If the monk fails to reach the rumored third step, he can only wait silently for the five decays to come, and will eventually be swept away by the waves and gradually disappear into history. Only by reaching the third step can we truly free ourselves from the shackles of longevity. Otherwise, they will have to wait for death to come.
