CHAPTER XXXI
"And I already know what that thing might be!" Miss Kit walked over and stood about two feet away from me and Miss Kriya.
"What is it? You didn't even tell me! I looked at her and couldn't understand why Miss Genius was reluctant to tell me.
"How do you know!" Kriya clearly doesn't believe in Miss Kit's abilities.
"Actually, Miss Chris's relics have already told us, it's the album!" Miss Kit said, and took the album out of her small bag.
"But an album doesn't prove anything!" I asked Miss Kit in a fog.
"You don't think it's just a picture book! In fact, there is a mezzanine between each page, and in the middle of the mezzanine there are a lot of photographs, which is why Miss Chris is so nervous when she hears about the album. Miss Kit looked sharply at Miss Kriya.
"So, what clues did you find through those photos?" I calmed down and said word by word to Miss Kit. She's a genius to be so careful about what she observes.
"The clue I found was that almost every photograph in the first half of the album featured these three men: the late Miss Chris, Miss Kriya, and an old and kind man. I guess that man must be your maternal grandfather or grandfather! And with a smile on each of your faces, you must be happy when you're together. Miss Kit reasoned with relish while looking at Miss Kriya with pity.
"Yes, Miss Detective! This old man is my grandfather! But does that prove anything? Miss Kryaya bit her lip and turned pale (though her face was already white and bloodless), as if she remembered some bad memory.
"This doesn't prove mysterious, so let's move on. This is the first half, let's take a look at the second half. The second half is noticeably less happier than the first half, and there are four people: you sisters and your parents, with a portrait of your grandfather hanging behind them. Miss Kit's compassion was palpable.
Neither Miss Kriya nor I spoke, just quietly listened to Miss Kit's reasoning. In the back garden, apart from the birdsong, only the sound of Miss Kit is talking.
"I guess my grandfather's death hit you hard!" Miss Kit asked her.
"Yes, except for my grandfather, no one in our family treats me as a human being! Once upon a time, my sister and I were the best sisters in the world. We played together, learned together, played the harp together. My grandfather loved me and my sister very much.
Everyone treated me as a victim of politics, and even my parents, who hoped to rely on me to climb into the rich and powerful, actually wanted me to marry a girl under the age of 15 to someone I had never met, even someone who was about to enter the earth, only my grandfather treated me as an ordinary girl. I don't need to be ladylike and temperamental in front of my grandfather, I can be myself. But then he died, and before he died, my grandfather told me this secret word and told me to find what he had left me!
Kriya was a little out of control as she spoke.
"So what else are you hiding from us? Kriya? Miss Kit and I said in unison, and I shook my head, sympathetic to her plight.
"And one more, that is, I will soon be buried in the ground!" Miss Kriya clearly didn't want to say anything about it.
"What!"
