Explanation of the Ancient One (Part I)
In view of the fact that everyone has some questions about the ancient one, I will explain it here in a unified manner. Because there will be a charge for chapter testimonials of more than 1,000 words, I split them into two answers.
1. What version of the Ancient One is this?
Answer: Generally, the same people who write Marvel (referring to the world view that does not involve the X-Men) basically default to the most famous Marvel Cinematic Universe, or at least the main body is the image of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and then attach some settings in the comics on this basis.
It's like Marvel fanfiction writing Tony Stark at the beginning, everyone's first reaction is the face of Robert Downey Jr., right? I don't think there is any book that specifically states "what is this and what universe is Iron Man" at the beginning, and even if there is, it is very rare.
Therefore, this book is mainly based on the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and a few comic books are added, and the Ancient One is basically the Ancient One of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and then made minor modifications based on the Ancient One in other Marvel works.
2. Does an absolute point in time exist?
Answer: At least in the eyes of the ancient one, there is. The setting of absolute time point comes from Marvel's series "What If", in which the ancient one believes that once the absolute time point is modified, the universe will collapse and perish, and Doctor Strange in it did cause the universe to collapse after modifying the absolute time point.
And the perspective and lines given to the observer in the play show that from the perspective of the existence of the observer, the setting of absolute time also exists.
So this isn't a concept I made up in order to deliberately discredit the ancient one.,It's normal for me to write the same people and use the original setting.,If you think the absolute time point is not good.,That's also Marvel's problem...... In fact, American comics do often have various settings that are more confusing and even fight with each other.
3. Will the character of the ancient one insist on killing people because of the absolute point in time?
Answer: In the episode "What If", after Gu Yi found that he couldn't change Doctor Strange's mind, he shot directly at Doctor Strange, very decisively and without hesitation.
The magic attack he unleashed caused a big explosion, and the mage in it was still mortal in strength except for the spell, which was definitely enough to kill. If you don't want to kill Doctor Strange and just want to bind him, why doesn't the Ancient One use binding spells?
So Gu Yi will kill people because of the absolute point in time, and he will not show mercy even in the face of Doctor Strange, let alone Gaoli?
And since the Ancient One felt that modifying the absolute point in time would lead to the destruction of the universe, and the Time Gem could not reverse this extinction, why didn't he, as a Supreme Mage, take action to solve this problem? Is it the duty of the Supreme Master to watch the whole play?
I don't know why many people think that the character of the Ancient One doesn't care about anything, and for any reason it won't make him really want to make a move, as the duty of the Supreme Mage is to eliminate the factors that threaten humanity, otherwise the Ancient One will be derelict in his duties.
