Then, Zhang Daocheng said to Zhang Shaofei: "You have to grasp the cause as soon as possible, it is not easy to be reborn as a person, and it is even more difficult to smell the Dharma. If you don't practice Buddhism, you will get rid of life and death, and when impermanence comes, you will regret it too late! Your wisdom is so good, don't miss your chance! ”
Zhang Daocheng knew the reason and gave him silver, which took a firm first step for Zhang Shaofei to go north to Dongshan Zen Temple in Huangmei, Hubei Province to study Buddhism.
This Daocheng is really generous, he is very generous, he took out a piece of silver, and said: "There is a way to give a sword to a strong man, and a beautiful woman with red powder, the old man is willing to give up this dreamy empty money today to help you achieve the supreme Bodhi Dao karma!" ”
In ancient times, an ingot of silver was worth ten taels.
These ten taels of silver are not a small amount, if you do a small business, you can open a shop for four or five taels, let alone ten taels!
This shows that Zhang Daocheng admired Zhang Shaofei's wisdom and conduct so much, and the support and cultivation of talents by the ancients was also thought-provoking.
But such a large amount, at that time, how dare Zhang Shaofei accept it!
Let's listen to what Zhang Daocheng said to Zhang Shaofei at that time:
"After life, money is something outside the body, you don't bring it in life, you don't take it in death, I use it to help you learn the great cause of the Buddha, and I can also benefit from it!"
Zhang Daocheng saw that Zhang Shaofei was a little tempted, and further said: "Hou Shengzi, you are using this money to cultivate the Tao, cultivate, and save sentient beings, and it is not for your own private affairs, why do you have to distinguish between each other?" If you can afford the old man, bring this money, if you are afraid that the old man is stupid and mediocre, and you are afraid that the old man will trouble you in the future, then you will not accept it. ”
Zhang Shaofei saw that Zhang Daocheng was so sincere, and said everything to this point, if he shirked again, it would be disrespectful.
However, if you accept it, you will feel ashamed.
Zhang Shaofei took the silver two in a dilemma, looked at Zhang Daocheng deeply, and said gratefully: "Shopkeeper Zhang, if, one day, if you become a Buddha, I will definitely repay you." ”
Zhang Daocheng smiled at Zhang Shaofei and said earnestly: "Ah Fei, the old man is generous, I don't want you to reciprocate, in Buddhism, this is called charity without emptiness." The old man respects your wisdom and cherishes you as a rare talent, so he gives you two silver to help you seek the Dharma. If the old man can't remember you and today's events as a person after today, why should you take this matter to heart? Hurry back and arrange your family affairs and enter the Buddha as soon as possible to seek the Dharma! If you can find the Great Dao, purify the crowd, and pull out all sentient beings from destruction, it will be the best reward for me. ”
Ladies and gentlemen, listen, this elder who does not want to repay his kindness is really a rare righteous gentleman and a scholar.
First of all, this kind of charity is what ordinary people think of as charity and giving, but in fact, all the acts of sacrificing oneself and benefiting others are called generosity. It is not difficult to give, but it is difficult to be empty. For example, giving money to others:
First, don't see in you the self who can give, and don't think that your willingness to give money to others is great, and keep it in your heart, this is called the empty self who can give.
Second, don't look outside to the recipient of the almsgiving, and don't think that you are willing to give something to others, because others have received your favor, and this means that the object of the giving is empty.
Third, let you not see the money that is given in the middle, so that the money you give is empty.
These three points must be empty, so that the body is empty, and the heart is pure, without a trace. Think about it, can ordinary people do this kind of giving?
If this can be done, it is enough to eliminate the sins of a thousand calamities, and doumi can also sow immeasurable blessings!
If you give to others and do not forget it, give kindness and try to repay it, and give up your possessions and feel distressed, it is ten thousand taels of gold, and it can only be called half-good.
Zhang Daocheng can do the body-empty without phase giving, which is indeed rare!
Some people complain that they don't get good for doing good, and so-and-so doesn't get bad retribution for doing evil.
In fact, there are many differences between accumulating good things, and we must do further understanding, otherwise we will often think that we are doing good, but in fact we are doing evil.
Generally speaking, if it is beneficial to the crowd, it is considered good to beat and scold others, and if it is for one's own selfish interests, it is to respect others and be courteous to others, which is also considered evil.
In the world, the goodness of benefiting others is the true goodness, and the goodness of self-interest is the false goodness.
Kindness must be sincere and natural, and don't keep it in mind afterwards, then, although it is a small kindness, it can also achieve successful results;
If you have an intention to do good, give kindness in retribution, and give up your possessions and feel distressed, then you will only be half-good for the rest of your life. Therefore, true kindness is really hard to do.
Some people say that they have a good heart, say that they are kind, after listening to this paragraph, you are right with yourself, is your heart good?
There is such a kind of person who is good to friends and fellow villagers when he is away, but he is not good to his parents when he goes home, and he always quarrels with his parents.
Think about it, it's not good for your own parents, but good for others, is that true? He has a purpose!
"The Book of Filial Piety" says, "Those who do not love their relatives, but love others, it is said to be contrary to morality", you do not love your relatives, do not respect your parents, to respect others, you violate the morality and etiquette of life.
There was a girl who quarreled with her mother and ran away from home in anger. Halfway there, she was hungry and saw a noodle stall on the side of the avenue, the wonton noodles were fragrant, and she wanted to buy a bowl, but she was in a hurry and forgot to bring the money.
She stood in front of the noodle stall, and the owner of the stall saw her distress and cooked a bowl of wonton noodles for her to eat.
