Chapter Seventy-Eight: The Fermories
"Classmate Li Wu really shocked me, he used his power so openly."
"What's the matter, they're going to forget about it anyway, right? That would be the most efficient way to do it. β
Li Wu and the three of them were walking in the dark tunnel, and the Snow Maiden held a lantern made of ice, providing a subtle light.
When you enter the hole, you find that the volume of the interior is quite amazing, and the passage changes from narrow to wide, curved and extended, which makes one wonder if the mountain has been hollowed out.
Shortly after the advance, a low roar was heard from the depths of the tunnel.
Hoshikawa Aoi had already switched to her transformation form, and when she heard the movement, she alertly took out Giyotan: "What's that sound?" β
"It feels like snoring."
Li Wu listened attentively for a while: "This giant's sleep quality is quite good. β
Following the sound as a clue, after many twists and turns, a spacious hall appeared in front of me.
Aside from the rough stone walls and the torches inlaid on them, this place is in some sense different from the ordinary bedroom.
A large stone table sits across the right side of the hall, with large wooden stakes in front of it that have had had their trunks cut off, presumably to serve as seats.
In the center of the hall was a stone slab covered with animal skins that looked like polished, on which the roar came from.
A one-eyed giant lay flat, saliva running down his gaping mouth.
Above his head was written "Fermores".
How is it a Celtic myth again?
Li Wu faintly had some bad premonitions.
Hoshikawa Aoi once told him that mysteries with similar perspectives would attract each other.
The werewolf and leprechaun who set his sights on Arisa, the headless horseman he ambushed and defeated, and now the Melushin and the giant he met during his school trip.
As far as he knew, the Fermorians meant "a race from the bottom of the sea" in Irish, and were often described as giant, naturally deformed.
Perhaps the most famous of these is King Barrol of Fermory, who lives on Torrey Island in Ireland and is famous for his Magic Eye, which can bring ruin to everything by just looking at it.
"He's sleeping right now, let's take this opportunity to take him down."
Hoshikawa Aoi carried the axe blade and was eager to try: "I heard that you can kill a giant by slashing the back of your neck. β
"It's not a genre at all."
Li Wu complained, and almost at the same moment, the sleeping giant seemed to be disturbed to a deep sleep, and suddenly half-sat up, and roared in an earth-shattering voice: "On the other side of the sea, it is the son of Danu!" β
A layer of lime fell from the walls around it.
"Look, I think cutting the back of my neck will really work!"
"I guess it's about the battle between them and the Danu Protoss."
Although he said this, Li Wu was already on guard.
The awakened giant looked down at the small visitors, and focused on the Snow Maiden with one eye.
"Ah, Popsicle Woman, you're here to see Mercury again. How about it, have you thought about the marriage proposal you talked about last time? β
The other two looked at the proprietress next to them in shock at a synchronized frequency.
"Of course not!" The Snow Maiden unleashed a vicious burst of ice mist, adding some cold slag to the giant's messy beard.
The self-proclaimed Mercury giant shook his head and dropped an ice slag: "So what's the matter?" Who are these two little people? β
"We're here to challenge you! Show your neck and surrender! β
Hoshikawa pointed the tip of the axe at Mercury.
"They are here to warn you not to encroach on the fields of the surrounding residents!"
Snow Maiden said calmly.
"Oh hehe, encroachment...... In my memory, the land was supposed to be a natural thing. β
The giant let out another thunderous laugh that echoed through the cave.
"It must be said that since the beginning of the process called the Industrial Revolution, the worldview centered on you, which has become more and more inflated, is the main culprit that encroaches on our living space."
If taken literally, does this "anthropocentric worldview" refer to an "everyday" worldview that constantly obscures and distorts ordinary people's perception of the supernatural?
"We had to move here from our hometown...... Don't mention it. β
The giant coughed, "I said before that you want me to get out of here, unless you're better than Mercuryβor if you agree to my proposal?" β
"You're not a good fit."
Hoshikawa Aoi whispered.
"Absolutely not!"
The Snow Maiden made a big cross.
"So, it looks like we'll only have to see the real chapter in our hands?"
Li Wu walked in front of Mercury, who was half-sitting on the stone slab, and looked up to see only a vigorous beard.
"Hahaha, villain, you deserve a commendation for your courage."
The giant stroked his beard: "But you should cherish your life more than to be carried away by beauty and do a man's duel with me." β
"No, it has nothing to do with beauty......"
"Then bet on the popsicle women and have a fight between the warriors."
"Listen to people, you idiot giant!"
Li Wu flicked a little spark at his beard.
"Woo-a-aaa
Mercury flapped his burning beard and sent a gust of wind through the hall.
After a while, the giant who had completed the work of the beard squatted down and looked at Li Wu solemnly: "I understand, so I will make a bet on whether I will leave this place or not, but if I win, the popsicle woman will regularly send food and wine here." β
"Did you crave other people's craft?"
Li Wu looked at the Snow Girl: "Boss, what about this condition?" β
"There's nothing wrong with me, but Li Wujun, do you really have confidence?"
She asked, a little worried.
"yes, yes, why don't you let me go?"
Hoshikawa Aoi wrenched her fingers, and she seemed a little unhappy from the beginning.
"No, I'm trying to try a new trick."
Li Wu refused, he hadn't used the [Former Stonehenge] newly obtained by the [Sage], so he just took this opportunity to test the usage.
He looked at the giant who needed to look up to get the full picture: "Start right here?" β
Mercury smiled haughtily, "Although it's a bedroom, this place is spacious enough, right?" β
He leaned down, and under the light of the fire, it was like a continuous shadow that suddenly covered Li Wu.
The palm, which was about the size of a person and had thick joints, was spread out in front of Li Wu.
"Let's test our strength."
So declared the giant from mythology.
"You don't mind if I give myself a little reinforcement, do you?"
Li Wu asked, in fact, in myths and legends, the Fermorians are not simply well-developed limbs, they can manipulate the weather, spread plagues, and even change their forms to strengthen themselves.
So Mercury said in a victorious tone: "Of course I don't mind, it won't change anything." β
Since he was so confident, of course Li Wu was embarrassed to spoil the fun.
He uttered a new word: "By ingenuity, not brute force, Merlin brought back the giant's stone henge and erected it in Amesbury!" β
The air trembled with powerful words, and the ground in the cave rose up, and around him grew stone pillars that formed arched doors, and even the stone slabs that had been used as beds were crumbled by the top.
A miniature version of Stonehenge takes shape here.
