The scenery is like a dream, the void is like a light smoke, everything seems to be real and illusory, which makes people flutter like immortals...... Suddenly, the Budai monk seemed to hear a faint sound of the sea tide.

The ancients once compared the sound of the Buddha's teachings to the "sound of the sea tide" - the sound is great, such as the sea tide; Those who believe in their words swear like the tide of the sea. The heavenly drum is thoughtless, and it sounds with people; The tide is thoughtless, or you don't lose time.

The sea tide is not different from the season, such as the Buddha and Bodhisattva's unconditional compassion, for all sentient beings to respond to the Dharma.

"Sanskrit sound sea tide sound." Is this faint sound of the sea tide the Buddha's manifestation? However, the Daxiong Hall has not yet been built, and the Buddha statue has not yet been reshaped......

The Budai monk felt that the sound of the tide came from the ancient well. He looked down at the well, where a bright moon swayed.

There is water in thousands of rivers and thousands of rivers and months, and thousands of rounds of water and moons are taken in January.

The rivers, lakes and seas are all water, where is there no water moon at night!

He suddenly thought of the Buddha principle that the Dharma realm is dependent on "being free and infinite": one is everything, and everything is one; There are thousands of worlds, hundreds of worlds are like thousands of worlds, and the Dharma realm is integrated with each other, everything is unhindered, and it is harmonious......

He returned to Xiangshan Port overnight, and asked the crew to throw all the timber they had worked so hard to transport into the vast sea......

This was the first time that the Buddha had returned to his homeland since his enlightenment. He did not return to his hometown in fine clothes, but in rags, barefoot, begging along the streets. However, he was greeted with more enthusiasm than the king's visit, and the people of Kapila rushed out of the city, clasping their hands together and with tears in their eyes, welcoming the return of the Buddha.

Instead of following his father's instructions and living in the palace, the Buddha lived with the monks in the forest outside the city.

One day, a magnificent carriage came to the Buddha's residence, and a noble lady came out of the car, she was the Buddha's aunt, the Buddha's stepmother, and the Buddha's dearest mother.

When she met the Buddha, she took out a glittering golden robe that she had woven with her own handsβ€”a golden robe that only a Buddha could wear. She held it in both hands to the Buddha.

However, Shakyamuni Buddha refused, saying, "Thank you, please give alms to the monks." If you give to the monks, you will have great rewards. ”

Pojapoti emphasized, "However, I have specially woven it for you, Mother! Ever since you left home, whenever I miss you, I have woven gold cloth by hand and embroidered this robe to send my thoughts. It can be said that on this robe, every stitch and thread is soaked with the mother's heart and love. ”

The Buddha was very moved, but he still said, "My mother gave me a robe because she loved me, and this kind of kindness is not extensive. If you give to the monks, you are offering the Three Jewels, and you are also offering to me. The merits of offering to the monks are incredible, so I would like to advise my mother in this way. ”

The Buddha also said, "There are many great arhats and great bodhisattvas in my Sangha, such as Sariputta, Moggallan, Mahakaya, and so on. Offering to them, the wealth is immeasurable. ”

Pojapoti understood the meaning of almsgiving, and her mood suddenly brightened, so she happily offered the golden robe to the monks.

She walked in front of the monks one by one, and no one dared to take this unusually beautiful robe that only a Buddha could deserve.

In the end, Maitreya accepted.

Soon after, the Buddha and his disciples traveled to the country of Paranai, the hometown of Maitreya. However, he was forced to leave his homeland as soon as he was born, so no one here knew him.

On that day, Maitreya wore a gold-threaded robe and went into the city to beg for food.

He was originally the same as the Buddha, with thirty-two appearances, upright facial features, and a purple and golden complexion, which seemed to radiate a soft brilliance.

Now he wears a solemn gold-threaded robe, which is even more brilliant and eye-catching.

