to 100,000 tons at the same time, and can outfit.

The "Heilongjiang-class" light cruiser is actually a shrunken version of the Taishan-class, with a standard displacement of 10,500 tons, or an enlarged version of the "052D". Because their appearance doesn't look much different from "052D". This model will be used to replace the old Minjiang and Fuchunjiang classes.
