Chapter 41. The digital age

Despite the improved sharpness of Ricoh cameras, film machines themselves are doomed to obsolescence. The cost of photography is high, it cannot be seen, and it is niche.

Therefore, it is inevitable that it will be replaced by digital cameras.

Of course, at this point, I can make irresponsible remarks with hindsight, just like the keyboard warriors that can be seen everywhere today.

After knowing the answer, if you go back and point with your finger behind your back, the people of that era will definitely be more than superior.

Therefore, the most powerful people in the world are those keyboard warriors who evaluate the existing results, because in the face of not only him, but the results that everyone knows, the process of extrapolating the process will definitely allow these people to find the mistakes or mistakes of the decision-makers at that time. And then they will go on to say how it should be or how it should be according to them, and what the outcome will be!

Yes, how it will definitely be.

Therefore, it cannot be said from the perspective of hindsight how wrong Kodak was to license digital image sensor technology to a competitor, Sony, at the time at the time by management decision.

In short, the end result was the advent of digital cameras, which opened the door to the digital age.

I'm always looking for something new, and I started to get excited when I heard the news.

Friends who know me know that I don't smoke, rarely drink, don't play mahjong, don't like new clothes, etc., and some people always joke that you must have saved a lot of money.

Actually, everyone misunderstood.

The absence of those bad habits does not mean that I am pure-hearted, I really like to buy things "chaotically", and the reason why I put a quotation mark on the chaos is because this is what my wife said.

When I encounter something I like, I always try my best to get it, and my hobbies are too extensive, resulting in a lot of things I like, so I unconsciously have a lot of things at home, and I can't get down the upper and lower floors (Mrs. said).

For example, your favorite books, your favorite paper, pen, ink, inkstone, your favorite tools, your favorite electronic products, your favorite furniture, and so on.

The advent of digital cameras naturally fascinated me.

The heart turned into action, gritted his teeth and bought one.

The earliest digital cameras I bought only had a triple physical zoom and had very low pixels.

Here are two common senses for Xiaobai's classmates, and the master can go around.

The first is zoom common sense.

There are two main types of zoom: physical zoom (also called optical zoom) and digital zoom. In layman's terms, physical zoom is like a telescope, which can make the distant scene still very clear, so that the photo can be magnified without any problem. Digital zoom is to make a picture larger through software, which is clearer on the surface, but if you want to zoom in again, it will make the scene very empty, that is to say, digital zoom cannot guarantee the clarity of the long view.

So only physical zoom makes sense, digital zoom is useless at all.

The second is pixel common sense.

Many people buy cameras or mobile phones and put pixels first. In fact, the pixel has nothing to do with the clarity of the photo, only with the size of the photo. In other words, if it's just a one-inch photo, basically any camera can shoot clearly. Pixel size means that the photo is still sharp after being put very large.

For example, the huge billboard on the side of the road, the picture on the top requires a particularly large pixel, otherwise the low-pixel things will become a picture composed of small grids after being enlarged to such a large size, and it is impossible to see what it is at all.

So unless there is a special professional need, it doesn't make sense to buy a mobile phone or something just because of hundreds of millions of pixels and spend more money.

The first digital camera I bought wasn't very useful.

This is because I still think of a film camera when I hold a digital camera, and I always think that printing out photos is called taking pictures, and storing them in a computer is not a photo at all.

At that time, I was definitely not the only one who thought so, and in this respect alone, I couldn't catch up with the keyboard warriors of later generations, because they would tell me that the photos taken by the digital camera should be stored in the computer, and they would also tell me that the photos taken by the digital camera could be photoshopped, which was more advantageous than traditional photos.

I admire the current keyboard warriors, they are really slightly more intelligent than me 25 years ago, and naturally they have a little more knowledge now than I did back then. Some of them are better than the instructors when they crossed the Chishui River, and some of them are better than the world's top 100 leaders in terms of business talents. They are only good at strategy, and they are better than Ma Jian in this regard.