He stood beside the Bolo City Avenue and stood in the dervish, he was really radiant, his demeanor was thousands, his majesty was magnificent, and his wonderful pen was difficult to achieve.

The people watched him with joy and admiration, but they forgot to bring him food.

A jeweler happened to pass by here, saw Maitreya's solemn demeanor, admired him very much, and warmly invited him to his home to fast. Maitreya agreed to his request.

The jeweler personally cooked and prepared a beautiful meal for Maitreya.

According to the rules of the Sangha at that time, after receiving the offering of fasting, the bhikshu had to give a lecture to the fasting master.

So, after the meal, Maitreya rinsed his hands and mouth, and ascended to the throne to give a lecture on Buddhism to the jeweler.

Maitreya set out to study Buddhism forty eons earlier than Shakyamuni, and had already practiced for an immeasurable amount of time, so his voice was sweet, his words were beautiful, his reasoning was thorough, and his metaphors were ingenious. It can be said that the sky is falling, and the ground is surging with golden lotus, like a dragon chanting and a phoenix crying, as if heavenly music is singing......

The jeweler is like drinking nectar, like bathing in the spring breeze, drunk and obsessed, listening to it completely fascinated, forgetting the time, forgetting the place, and even forgetting himself.

Today, there is a rich man in the city who wants to marry his daughter, and before that, he asked a jeweler to process a rare moon pearl as a dowry for his daughter. Because this moon pearl is very precious, the processing fee is as high as 100,000.

Originally, the jeweler was supposed to process the moon pearl before noon, but he only cared about preparing the fast for Maitreya and listening to the Dharma, and completely forgot about it.

When the Monopoly sent his servant to fetch the orb, the jeweler listened attentively and said absentmindedly, "You go back first, and I'll process it in a while." ”

The servant was afraid that he would forget it again, so he put the moon pearl in his hand and went home.

The Monopoly man listened to the servant's report and said anxiously: "This jewel is going to be used today, how can it be delayed?" You bring 100,000 processing fees, and if he still doesn't do it, he will ask Yuemingzhu back! ”

The servant came again. However, the jeweler is still listening to Maitreya.

The servant took out a hundred thousand coins that were shining and shining and jingling. Unmoved, however, the jeweler listened intently to Maitreya's teachings.

The servant had no choice but to take the moon pearl back.

The jeweler's wife was very angry when she saw that the money she had received was lost again, and she rushed out of the house and shouted at the jeweler, saying, "You got 100,000 coins just by raising your hands, which is enough to make our family worry about food and clothing for three years." And you just listen to the rhetoric of this shaman (monk) and lose this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to make money! ”

After listening to his wife's words, the jeweler felt that it was important to hear about the Dharma, but also felt that it was a pity to lose the opportunity to make money, and he was very conflicted.

Maitreya knew his mood and said, "Since there is no work to do in the afternoon, can you go back to the ashram with me?" ”

The jeweler also wanted to go out for a walk, so he followed Maitreya back to the ashram.

Maitreya asked the monks, "If a benefactor invites a bhikshu who has taken pure vows to his home to fast, what will happen compared to the 100,000 yuan he will get?" ”

The head of the first five bhikshus in Buddhism, Chenru immediately replied, "If someone receives a hundred carts of treasures, it is not as good as offering a pure bhikshu." ”

Sariputta, the great disciple of the Buddha, said, "If someone gets the property of a state, it is still not as good as asking a strict shaman to come to his house to make offerings." ”

Moggallen, the most powerful of the Buddha's disciples, said, "Even the treasures of the world cannot be compared with the benefits of offering to the pure ordination monks. ”

The rest of the monks spoke one after another, explaining that offering to a pure bhikshu would lead to unimaginable merit.