The girl ate half of it, wept bitterly, and said, "Boss, you are so good, we don't know each other, I just passed by here, and you are so kind to give me a bowl." However, my own mother was so cruel in her heart, I just quarreled with her, and she kicked me out of the house, and I really hated her! ”
After hearing this, the owner of this noodle stall shook his head and said, "Son, you don't think this way, you call it ungrateful." I just cooked a bowl of noodles for you, and you were grateful, but how many bowls of noodles your mother cooked for you and cooked for you over the past ten years, why didn't you appreciate her and hate her? ”
When the girl heard this, her conscience was discovered. I thought: That's what the owner of this noodle stall said! I was moved to tears when a stranger gave me a bowl of noodles, but my mother had cooked countless meals for me for more than ten years, and I had never been grateful to her and hated her. She cherished and cared for me in every way, never asked for my return, just paid silently, but why can't I be grateful to my mother?
The girl was so ashamed that she wanted to go home and say sorry to her mother right away.
She put down the bowl and ran to the house crying bitterly.
But before she got home, when she walked to the alley in front of the house, she saw her mother looking anxiously and waiting for her to come back.
When her mother saw her, she hurriedly said, "Son, you are back, your mother has prepared a meal, you should go into the house and eat, otherwise it will be cold." ”
The girl wept bitterly and hugged her mother, and her heart of gratitude was born.
The purpose of this example is to tell the reader that if you want to have good luck and a good fate, then you should honor your parents.
You are very grateful for a stranger's kindness to you, but have you ever been grateful for the kindness of your parents to you for many years?
Many bosses advocate that their employees go home to wash their parents' feet, the purpose is to remind people of this grateful heart and this filial piety.
When you wash your parents' feet, you see that their feet are covered with wrinkles and calluses, and you feel grateful.
For many years, parents have stepped out of their children's future with their own feet, but sent away their youth.
So as a person, it is too undeserved not to honor one's parents. "The Book of Filial Piety" says that "filial piety is to the gods, light is in the four seas, and everything is all-encompassing". "Filial piety comes first". From ancient times to the present, because of filial piety, there are many people who have gained glory and wealth and received great blessings; Because of unfilial piety, there are many people who suffer from misfortune.
If you want to be lucky, you must be filial to your parents and your elders.
Just saying that a good deed like Zhang Daocheng who wants nothing is true goodness, and it is his true kindness that saved the life of his only son, and we will explain it in detail later. However, here is a young man who greatly reveals a secret to the reader, that is, being a good person takes advantage, because the good deeds that do not ask for reciprocation will often get the greatest reward. But this reward is not necessarily the beneficiary's reward, but an ultimate reward. A good person who really doesn't ask for anything in return will often get the greatest reward. But this return is slow.
In the long run, the income from doing good deeds and being a good person will far outweigh the expenses, and if you do good deeds and want to be rewarded immediately, then all you get is a kind of disappointment. Please believe that what Eleven Shao said is definitely a secret from heaven.
Some people may say that Zhang Daocheng must be a rich man, and it is not easy for people who have no money to do some good deeds.
There are many ways to practice good and accumulate virtue, and anyone can do it.
A loving person can care for others in all aspects, not necessarily with money. For example, if you are surrounded by a person who has fallen for the sake of profit, you should always remind and warn him so that he can be relieved of his confusion.
Han Yu said, "Persuade people to use their mouths for a while, and persuade people to use books for a hundred generations." When you encounter a disaster for others, you should try your best to comfort and help as if you were a disaster, even if it is a sympathetic heart, it is also immeasurable. Grace is not great, it is precious to save people in danger, and it is important to be considerate of people's hearts.
The story of Zhongshan Jun and Sima Ziqi illustrates this point. Once, Zhongshan Jun wanted to feast the scholars and doctors in the city, and there was a scholar named Sima Ziqi, who also came to the banquet with great interest in brocade clothes.
At the banquet, all the scholars and doctors talked loudly, each showing their talents and wisdom.
During the banquet, the chef brought the steaming mutton soup, and Zhongshan Jun smiled and persuaded the doctors to taste it, but they didn't care about persuading Sima Ziqi.
These people, who were persuaded by Zhongshan Jun to drink and eat, felt that their faces were radiant and very happy.
However, Sima Ziqi felt that he was left out in the cold, and before the banquet was over, he left angrily, and went to Chu to count the many evils of Zhongshan Jun to the king of Chu, and stirred up the king of Chu to send troops to attack Zhongshan.
The king of Chu really listened to Sima Ziqi's words, sent a large group of soldiers and horses, with Sima Ziqi as a guide, and the army reached Zhongshan Kingdom, and for a time the soldiers came to the city, forcing Zhongshan Jun to flee in a hurry.
On the way to escape, he found two big men behind him, carrying steel knives, closely following.
Zhongshan Jun was even more flustered, panicked, he ran to a half-mountain hill, there was no way in front of him, he had to be bold, turned around and shouted: "Stop, you are holding sharp blades close together, what are you doing?" ”
The two big men hurriedly stepped forward and knelt down for him: "Don't be surprised, the king, we are here to protect the king by our father's orders." When our father was dying of starvation, it was the king who gave him a bowl of rice to bring him back to life. Over the years, our father has been grateful for your kindness, and on his deathbed he called us brothers to his bedside and told us that if you are in trouble, we brothers should come and protect him with our lives. Today, in accordance with our father's will, we brothers have come to protect the King. ”
After hearing this, Zhongshan Jun looked up to the sky and sighed: "It seems that there are not many things to give to others, and the important thing is to send warmth when he is extremely difficult; It is not a matter of indifference to others, but the important thing is not to hurt his dignity in public. I lost my country because of a cup of mutton soup, but I got two loyal warriors because of a bowl of rice. "This story tells us that small causes have big effects.