When I wanted to print out the photos from my digital camera, I faced a problem, that is, at that time, printer technology was not as convenient as it is now, and the cost of printing a photo paper was very high, which was much more expensive than washing photos.

I remember using HP inkjet printers at the beginning. A set of ink cartridges is connected by four small ink cartridges, red, yellow and blue primary colors plus black, which can be adjusted to most of the required colors.

The design of the ink cartridge is as long as one of the colors is not there (or even just missing), regardless of how many other three colors there are, the entire set of ink cartridges plus the inkjet printer head integrated into the ink cartridge are all scrapped, and must be replaced with a new black box (the printer of the year was only a few hundred yuan, extremely cheap, but a set of ink cartridges also cost a few hundred yuan, I remember that it seems that three sets of ink cartridges can buy a new printer), this brain-dead design still makes Scorpio me resentful until many years later, At that time, I felt that such a company would definitely not go too far.

Now the facts also prove this, and there are almost no HP printers in the computer city.

Causal cycles.

That digital camera was bought in 1998. At that time, mobile phones were still in the era of receiving and sending text messages, and even if they advanced later and appeared with color screens, it was just colorful numbers that appeared on the display screen when the screen buttons were pressed. By the time the snake came out, it was already very close to modern mobile phones.

Therefore, after taking pictures with the digital camera I bought back then, I basically did not develop any use except for being able to look at it on the computer. I've forgotten what I used to shoot with it.

However, just because it took this photo, I thought it was worth it.

However, just because it took this photo, I thought it was worth it.

This elaborate photograph was printed out by me and then preserved by my wife with great care, saying that it was not very elaborate, because she folded out an imprint.

At that time, there was no concept of P-map, and I was able to make such a design, and the concept should definitely be very advanced. After looking at the photos of that year, I understood why my daughter always asked Mrs. how her father chased you back then.

In fact, I was also very ┄┄ back then (thirty-six idioms are omitted here)

Forget it, there is no lightning rod prepared.

Now I realize that some things come with a certain mission. I don't know where this digital camera, which has fulfilled its historical mission.

The second digital camera is the Canon Powershot A610.

This camera was specially bought by my daughter when she was very young so that she could stay in various activities she participated in, and recorded many wonderful moments when her daughter was a child.

This photo must be kept to see how the daughter bullied her brother when she was a child.

During this period, there is also a Sony Digital with similar performance to this one. I was once taken by my wife to accompany my mother in Xincun to travel to Sanya, Hainan.

The machine has added a new detection function that can detect whether a person's eyes are closed, and the function is starting to get more and more powerful. Of course, sometimes this function is not perfect, and sometimes it will be a false positive, which can no longer be written down, and it is easy to offend people.

In fact, from my earliest contact with Seagull cameras to the first digital camera until Sony Digital, all my starting points, whether consciously or unconsciously, are to take pictures of people, in order to record the movements of family or friends, which will be discussed in detail in the next section of "Layman Says Photography".

I began to really investigate and decided to buy a SLR camera after August 2015, and the reason why I remember it so clearly is that I deduced it after a long time of WeChat Moments.

At that time, I picked up paintings that I had been throwing away for several years, and because I had been taking the creative route, I wanted to buy a DSLR camera to collect materials for my paintings.

Among my limited strengths, strong execution can definitely be among them.

I thought of it, and immediately took the time to go to Saltu and went to the SLR camera store to consult.

I went to a Canon camera store.

Why do I remember it so clearly is because as soon as I entered the store, I saw a very large and long white lens in a more conspicuous display case, and the owner enthusiastically introduced that this was the XXXX shot endorsed by Jackie Chan, I didn't remember it.

After talking for less than a minute, the shopkeeper bluntly told you that you don't know anything now, I can't introduce it to you, you should first understand what a SLR is and then talk about the next step.

Frustrated, I had no choice but to go home.