At this time, Venerable Analu, who was the first in the Heavenly Eye and could see the past and the future, said, "Although there are many treasures in the whole universe, they are far from being comparable to the benefits obtained by offering to the strict martial arts of the Shaman! The reason why I say this is based on facts. ”

"Ninety-one eons ago, after the Buddha Nirvana, when the Dharma was extinguished, I was originally a poor woodcutter who made a living by chopping wood, and because of my kindness, I offered a bowl of rough weeds porridge to a Buddha of the Buddha. Unexpectedly, he immediately received immeasurable merit. In that lifetime, I was worshiped by the king as a minister, rich and glorious, and enjoyed inexhaustible. After that, all the lives and tribulations, I lacked nothing. In this life, before I became a monk, I was always kind and leisurely, and my brother Mahasan was very jealous, but my mother said that I was born with good fortune. The Maha man was not convinced, and when I was supervising the work in the field, he covered the empty bowl and bowl with a tarpaulin and sent it to the field. However, when he uncovered the tarpaulin, he was stunned by the fact that the empty bowl was already full of delicacies...... You see, I have offered a small amount of weeds porridge to the Buddha, and my merits have never decreased since the ninety-one eons of eons. And with this merit, I was able to meet Shakyamuni Buddha, attain the status of an arhat, and be free from the sea of suffering forever. ”

When the jeweler heard this, he rejoiced and became a humble layman, often making offerings to the Three Jewels.

Later, Maitreya presented the golden robe, which symbolizes the lineage of Buddhism, to the Buddha. You know, in the first place, the reason why he accepted this robe was not to covet its magnificence, but to achieve the merits of the monk provided by Pajapa.

The Budai monk said, "Of course, it was transported back to Yuelin Temple." ”

The cloth bag monk deliberately teased him and said, "You are not a roundworm in my stomach, how do you know what is in it?" ”

The little novice said, "You have too much lying in your belly, so you stretch your belly wide." ”

The cloth bag monk smiled and didn't care.

The idle Zen master solemnly reprimanded the little novice and said, "Don't talk nonsense!" When did your brother lie about him? ”

Xiao Shami was very aggrieved and said, "He is just lying!" He said that the timber had been transported back to Yuelin Temple, but you old man looked, there was not even a single new timber in the temple, didn't he talk nonsense with his eyes open! ”

The idle Zen master said: "Fireflies, how to know the light of the sun and the moon; How can a mortal child understand the realm of sages! Hairy boy, hurry up and confess to the cloth bag! ”

The little novice stood stubbornlyβ€”there wasn't a single log in the temple.

The cloth bag monk waved his hand generously and said, "The child is open-mouthed, honest and comfortable, there is nothing right or wrong. ”

The Budai monk turned to the idle Zen master: "Master, please ask a few senior brothers to go to the ancient well in front of the original Daxiong Treasure Hall to get wood, I have already transferred them from the sea in Xiangshan Port to the bottom of the well." ”

Xiao Shami stole the corners of his mouth and muttered in his heart: "Lie!" ”

However, without doubting his words, the Zen Master actually called a few young and strong monks and asked them to erect a tall eagle frame (an ancient triangular bracket for lifting heavy objects with wooden pulleys) above the wellhead.

Under the command of the idle Zen master, everyone was seriously busy, some installing runners, some arranging ropes, some tying iron hooks, and even freed up a large open space to prepare to pile up a large amount of wood.

Seeing this scene, Xiao Shami couldn't help but wonder: Could it be that this ancient well in Yuelin Temple is really connected to the sea 80 miles away? He suddenly remembered, as if someone had said that as long as you are calm, you can hear the sound of the waves and the tides rising and falling in this ancient well. He couldn't help but walk to the well, and craned his neck to look into the wellβ€”

There was no wood in the well, but there was a little monk - the reflection of the little novice himself - the well water was too calm!

At that time, the little novice was reprimanded by the idle old monk, and now he has finally caught the handle.

He was a clever child, and instead of returning directly to the old monk, he brought a bucket and hung it on the big iron hook that was originally going to pull the wood outward.

