Chapter 250: The Battle of the Wind Banner (Part II)

There was a burst of discussion in the main hall.

Suddenly, in the corner, a very confident person, with a very loud voice, said loudly: "I think that it is neither the wind nor the flags, but the hearts of the two mages!" ”

This person's words were like a boulder falling into a deep pool, and the layers of ripples aroused quickly rippled in everyone's hearts.

Master Yinzong, who had been listening to the debate with his eyes closed, opened his eyes widely, and his keen gaze captured a middle-aged man with extraordinary manners, full of heroism and vicissitudes.

This middle-aged man is none other than Huineng!

At the same time, the eyes of everyone in the audience were focused on him.

Huineng stood up unhurriedly and said, "If it is a person who cannot see, hear, speak, or think, does he know the existence of wind flags or mountains, rivers and earths?" Whether it was the wind or the flags, whether they moved or not, it had nothing to do with him. Without inner activity, the existence of all things becomes a thing that has no connection with man. Therefore, I say that it is not the wind that moves, nor the flags, but the hearts of the two masters. ”

Master Yinzong is also a senior monk who has personally seen the Five Ancestors Hongren, and Daoyan understands that just by listening to these words, he knows that the male layman in front of him who is speaking is extraordinary.

The so-called wind movement and banner movement are essentially the relationship between the mind and the environment. The wind is the environment, and the flag is the guest dust.

Therefore, Shakyamuni Buddha said, "There is a cause for the birth of the world, and there is a cause for the destruction of the world." "Buddhism is the Dharma of dependent arising, and its highest wisdom lies in revealing the true meaning of life in the universe – dependent arising voidness.

The Buddha also said: There is a reason for this, and there is a reason for this life; There is no reason for this, and there is no reason for this, and there is no reason for this. Everything in the universe is born of causes, and they arise from each other, depend on each other, condition each other, and precondition each other, that is, cause and effect each other.

For example, if there is only wind and flags, or there are only flags, there will be no phenomenon of wind flags dancing; Or the flag, though it is there, is not hung high on the flagpole, and no amount of wind can blow it; Or the banner was raised, but the wind did not blow here, but in other places, so that there was no scene of the banner fluttering.

So, it's not the wind, it's not the flag. Why is the heart moving?

The Three Realms are idealistic, and the Ten Thousand Laws are only knowledgeable. When the mind is born, all kinds of laws are born, and when the heart is destroyed, all kinds of laws are destroyed. Movement, good and evil, beauty and ugliness, good and bad...... All the contradictions and antagonisms in the world are forcibly separated by those of us according to our own likes and dislikes, interests, and so on.

Therefore, the emergence of all disputes and all contradictions is also the result of our trade-off of different values.

Who's right and who's wrong?

There is nothing in the world, and mediocrity disturbs itself.

Huineng has already realized in real life that the environment is created by the heart, the law is born from the heart, and everything is the role of our hearts. So, today he said: It is not the wind that moves, it is not the banner that moves, but the heart.

I don't know when, Ying Xing came to Huineng's side, and he said in a daze: "I know you." I've known you for a long time. ”

Huineng smiled kindly and asked, "When have you seen me?" ”

Everyone is looking forward to Ying Xing being able to tell the origin of this inconspicuous but extraordinary person.

But Ying Xing said, "I saw you in a dream. ”

"Shhh

At this time, the old monk suddenly said, "How do you know that we are excited?" You're not me, how do you know if my heart can't move? ”

Then, the old monk said intriguingly: "Zhuangzi and Huizi once played on the bridge in Haoshui, and Zhuangzi was very envious of the happiness of fish. Keiko asked him, Κ» You are not a fish, how do you know the happiness of fish? ΚΌZhuangzi replied, Κ»You are not me, how do you know that I don't know the joy of fish? ΚΌ"The old monk skillfully used the age-old wit of Zhuangzi here.

Everyone felt that there was a lot of excitement, and they all looked at Huineng and waited for him to answer.

Huineng calmly replied: "Because, you and this little master have enlightened mind, Buddha nature, and all living beings have Buddha nature......

Ying Xing interrupted Huineng's words: "Wrong! Human beings have human nature, and only Buddhas have Buddha nature. ”

Huineng asked him, "You don't believe you have Buddha nature?" ”

The infant shook his head: "Of course I don't believe it." I want to have Buddha nature, I will become a Buddha long ago! Still grinding your teeth here? ”

Huineng suddenly raised his slap and made a gesture to beat the baby.

The little baby fled in a hurry and tripped over the futon, looking even more embarrassed than if he had been beaten.

Everyone laughed, and the old monk was even more happy.

Ying Xing sat on the ground with a sad face, pointed at Huineng and said, "You look good, your heart is really bad!" I, I, I thought you were ......"