After thinking about it for a while, I decided to buy the cheapest one to practice first.

My brother-in-law, whom I call "Sister Demon", learned the news and "lent" me the Canon 6D he bought (I realized that the camera I had used for eight or nine years was his), along with the 24-105 and 70-300 lenses.

When I first got my hands on it, I felt too tall for those M, P, AV, TV, aperture, shutter, exposure, color temperature, ISO compensation, etc. At that time, I really didn't know where to start.

I tried it a few times, but I thought it was too cumbersome, so I left it at home for more than a year.

It wasn't until my daughter went to Cambridge and moved more that she started picking it up again.

Another advantage of being limited is that no matter what, as soon as I decide to study, I start working hard.

Learn from scratch.

Familiar with one file at a time, try one aperture at a time, and practice the same.

There are also various scenes: running a marathon, performing in a theater, taking physical education classes, doing experiments┄┄ Seeing what activities they have recently started to focus on. Each scene is studied to see how to take the best picture. Fortunately, I don't need film to practice this.

Slowly, I was finally able to capture some dynamic images clearly and skillfully. On May 18, 2018, my daughter and I carefully selected 126 representative photos of her high school and wrote the article "Cassie ~ Cambridge Second Anniversary Through the Lens".

In April, the peach butterfly dance, the lilacs are in full bloom, and they are full of vitality!

As we approached May, Cassie and I had more than one discussion about how we could look back on our two years in Cambridge! In the end, we agreed that it would be better to show the years we have passed in the past two years in the form of photos......

From these 126 photos, looking at my daughter's heartfelt smile, I feel that all the words are pale!

Volunteer service at the 100 Lakes Race for World University Students!

There are many, many more, and I have practiced my photography skills while shooting these events. So much so that when I accompanied my daughter to participate in the volunteer service at the Hundred Lakes Race of the World University Dragon Boat Race, the photos I took casually won an award in the city.

It was the first time I had won an award at a municipal film festival, and even though it was only a finalist, it was very difficult for me at the time.

There's a hiccup in it. Because there are always people who praise me for being talented, my wife always dismisses me when she hears about it, saying that talent can't be eaten. As a result, the prize this time was 16 pounds of rice. When I got home, I asked her in the villain's way, didn't you say that you shouldn't eat, didn't you say it this time!

A certificate of award and a prize of 16 pounds of rice!?

The award-winning work "Grinding Guns in Battle"!

These photos of her daughter participating in the event taken in Canon 6D are just the beginning, and they will surely shine even more exciting in the future.

Thankfully, my daughter has also slowly fallen in love with the camera.

She has a very important advantage - hard work, definitely follow me.

Photographing lotus flowers in sweat under the scorching sun.

Pots of chrysanthemums are tirelessly illuminated.

I served her with a visor on the side.

The chrysanthemum she photographed won the third prize.

Later, he also became the president of the photography club at the school.

This is the most gratifying inheritance for us as parents.

With the increasing power of mobile phones, the camera function continues to break through. The resulting photos are getting clearer and more perfect.

I don't know if it will completely replace digital cameras in the future, but now I see this trend.

Always change the new peach for the old charm and get used to it slowly.

In any case, the simplicity of mobile phones alone has many advantages over digital cameras.

Digital cameras are too finely divided.

There is a special lens for shooting birds, a special prime lens for portraits, a macro lens for shooting small insects, and a wide-angle lens for local villains...... Different scenes use different lenses, no wonder people say that photography is poor for three generations, and SLR regrets a lifetime.

These shots alone can drive people crazy.

And the biggest advantage of mobile phones is that everyone can pick them up anytime, anywhere and capture what they think is a wonderful moment.

For example, the wildflowers that can be seen everywhere on the roadside, find a good perspective, take pictures and save them.

But the same scenery is beautifully illuminated by some people, and by others it is unsatisfactory.

Something must have gone wrong. What could be the problem?

Listen to what the layman has to say.