Seeing this, the idle Zen master said, "You little hairy head, you have nothing to do, and you will add to the chaos!" ”

The little novice said, "There is only a pure spring water in the well, and you have spent a lot of effort to build an eagle scaffold, so why don't you lift the water?" ”

The idle Zen master looked at the cloth bag, and the cloth bag monk said: "The old monk should wash his hands and burn incense, sound the drum and beat the bell, and thank the Dharma Protector God for his hard work." ”

So, the idle Zen master put on clothes and utensils (wearing a robe and holding a prayer tool), came to the Dharma Protector Hall, and offered incense to worship.

At the same time, the bells and drums of Yuelin Temple rang in unison, and the atmosphere was solemn and sacred. Suddenly, people heard the sound of gurgling and gurgling in the ancient well, as if it were boiling a pot, and then the spring water gushed out, the waves rolled, and a thick piece of wood showed its head......

The Zen Master immediately ordered the people to lower the hook and rope, tie the log, and use the wheel to hang it out.

What a pillar! The diameter of the circle is three feet thick, five or six zhang long, smooth and straight, very rare.

It is used as a pillar and can bear thousands of weights; With it as a pillar, it can stand for a thousand years! What's even more gratifying is that only one was hung out, and another one popped up, as if it was inexhaustible.

The Zen Master asked the cloth bag, "How many have you brought back?" ”

Budai didn't answer and asked: "How much does the old monk need?" ”

The little novice interjected: "Of course, the more the merrier!" ”

Budai smiled: "Little brother, the more greed, the more troubles. There are ten entanglements and ninety-eight knots in life, a total of one hundred and eight troubles, are you too little? ”

After thinking about it for a while, he said, "The three halls need a total of one hundred and eight beams and pillars. ”

Budai said: "Then, turn your troubles into Bodhi, and turn your troubles into one hundred and eight pillars!" Old monk, count it, and when you have enough to count, shout to stop. ”

The temple strikes the bell one hundred and eight times day and night, which is intended to eliminate one hundred and eight kinds of troubles; And with the number of one hundred and eight troubles, there are one hundred and eight beads.

The beads hanging around the abbot's neck counted the amount of wood.

When the beads were counted, the idle Zen master hurriedly shouted, "Enough, enough!" Enough is enough. ”

I don't know if he shouted slowly or what's going on, there seems to be a log in the well water!

The idle Zen master asked the number of hanging woods, and there were only one and seven of them!

The idle Zen master looked at the rosary in his hand and didn't understand what was going on. The Budai monk seemed to be an uncertain prophet, and said with a smile: "You can understand by asking the little junior brother." ”

The idle Zen master looked for the little novice with his eyes, and there was still a trace of him - the little novice had already avoided.

It turned out that after the old monk rested last night, the playful and curious little novice quietly stole the crystal round jewel beads that the old monk hung around his neck every day, symbolizing the majesty of the abbot and the identity of the abbot. As he played, he imagined that one day he would hang such a string of orbs......

He accidentally broke the string string that stringed the orb, and the jade gems rolled everywhere. He tried a lot of things, but only one hundred and seven were recovered. He strung it back together and quietly put it back in place......

Therefore, the idle Zen master used it to calculate the wood, and one was missing.

However, the log stuck in the well could not be lifted anyway, so it had to remain in the water.

With these pillars and pillars, the expanded Yuelin Temple is large-scale, the layout is ingenious, and the whole temple is like a dragon:

The wide mountain gate is just like the dragon's mouth; The bell towers and drum towers on the left and right sides of the mountain gate are like dragon horns on the dragon's head; The two circular release pools side by side in the mountain gate are like the bright eyes of a giant dragon; The central axis is online, and there are the thick and solid Tianwang Palace, the tall and magnificent Daxiong Treasure Palace, the exquisite and dexterous Chongning Pavilion, and the Great Compassion Pavilion with flying eaves in the air, like a long dragon body, exuding majestic power......

After the expansion of the Yuelin Temple, the idle Zen master was about to die, and he planned to pass on the position of abbot to Qi here.