"Who am I?" Huineng asked with a smile.

"Forget it, you're not anyway." People are confused by the baby's headless and mindless words.

Huineng pulled up the baby and asked with a smile, "Why did you dodge just now?" ”

Ying Xing spread his hands, looked at Huineng, and said, "If you want to hit me, can I not dodge!" ”

Huineng continued, "But, did I hit you? How do you know I'm going to hit you? ”

"I, I'm ......" said the baby.

Only then did Hui Neng say seriously: "Because you are afraid of pain, you can predict that I am going to hit you, so you subconsciously dodge, which proves that you have your own nature." Isn't this kind of mind that avoids suffering, seeks liberation, and longs for peace and happiness exactly what we have in our consciousness, our Buddha-nature? ”

Master Yinzong, who had been quietly looking at Huineng, couldn't help but open his eyes a little wider at this time, looked at Huineng for a while, and then closed it tightly for some reason.

Ying Xing danced happily: "Wow, I have Buddha nature!" I'm going to become a Buddha! Me, I...... Why didn't I become a Buddha? ”

Huineng further nodded: "Because you are excited!" The banner moves but the heart does not move, purify its mind, empty its body, and naturally enter the avenue. ”

The baby walked around Huineng and muttered, "I know who you are, I know!" You are ......"

And all the people listened to what was going on.

Who knows, he stood in front of Huineng, but asked people: "Are you?" ”

Everyone thought that Ying Xing's words were nonsensical and unreasonable, but Huineng replied with a smile, and the answer was even more inexplicable: "You think I am, I naturally am." ”

So, the two of them smiled inexplicably, looking very happy.

The old monk was unhappy: "This benefactor, all living beings have Buddha nature, and it has long been said in the "Nirvana Sutra" that this is common sense in Buddhism, what is there to be proud of!" ”

Huineng arched his hand to the people present, and said loudly: "Okay, all the great monks, today's karma is rare, I will simply say a few more words." From the perspective of Buddhism, everything in the universe comes into being because of a cause. The same is true of the fluttering of the flag, which does not move if there is no wind; If there were no flags, no matter how strong the wind was, there would be no flags fluttering. So, I say, it's not the wind, it's not the flag. ”

At this moment, the noise of the crowd suddenly stopped.

I saw Master Yin Zong get down from the high Dharma seat and walk towards Hui Neng.

He bowed deeply to Huineng, and said with a smile on his face: "The walker talks extraordinary, and every sentence is to the point of Zen, he must not be an ordinary person!" It is said that the mantle of the five ancestors of Huangmei has been passed down to the south for more than ten years, could it be that the walker is the master of the six ancestors? ”

Huineng also smiled and returned the salute: "Don't dare." Huineng has met Master Yinzong. ”

Master Yin Zong shouted loudly: "The walker is indeed the Sixth Ancestor Huineng Master, and it is indeed the Sixth Ancestor Huineng who has come out of the mountain!" We have eyes but no beads, please be worshiped by the poor monks! ”

Master Yin Zong knelt on the ground and bowed to Huineng.

Huineng rushed forward, pulled him up, and said: "The rules of Buddhism are that you should only worship and be a monk in your family, how can you bow to me, a family member!" ”

"Why should the Sixth Patriarch be too humble? In the world's etiquette, those who hear the Tao first are teachers; Buddhism rules, those who get the degree early are respected. You are a patriarch of a generation, and we deserve to be taught! ”

The baby didn't care about thirty-seven twenty-one, squeezed over and said brainlessly: "Are you really you?" Huineng smiled: "I am naturally me." ”

"You're the southern barbarian who robbed someone else's robe and golden bowl and ran away without a trace?" Baby Xing happily joked with Huineng.

Master Yinzong shouted: "Baby, don't be rude!" ”

Huineng said generously: "It's okay. In a sense, it was indeed me who robbed someone else's robe and gold bowl. You think, if I don't go to Dongchan Temple, the mantle of my master, the Five Patriarchs, will naturally be passed on to others. ”

Venerable Yin Zong smiled happily and said, "Master Six Patriarchs, please take a seat, and please show me your mantle so that I can wait to burn incense and pray for blessings and wisdom." ”

Huineng was put on the throne. He unwrapped his baggage, took out his robe, and draped it over his body. An inconspicuous robe, an inconspicuous person, however, when the two are combined, Huineng is not the shabby-looking Huineng just now, but becomes a radiant sixth ancestor; As soon as the robe was on Huineng's body, it immediately radiated a brilliant and dazzling light.

The monks and laymen knelt down one after another to admire the spirit of the six ancestors.

Huineng lowered his eyes and closed his eyes, sitting motionless on the throne in the noise, not shocked by honor and disgrace, and forgetting both things and me.
